FBI can secretly turn on laptop cameras without the indicator light

They forced the laptop manufacturer to install a secret servo that controls the sliding cover that only the FBI can control :downs:
I feel like this is a form of slippery slope argument, though, and isn't that a fallacy? I guess it makes more sense though since people just plain don't trust the government, but I think that the government should be allowed to devise of measures to catch criminals.
Plus honestly, why would they bother watching people like us, unimportant non-risks?
I'm not arguing that they shouldn't use this, I'm arguing against the point that they only use their tools on "bad" people.
You're right that they don't care about people like us. I'm talking about things like MKUltra, Watergate, MLK blackmail, etc.
And Zeke129 was never heard from again.
We already thought he died once, remember?
but you have to first ask yourself
does anything work on vista?
Hey I used a laptop with vista for 4 years with no problems at all. Never did I once have any problems in any of the games I played either.
Theres more to this than what the news reports always. A lot cant even be talked about however there are strict rules in place for these kind of things.
People will get what they want, regardless of rules. Shit like this can't be entrusted to anyone, because it will be abused.
Because the "I don't have anything to hide" argument you're basically bringin up here is terrible to say the least.
That's not what he's saying. At all. Read again.
I have a question, how do you feel about wiretapping suspected criminals, with a court-approved warrant? Is that okay, since I don't see people raising a huge fuss about it?
Or is any form of intrusion, no matter what the person is suspected of, no matter what hoops the law enforcement agency has to jump through for approval, automatically bad?
Sure, it can be abused. Literally any tool at the police's disposal can be abused. Search warrants can be abused. Even the most basic ability to arrest someone can be abused. That doesn't automatically make it bad, it means they need oversight. Here, there's legal oversight through courts. What more would you suggest?

the fbi will hack your sliding cover

The FBI can activate a secret X-RAY protocol that lets it see through anything you put over it.
The NSA forced all webcam manufacturers to install them secretly back in 2005.
MY CONSPIRACY THEORY HAS COME TO LIGHT! :tinfoil:
Jokes on you assholes, my laptop doesn't have a camera. If it did, I'd rather tear the damn thing out than leave it in.
Specially since we have to deal with nosy fucks like the NSA and FBI.
*Uninstalls webcam driver*
Like I even need webcams/laptop cameras anyway.
Electrical tape works best for dark colored laptops. You can cut a little square out of it to cover the lens and it doesn't leave any muck. Blends in real well so it's not a dead give away to the fact I'm a paranoid freak.
jokes on you, my laptop's webcam randomly broke a a while back
That's what they want you to think.
I hope they enjoy watching me with my dick out. It's quite the sight. Especially since I'm a minor in the eyes of the law. Check mate, pedophiles.
To all the people talking about tape, I don't think the FBI is very interested in your parents basements.
If this requires a warrens what makes it worse then wiretapping with a warrens which is fine.
I always expected something like this to happen, which is why I've been trying to become overweight, find the freakiest porn and just masturbate to it while staring at the camera with the most serious face I can make up 24/7.
They knew my plan and probably injected me with something in my sleep to prevent me from becoming overweight. Oh well, not like I have a camera anyway.
It's funny, people always think I'm paranoid when they see the top of my laptop taped up, in truth it's just because for some reason the lid rubbed really badly against the body when I was carrying it around between classes, and the piece of painter's tape kept it from scuffing too badly. v:v:v
I've long suspected the government could do this, so I've taken it upon myself to entertain the poor techs assigned to watch me. I've developed several new and sexually exciting ways to masturbate, there's nothing like the thrill of accomplishment when you've successfully used your own armpit to satisfy yourself. So I say to you, FBI video surveillance technician...
Was it good for you too?
Cool! I enjoy having my BF watch me wank, now the FBI can join in on the fun. Boy they must be HUMONGOUS fags.
So the FBI is watching me rock out to videos of Twisted Sister playing in '09?
i was gonna make a joke about how sad that is on behalf of them, but I guess now's as good of a time as any to start being honest with myself
Yes, the FBI has been capturing all of your ugly mugs with your laptop webcam without causing a major increase in upload traffic on your network.
It's quite easy to do if you have some knowledge on how the laptop cameras work.
Yeah, but what this means is if the FBI can do it, so can other people.
HAH! Finally someone will see my dick! So joke's on them!
USB webcam.
Try to hack into an unplugged device.
I feel very insecure masturbating now.

Strict rules? Doesn't matter. This is a ridiculously huge breach of privacy.
I hope they like my face as I fap.
As far as I know those indicator LEDs are usually connected to the same powerline as the camera, meaning that unless the FBI's somehow able to break the laws of physics, that's impossible.
