• Malaysia launches its first shariah-compliant airline

Uh, guys, "shariah law" is not a universal set of codified legal rules. It's literally the connection between the legal system and the principles of Islam. This is literally a religious-themed airline that serves likeminded religious customers in predominantly religious countries and complying with the principles and tenants of that faith. Holy shit people calm the fuck down. [editline]22nd December 2015[/editline] I'm probably one of the biggest critics of Islam on this board and sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who actually knows what the fuck is going on.
In a country where you can get normal raisins for $0.20 a box. And 'raisins that have been prayed on' for $2.00. I'm surprised nobody has taken the chance to capitalise on this yet. A large percentage of the Muslim here are not only extremely conservative but also to an extent, dumb. I mean if you own a food company you can literally just plaster a "Halal" logo covering 1/4th of your products and that in itself is already a selling point. [editline]23rd December 2015[/editline] I also find it ironic that the two largest shareholders of this airline are in fact, Hindus.
Do you guys know if women are forced to sit separately from men? I know that's fairly common in more strict Muslim meetings.

Dumb people are always dumb, no matter what their religion is. Failure to meet enough forward-thinking Muslim in your own country is indicator of what kind of people you surround yourself with, or just a one-eye-closed attempt to diss Muslims, which is ~trendy~ today (especially if you're also a Muslim, it makes you look a whole lot smarter than other dumb muslims) And religion has always been capitalised on. Look around. Scams always exist. Buying a Halal-certified food is dumb? So I should find a roadkill chicken to eat to be smarter? And don't forget that this is a flight company we are talking about, not a comittee to form Islamic fatwa. They can get shaholders from church of Jedism for all I care, it wont change a thing. A lot of non-Muslim also manufactured Halal-certified food products in Malaysia. I don't see anybody complaining, because we are not dumb enough to dwell on such irony.

I hope you are merely making a logical fallacy and don't actually think that
Female Muslim flight crew are required to wear headscarves while non-Muslim crew are to be decently dressed, managing director Jaafar Zamhari told reporters.
Doesn't sound too bad to be honest.
The sharia law scare is a joke. There is one small section of sharia law that says "stone adulterers to death," but that cannot be applied if it contradicts the law of the land. Try stoning someone to death in Malaysia and you'll get charged with assault and murder, most likely. Criminal actions (and a huge majority of civil actions) need to go through the court system, which doesn't follow sharia law. Not to mention the absolute fear of sharia is completely unfounded - it strictly applies only to Muslims with a few taxation bits for other Abrahamic religions. The idiots that think Sharia law will be applied to everyone are fear-mongering lunatics. It's behavioral doctrine and moral principles codified into a law, and it's incredibly easy to not enforce the Hudud or the extreme punishments and still follow sharia law. Sharia law is 95% "pray facing this way this many times a day, dress well, be hygienic in these ways, be pure this way." It's no different than the custom of washing your hands after using the bathroom. That's most of what it dictates - not slaughtering people who don't believe in Islam.
They're objecting to the inconsistency of religious law. It's interpreted and practiced differently in varying regions, so it will appear inhumane in some regions and it will appear humanistic in the other. It's best for societies to be bound by secular law imo.
If an American airline did this exact sort of thing with Christianity (prayer before takeoff, stewards dress modestly, advertised as 'Christian-friendly' or something), I think most people in this thread would find this silly, yet because it's Islam all of a sudden it's a sign of the threat to the modern world as we know it?
the majority of people in this thread prior to this post seem to have no problem with it [editline]24th December 2015[/editline] about 5 posters don't like this, about 15 don't have any problem at all.
The Muslim culture is slowly but surely taking over. Everyone is starting to bend to their will.
61% of malaysia is muslim. malaysia has such deep ties to islam that malays are defined as muslim in their constitution. it's their official religion. i think you might be overreacting that a muslim country is having their home airline be islam-compliant.
this isn't even a government owned airline There was no reason to worry in the first place but now there really shouldn't be, wtf is wrong with people
Hearing the pilots chanting "Allah Ackbar" mid flight might cause some concerns to foreigners unaware about the finer details of Islam I imagine. Still, pretty tame considering people are regularly decapitated for witchcraft by this system.

I think it's a little bit true.

If anybody is punished, that is because they commit actual crime (i.e murder, kidnap). But witchcraft is still considered a sin by Islam. In other country, if witchcraft is being punished, then that is the custom/traditional law of that region, Islam or not
The amount of ignorance in this thread physically hurts me. [editline]27th December 2015[/editline]
I think he means that overall, all across the world the Muslim culture is taking over. I think it's a little bit true.
There are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, of course you're going to notice "Muslim culture" showing up here and there.
I cannot believe people are defending a religious rule based airline. Seriously? Think about how vilified something like this would be if it were a "Christian airline". Cognitive dissonance abound.
Did you read the article? All they really do is say a prayer at takeoff, wear headscarves and serve halal meat, what's inhumane about that?
[hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SN0U8_mIVwc[/hd]
Did you read the article? I don't mind people wearing hijabs or whatever the fuck you call them out of their own free will, but these values will not be opposed on me. I just hope you have to pay extra for the shit. No, I'm not being an anti-islamic dickhead, I just don't think forcing people to do things is healthy at all, especially when they are paying for it.
