Airlines cut deeper into legroom to help boost profits

This thread just has Ryanair written all over it. Was on a four hour flight there the other week and it felt like it went on forever, legs wedged into the gaps between the seats in front because they physically wouldn't fit.
I miss free stuff on airlines...
Lol fuck you airlines.
So now in addition to crappy food, dealing with security, and crying babies on the flight we now have decreased legroom.
Yay, airplanes!
i'm 6'1 and fuck airline legroom already.
Another person whose 6' here. When I went to New Zealand my legs didn't fit and I had them out in the aisle the entire time.
This meant that dining carts constantly crashed into my legs. :v:
I am 195cm and a bit fat.
I can't fit into 90% of longrange busses.
I won't ever fly a plane unless it's transcontinental.
Yet another Facepuncher who's 6', it's not fun being on a plane from the west coast to east coast in America for nearly the whole entire day with shitty legroom.
Every single person on the plane is made more miserable so they can cram 6 more miserable people in.
I guess the airlines figure we've reached a saturation point on being pissed off at flying and can't get more angry with them.
Think of it this way: much more efficient, fuel-wise.
I'm confused by these disagrees, are you saying it's not more efficient to pack people in?

Fuck their efficiency. They keep making planes less comfortable without making them cheaper, so why should we care?
I'm confused by these disagrees, are you saying it's not more efficient to pack people in?
Its probably not as efficient as you might think, as more people = more fuel required for the extra weight (of both the passengers and their luggage, as well as the extra weight of the seats).

Unfortunately I enjoy having functioning knee caps at the end of a flight so there's one spanner in the works.

There was a story a while back where they were considering changing the seats from actual seats to some weird bar stool type tall ass chairs where you would literally have a wrecked back and your legs would be knackered after it, all so they could get more people on each plane.
Sadly the source is the daily mail but to be honest there's little they can fuck up with such a basic story:

Well, it's only their fault when they get lawsuits over DVT - plus I can kind of understand this move. Fuel is getting more and more expensive, sometimes packing as many people as you possibly can is the best decision to make in the short term.
That said, I'd like to actually see how many more passengers you can fit in a plane with a little less legroom. It's like the parking here in the UK. We don't have the diagonal spaces that are 100x easier and make so much more sense, instead we park parallel so we can get only ONE more space on each line.
Asian 5'8 master race.

it's their profit margin, it's up to them provide whatever service they want and charge whatever price they want. If the voluntary exchange you make when you buy your plane ticket is getting shittier and shittier, stop using the service.
You're not entitled to comfortably travelling thousands of feet above the ground by birth right.

The problem is, the profit gained from selling cheap as fuck tickets is marginal when you're packing on a few extra tons through luggage, people, new seats and the extra fuel to actually get the plane moving.

What are you talking about? Maybe I want to travel comfortably in a plane without paying a fuckload for it? And yes, I am entitled to expect the best service for my money by my birth right, and damn right I won't ever go anywhere by plane if the airline companies will keep treating their customers like this

then don't go anywhere by plane. airlines don't owe you anything until an exchange is made.
I can't wait until the next supercontinent forms. Then we can forget this kind of bullshit.

Well that's my whole fucking point. If I give them the money for a plane ticket, they owe me a comfortable flight, which they won't give me
Well that's my whole fucking point. If I give them the money for a plane ticket, they owe me a comfortable flight, which they won't give me
they only owe you a comfortable flight if they say they're giving you a comfortable flight. if when you buy your ticket they say they have Xcm leg room, they only owe you that much leg room. you're not entitled to being comfortable by default.
Still better than the tube

Will you stop? You are defending corporations that fuck over their customers
I'm 5'8".
I may have stocky legs, but by god if my knees touch the chair in front of me I'm going to have a conniption.
Still better than the tube
Except that you don't use the tube for anything upto and above 12 hours solid.
Most tube rides are a matter of 20 minutes at most, typically much less.

They know there are no alternatives, and they cover everything. Want cheap transport? Stuff you in a seat designed for clown cars. You want a bigger seat? Then you pay more. You can't go to another company because they all do the same thing, nobody provides big seats at a low price because it isn't profitable enough. If you don't want to deal with it, then you drive, if you want off the continent, too bad.
I can't wait until the next supercontinent forms. Then we can forget this kind of bullshit.
Except for the part where it'll still be much faster traveling by plane.
As someone who is 6 ft 6", fuck you airlines, it's uncomfortable enough as it is.
Feel sorry for you OP, I have a bad enough time.
Except for the part where it'll still be much faster traveling by plane.
Yes, but it won't be as necessary. You can't get from Europe to America by train, I guess some airlines rely on this for income. So when other forms of travel are present, the airlines have to actually compete. But I see your point.
Anyway, we'll probably all be dead by that time or we'll have teleportation.
