• Airlines cut deeper into legroom to help boost profits
Yes, but it won't be as necessary. You can't get from Europe to America by train, I guess some airlines rely on this for income. So when other forms of travel are present, the airlines have to actually compete. But I see your point. Anyway, we'll probably all be dead by that time or we'll have teleportation.
Yeah I suppose traveling by train for a solid week or some shit to get from one edge of the world to the other is fine and stuff. Planes will still be the best way to travel cause trains are shit too, at least you're on a plane for less time.
I'm 1.88 meters tall and I disapprove of this.
This is why I drive now, it takes a little longer but with all the bullshit airports put you through it's just not worth it anymore, not to mention when you are traveling with several people driving is usually a lot cheaper then flying.
Wow I already have problems on the backseats of most cars. I don't even want to think what this would be like.
I'm only 6'4 but my legs are really long. I have a problem with the drivers seat of most cars.
Next big thing: standing in airplane
I'm only 6'4 but my legs are really long. I have a problem with the drivers seat of most cars.
"only"
I'm 6'4 and on a recent flight on Delta I had a friend who was sitting beside me who was also 6'4. The difference is he was 300lbs and built like a brick shit house. I was pretty uncomfortable, but he had virtually no room to move. That was actually my first time flying and hopefully my last.
This is bad news for me 6'6.5" (2M area) and I'm still growing. I'm screwed if they remove anymore legroom. I had to take a 13 hour trans Atlantic flight in economy, and it was pure agony with how little room I had.
Holy shit bro, you're tall
I'm around 1,70 and the last time I took a flight when I was alot smaller wasn't that comfortable either, so I understand that everyone will complain about this.
Will you stop? You are defending corporations that fuck over their customers
then don't be their customer. corporations are only able to sustain themselves by people throwing money at them, so if it's that big a deal stop throwing money at them because they don't give a shit about bitching and whining (unless it's bad for their profit margins). this is so obvious. If you really don't think the transaction you're making is fair, don't make it.
they only owe you a comfortable flight if they say they're giving you a comfortable flight. if when you buy your ticket they say they have Xcm leg room, they only owe you that much leg room. you're not entitled to being comfortable by default.
Quit enabling shitty business practices from assholes who only want to squeeze every fucking penny out of the dollar by not giving a shit about anyone besides themselves. Seriously, why are you sticking up for people who obviously only make decisions based in greed?

Some people have to travel by plane for their jobs. What do you suggest that they do? Spend more to actually be able to fit on, which gives the company more reason to decrease seat spacing? All companies are reducing space, so "choose an airline with larger seats" is hardly an option. If you have a choice between unfair transactions and met need or no transaction but unmet need, what do you do? Let's try applying the same thing to other common situations. I don't think that £1.35 a litre of diesel is reasonable, but it's necessary, so it has to be done, you can hardly boycott fuel companies. £9000 a year in tuiton fees is unreasonable, but higher education is near mandatory and you have no choice as all institutions will rip you off, a few thousand in car insurance is unreasonable but you've gotta pay and so on. I'm 175cm and 60kg, and I find it quite confining, I feel sorry for anyone who's larger than me, it must be really uncomfortable.
Yet another 6ft user here. I'll be on a plane to Morocco next June, and I'll be interested to see if plane seating improves or gets worse by then. I usually sleep through much of the journey after going "Oooh" at the scenery, but I still can't help but feel uncomfortable.
Friends don't let friends read Ayn Rand books.
"I WANT SHITLOADS OF LEGROOM AND I WANT IT FOR FREE. I DESERVE AMPLE LEGROOM EVEN IF IT'S NOT AGREED TO IN MY VOLUNTARY TRANSACTION." I wouldn't identify as an objectivist, I'm just a voluntaryist.

The airline companies have all the leverage so you want to defend them because it makes you feel closer to power I guess? Why not be an actual decent human being and quit enabling greedy fucks acting like they have some inalienable right to make as much money as possible at the expense of others.

Just because something stops being a luxury, it doesn't mean you're somehow entitled to someone giving it to you for free, or anything less than they voluntarily agree to. As for the other situations you mention, most of these are so incredibly expensive because of state interaction in the first place, the least voluntary institutions in existence. Should we use the power of the state to coerce airlines into providing legroom? And if they refuse to provide the legroom because it's unprofitable, should we get the police involved and coercively restrain them?
it's either you're all giants or I'm too short :v:
I'm 6'2" and I barely fit comfortably in airplane seats. It's gonna get to the point where you have to be 5' tall and weigh only 150 lbs to get on a flight.
I am too poor to ever fly, so I have no idea what it feels like.

I dunno about you but I know a fair few people who already needed to pay extra for leg room because otherwise they can't sit comfortably since their knees are jammed against the seats in front so this pretty much fucks them over.
I came into this thread to read an article on annoying airplanes. But got distracted because holy shit, FP is full of giants. I can't really go into any airplanes, but I'm just imagining this is like the backseat of a car x100.
I'm 4'10" and you're all crazy, there's nothing wrong!
holy shit im 5'7 and i have barely any legroom really feel for you taller guys
Fuck you, I've been too tall to fly comfortably since I was sixteen.
am I the only person here under 6' nevermind look two posts above me
jesus christ 6'9, that's too fucking tall
I am too poor to ever fly, so I have no idea what it feels like.
Imagine sitting in the back seat of a car with the person in front of you having their seat leaned all the way back. And you have to stay like this for 2-7 hours. (longer if oceanic flight)
