Disappointed that it's not called Super Wreck it Ralph
I really hope this time around they actually tell more about the games and they don't pull off those "orginel games" crap again. Half of the movie was basically a generic disney movie cliche.
I really hope that they can make the story go in the direction that they can make more in the future since there's a lot that they can do with the video game industry and history. Like i hope they don't jump from the arcade to a decade later and skipped an era or two.

Lots of deleted scenes showed that there were way more machines that they were gonna hop around in, hopefully they come back.
Heard about this earlier. Hope it ends up being genuinely good, and not just a cash grab as with most children's movie sequels.
They've had a sequel planned from the beginning; this is just the official announcement. Apparently Mario and Luigi are supposed to appear in this one.
But hey, I'm totally up for it. The first one was the first true video game movie done right, if you ask me. One of my top five movies.
Pixar is owned by disney, saying disney made it is accurate.
Yeah, okay, they own and fund the movies but Disney Animation Studios and Pixar are two completely separate enteties and should not be confused with eachother. But Apple is also a majority owner of Pixar, and you don't exactly say that it's an Apple movie, do you? :v:

I just generally don't like this miscredting nature of saying a Pixar movie is made by Disney when Disney is really just the mother-company that owns a whole bunch of branches. Strictly speaking, yes, Disney owns the rights to the movie, but they're not the ones who produced it. That credit goes to Pixar Animation.
Ownership aside, John Lasseter (a big-time Pixar founder) is the head of Disney's Animation Studio in addition to Pixar, and also came up with the whole idea of Wreck-It Ralph. So it's a story created by a Pixar guy and assembled by Disney's main animation studio, rather than the Pixar guys. So while externally it's a Disney movie made by Disney studios, at its core it was created and written by the same mind behind most of Pixar's biggest successes.
Coincidentally, any movie Lasseter has made with Disney has turned out alright, where as the ones he hasn't been involved in have been mediocre or just bad. That man is a magician and can turn the dumbest of ideas into gold.
That said, unless Lasseter is involved in the sequel, it's going to be almost 99% the usual Disney cashgrab with no soul put into it.
[editline]15th July 2015[/editline]
Actually, hold that thought. There is ONE Disney movie he was involved with that was a cash-grab from the get-go. And that was Planes.
But at least he had the dignity to let Disney Animation Studios deal with that shameful pile of garbage instead of ruining Pixar's spotless record. So I can kinda forgive him.

I don't know, Cars 2 did put them into a slump.
I hope Skrillex returns for the soundtrack, the stuff he did for it really fit the film.
I just hope this one actually sticks to being about games.
It annoyed me that they just sort of forgot what the film was supposed to be about in the second half, they stopped making any references to games, and just started making references to candy.
Because they were in a game about candy?
I don't know, Cars 2 did put them into a slump.
Cars 2 screamed Cash Grab at the get go...

I agree with you, just extending your point:
It's an important distinction that although Pixar is owned by Disney, they're technically a different studio. Different building, different staff. Artistically it's a Pixar film, legally it's owned by Disney. You don't see the Disney castle at the beginning of every Marvel and Lucasfilm movie, do you? They work on their own still, just with Disney presiding over it. Disney still has its own animations studio, coincidentally (thankfully) also run by John Lasseter. There's a different creative process in the different studios, with a different team and different writers and animators. The end results may look similar, but in the end they're still made by different people. Lasseter's been doing more for Disney's main studio lately because Pixar is pretty good as it is, and he must be trying to improve the main studio's reception. I don't like the Cars/Planes series, but I forgive him for it because it's his personal favorite series (last I checked) and I guess he kind of thinks of it as his baby
plot thing ideas
I'm pretty sure they'll stay away from ideas that only us nerds would be more familiar with and will save the truly nerdy stuff for in-jokes and references instead. All this stuff about emulators seems like it would go over the average movie-goer's head.
Cars 2 screamed Cash Grab at the get go...
It might just be blind fanboyism, but I thought Cars 2 was okay. It didn't measure up to the first but it was alright for what it was. It was a bearable sequel with more focus on the kids.
I wouldn't call it a Pixar cash grab anyway, if anything I'd put the blame on Disney. Thing is, Lasseter did produce Planes, but Pixar didn't make it. Which is strange, don't you think? If they did the sequel, why not a spin-off as well?
The way I see it, if Pixar is asked to do a movie they only do it if they can see reason to, and they can find a meaning to put into the movie. Pixar's 22 Rules of Storytelling really shows this.
So why was Planes not Pixar? I would bet that Disney commissioned it, but Pixar said no. They didn't want to work on it. They had better things to do. :sbhj:

Yep, that's really why I tend to get upset when people attribute credit to Disney, because it just feels wrong to see the wrong studio be given credit for the work when their role is only ownership and distribution.
disney didn't own pixar until 2006 but every movie pixar has released since it stopped being called "lucasfilm's graphics department" was bankrolled by by disney and disney owns all the rights to them
That's a weird way to attempt to counter the point that I made, which is that Disney didn't make Toy Story 2.
Please god don't let it focus on some generic ass game to cash in on Japan.
In fact, can this one actually be made for a North American audience this time? I wanted to see video games, and in huge variety, but instead they just stuck to some nameless racing game that doesn't even exist overseas.
I mean, I know that sounds petty and is probably missing the point but seriously, the Sarah Silverman character was annoying as hell and the only fun part of the movie was when Ralph is hopping back and forth between video games. But that lasted about 15 minutes and the other was just an advertisement for that stupid racing game.

I'd love it either if they did some stuff like the Thomas was Alone soundtrack, 8 bit sounds crossed with orchestral instruments.
Either way, hyped. Wreck-it Ralph was absolutely fantastic in my opinion, didn't get swamped in references to video games to the point where it was like "It's a gamer thing, you wouldn't understand", but still had a few nice nods to fans.

Sugar Rush isn't a real game though? They based it on Mario Kart-style games.
Straight from the Wreck-It Ralph Wiki:
The game "Sugar Rush" does not exist in the real world. The development team drew inspiration from many existing game concepts and combined them for a brand new experience. This allowed for greater control of the story as Disney wasn't limited by a pre-existing game universe. However, Disney did develop a browser-based version of the game that uses the Unity engine, but did not include Vanellope or the Recolor Racers.
I hope the movie is more about Ralph as a character. It feels like it didn't focus enough on him and he took a backseat to Penelope
