I don't really see any reason to keep her in jail for this, it was consensual and I'm sure she'd never try anything like that again. Just ban her from possessing a firearm.
Consensual shooting is a phrase I'd never imagined hearing.

He asked for it, she provided it... Now she might go to jail when she clearly needs help to cope with what she's done here. But i'm betting she's going to get swept under the rug and forgotten about, and then she'll go to jail which will escalate her more than probably low mental health right now and ruin her life. She deserves some kind of punishment sure, but a prison sentence seems way out of bounds for this situation.
What does society as a whole gain from putting her in jail? It's a lose-lose situation.

I think she was talked into taking the wrap for it, there were something like 11 guys there, and she really shouldn't be charged for Manslaughter, but she's been charged now with accessory after the fact, which is why I think she was talked into taking the blame IMO, this should be unlawful discharge of a firearm if anything Just dumb rednecks being dumb rednecks
When you partake in a illegal contract, consensuality becomes irrelevant.
Legally. this person shouldnt take up room in our prisons though. The reasoning for it would be because she's a fuckwit probably dangeorus to society possibly, but so are most people. its unlikely she'll do something like this again after that learning experience.
I've never seen anyone with kevlar that didn't have both kevlar and plates, hence my assumption it involved plates. Then again my experience with this is limited to actual military combat gear.
Police vests do not have ceramic plates. That's a military thing to protect against rifle rounds which most civilians don't own. Of course, I can't say that police and law enforcement never use vests that have plates but my mother is law enforcement and her vests are straight kevlar, no plating. My aunt is military and she does have ceramic plates in addition to kevlar. Edit: correction, just asked my mom and she said her vests are kevlar, however, if need be they have ceramic plates at her office to insert into the vests. Cool, learned something new!

Everyone seems to think that consensuality suddenly lets you do whatever you want.

You don't get to shoot someone because he said it was okay. The fact that this guy died from it should make it clear why it's not okay, not legal. Too much can go wrong and there is no reason for it. As to prison time or not, well, if you let her go with no jail required how does THAT benefit society? You've just told everyone that deliberately shooting someone is fine, don't worry about it if they die, you'll walk away.
