He hasn't had that much luck in writing movies though. The 2 movies he wrote the screenplay for were Book of Eli and After Earth, neither of which were particularly great.

Book of Eli and After Earth

After Earth
Shit. And I was just getting my hopes up.
[editline]23rd May 2014[/editline]
Although, M. Night Shyamalan did help with that, so maybe it wasn't all his fault because pretty much everything else he's written has been pretty good.
They might be revising it because he's more of a villain. Disney really only makes movies about heroes.
What's this about Maleficent coming out in a week, then? :v:
Star Wars: The Gungan Menace
It has a plot twist where Jar Jar is actually revealed to be Darth Darth Binks
Jar Jar was the true sith lord all along
What does that mean?
Gary Whitta is an extremely hit or miss writer, with a lot more miss than hit.
Specifically, Whitta was the lead writer of Episode 4 of Telltale's The Walking Dead. Dude is moving up.
Hey, let it be known he wrote The Book of Eli before that (Which is personally my favorite movie for reasons other than the writing) and then After Earth.
AFTER EARTH. One of the worst movies of 2013.
I don't exactly trust in his sci-fi writing skills so far.
As the poster said above me, he's very hit or miss. He hasn't written too much yet so we can't exactly trust him with this.
Book of Eli was the shit. Don't know where you guys see otherwise.
I didn't think the writing (other than the fucking bird) was the problem with After Earth. It was Jaden Smith. Why did Jaden have an accent when nobody else did.
I dont understand why people are panicking about the frequency of these films. Marvel release 3 a year and they are all awesome in a shared universe, and it works. Star wars has an entire universe to play with, and they are only doing one movie a year. It'll be fine (I hope oh dear god I hope).
look at star trek during the 80's/90's
three shows and how many movies? it was the golden age of star trek
this may very well be the golden age of star wars.
originals were gold, the prequals were the dark ages, this is like, the renaissance now
gary whitta is a fucking enigma. the walking dead has some of the best writing i've seen in a video game series, but he's also written for duke nuke forever and gears of war. now i find out he wrote after earth? what the fuck
