The PlayStation 4 dominates Europe with a 70 to 90% market share

I have a PS4.
I know one person who has a PS4 and zero persons who have an Xbone.
When PS4 came out, every single place ran out of stock several times in a row before I even got mine. Where those consoles went, that is a mystery. :v:
The Xbox One was released almost a year after the PS4 in retail here in Norway. I bought one (literally just to play master chief collection coop lol) without kinect for $300 with assassin's creed unity and black flag from a retail store. They had some deal where if you become a member/give them your email address you'll get it $120 cheaper. The cashier told me it was barely selling so they were trying to fix that.
Eh the PS was always stronger in Europe compared to the xbox. What's more interesting would be the market cap of console vs PC in various territories.
What makes me laugh most about all this stuff is that the xbox one was marketed as some kind of all in one media centre.... yet here in the UK the PS4 has literally waaaay more media apps. So the whole 'media centre' thing doesn't even apply to the xbone.
Glad I got a PS. Everything on xbox is just a sequel.

There isn't such a thing. PC's and consoles aren't competing. Consoles have their own market, the PC does not exist in that market.
Consoles are specific products, PC's are whatever, be it work, gaming, browsing, media storage, etc.
A PC is it's own market with a billion smaller markets fighting, both pre-built PC's and hardware manufacturers.

The biggest mistake I have made was creating a german PSN account.
It's such a mess you wouldn't belive it until you see it with your own eyes.
PT was PS+ only, half of the games arent available, email newsletter is broken, games have <insert description> placeholders in the store, sometimes you buy a bundle for a game without getting all the advertised DLC
This kinda makes me sad, I mean it's cool someone is successful, but man I think the WiiU deserves it more.
Anecdotal nothingness:
I have so much fun on my WiiU with friends. On the flipside, my brother got a PS4, got bored, sold it, bought an Xbone, got bored and started playing PC games. Eh, imo the PS4 and Xbone have literally nothing to offer.
edit: hey at least I acknowledged my anecdotal nothingness was anecdotal nothingness...
PS4 ran out of stock everywhere because Sony didn't produce enough of them. The XBone didn't have nearly as much issues with stock (despite comparable sales figures in the US) because more were produced.
Seems fair enough. They had a good start but well done Microsoft on having a fairly decent E3 2015. Competition is a good thing.

Oh, clamp it. Wii U's a good system.

It's a nintendo console with nintendo games, which redeems it a bit sure.
But I can't really agree with their hardware decisions as of late.
To be fair, Europe is a more progressive place than the rest of the world so I'm not one bit shocked about this revelation.

It is also the slowest selling console in Nintendo's history and is the console with the worst sales month ever. No amount of "But the Wii U is good guys we have Smash now!" will change the fact that both it's competitors outsold it's lifetime sales within a month of release.

That still doesn't stop it from being a good system. It probably had the worst marketing campaign possible. I think they might as well have put ads on tv of three men raping a snake and still got the point across better.

It was more the fact the Wii U didn't have more than a few noteworthy games for the longest time, really.
While that's not so much of a problem any more, the other consoles have caught up, and boast titles such as GTA5.

Home console, even Nintendo don't consider the Virtual Boy a home console. Also the Virtual Boy was discontinued in less than a year.
The only reason I'm considering an Xbox is for Halo. My PS4 is my babby
I bought my sister a XBone because she wanted to play the games on that and I got myself a PS4, so if either of us wants to play a game for a console we don't have we can just use the other's.
I am surprised how well the PS4 is selling while it got a library worse than the PS3's first year library in my opinion.
While it got its fair share of multiplats, the exclusive titles of the PS4 are very sorely lacking. Even the Xbone has still more interesting exclusives left at this point.
I get the feeling that Sony is just lazy with the PS4 in general after that abysmal E3 showing of Microsoft a few years back. The PS2 and even the PS3 had great exclusive titles in their libraries where even people who owned different consoles would be envious of that exclusive line-up, but these days I feel like the PS4 exclusive list is embarrassingly short and devoid of absolute world-beaters, even moreso if we scrap all the PS3 remasters from that list.

The PS3's launch lineup was terrible. All it had going for it was sports games and Ridge Racer, from what I remember.
Besides, I, personally, did NOT buy a PS4 because I wanted lots of exlusives. I wanted a machine that could play new games well and play old games fairly cheap. I got that. It just needs more games, period.

It had Motorstorm and Resistance you motherfucker :v:
Those games kept me busy too long for me to ever notice that there was a lack of games for the system
(and I bought the thing at launch for ~$1000)

Which is more or less why I mentioned the market cap. Which would compare the services the two offer against each other. You could even narrow it down to just sale of game software. Which is really the part I want to see.

Who said anything about that? I just said it's a good system. Lot of good exclusives; great companion system to a PC.

Yes, but the person you were replying to was mocking the Wii U for it's terrible sales numbers, not the consoles quality. Hence: "No Amount of "But the Wii U is good guys we have Smash now!" will change the fact that both it's competitors outsold it's lifetime sales within a month of release."
Phil Spencer from Microsoft sort of replies to this.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer has admitted that the Xbox has struggled in continental Europe and that Microsoft needs to do a better job in the region. "We need to do better in Europe," Spencer told Edge magazine. "When I look globally, mainland Europe is definitely an area we want to focus on." Spencer went on to admit Sony does a “really good job” due to its long history in the European markets and it has “earned the success in those regions.”
“I watch what they do because they do a lot of good things, and I want to make sure that we’re being smart about succeeding,” he continued. “And there are places like Latin America where Xbox does really well, and in the US the numbers keep going back and forth – it’s good competition which I think is good for everybody.
