Change to 'Bios' will make for PCs that boot in seconds

UEFI's been around for years, Why the hell are we taking advantage of it now?

Also only reason it's faster is because it takes advantage of the Processor and Ram more.
UEFI was announced ages ago
Yeah, it was announced ages ago, but they're finally switching to it as standard.

After nearly 10 years...

About EFI:
Linus Torvalds is so awesome he sleeps with nun-chucks.
.
Also it would be cool if the "UEFI" upgrades itself (at booting) when it has a connection to the internet. rater then the use of floppy's.
I disagree.
Knowing how sometimes developers get updates out a bit too fast, if they released an update that was faulty, you would be screwed. Unless all motherboards will have some sort of fallback feature with this system. But this just goes off my assumption that it will work somewhat like bios in terms of "fucking up".
Also, I don't see a problem with the current way we boot. Honestly, my grandmothers dell from 2003 boots up in a minute and a half. I don't mind waiting for it to boot. It's not like I can't find something else to do for that time.

Then it takes Vista a year and a half to load -_-.. stupid vista, my win7 laptop loads much faster..
The only reason vista doesn't load fast enough is that your computer is a piece of shit not made to run newer operating systems.
Oh and the "-_-"
Take it somewhere else.
I'm glad for this, my PC takes like 2 minutes to start up, it can be annoying when I'm restarting it a lot.
Ohhh, definitely going to get it when it's out.

It'll boot in 1 minutes 50. big deal.
Macs have had this forever. Windows computers couldn't get around to it due to compatibility reasons
Rate this man as many dumbs you want, but he's right. Apple have been using EFIs for a few years now, and that's why most Hackintoshs works with an EFI Emulator over the BIOS.
I never had a problem with my boot time.
Any computer that takes longer than a minute to boot is usually pretty shitty anyway.
I don't really care since I reboot about as much as I get laid.
Maybe you are OK with 1.30min boot time, some people are not. I'd rather prefer it to boot as fast as possible.
I would love to live in an age where our shit works, instead of taking 3 hours to boot, it only takes two seconds.
