woop woop, i make 10K a year and my state had $133 as the cheapest program (which are infamous for not paying up period). im just taking the penalty which would be like $95 a month.
You might want to reread on obamacare... Making only 10k per year you should be eligible for subsidies and in the event you can't pay for coverage even with subsides- your well into poverty level income which let's you get a waiver... No really- look into it again. With a 10k yearly income you should be eligible for Medicaid (which costs nothing)
The american health system is so confusing

Now all we need is nobamacare to not effect my insurance again. My premiums increased, and my Deductible TRIPLED since obama(doesn't)care took effect.
A cancer surviving mother with two daughters just finally got free healthcare after her husband left her with no money or anything. She depended on her son and her mother to pay for her required medical bags totaling easily over $700-800 a month because while the government granted her EBT and finacial assistance, They did not issue her health care. Obamacare allowed her to get free healthcare for her and her daughters, and get back money to pay back her son and her mother on the stuff they paid for before the plan. That person is my mother and my two sisters. To anyone saying obamacare isn't working, They filled the application out wrong, or they are pissed they can't work the system anymore.
Er, what? I never said obamacare isn't working, and I sure as heck didn't fill out the application wrong. I just don't make enough money to be applicable, is what they said. As for gaming the system.. er, what? I was uninsured previously?
That person is my mother and my two sisters.
I think everyone appreciates that this is working for YOUR family, but for my wife and I, we get to stay uninsured and now we have to pay a fine as well. I won't say anything more because so much bullshit has been flung on the issue, all I really know for a fact is how it has affected me personally, similar to you, who only knows the effect on your family. I humbly suggest you keep in mind that while your family has profited others have not, the fine, as I understand it, isn't all that bad so while I'm pissed I'm getting charged for being poor; I also realize the fine isn't actually a big deal. I guess my point is, don't say anyone who disagrees with you is wrong or dumb, I'm not wrong or dumb (I think) I honestly haven't benefited in any way.
we get to stay uninsured and now we have to pay a fine as well.
If you want to avoid paying the fine then be late on your electricity bill and get a shutoff notice. You can use this when you file your next taxes as a hardship exemption and you will not have to pay your fine. This is what I am doing. There is NO way I would be able to afford any health insurance, and I don't even believe I need it. Its a gamble i'm not willing to take as I'm 23 and I've only ever had one doctors bill in my life.
I dunno! I wish it was a fantastic system like a few people portray it as but it's hard for me to believe that and not be bitter when the insurance we had that payed for two hip replacements and a week long stay in the hospital after a stroke is getting cut down to a level where we'd be lucky to have it cover enough for a bottle of Tylenol and the water to choke it down with. Apparently our previous insurance didn't meet the new standards and this one does. :v:
Government takeover of Insurance system would have been so much more efficient in the first place.
Are we still getting fined for not having healthcare? Because I can't afford to have it or not have it if so.
Government takeover of Insurance system would have been so much more efficient in the first place.
Insurance shouldn't even be a thing in regards to healthcare and low-income earners. Eg the only way I can see health insurance being a thing is with stuff like access to private hospitals, doctors, GPs etc with shorter waiting lines and certain health costs mostly, if not fully, paid out by the insurer. Those without health insurance would have access to public health services with significant government subsidies on each cost.

However, there's a large number of people it isn't working for.

I'm not even sure if I'd say built, more like painted over.
