but i can't agree that all postprocess is a lazy tool devs use to cover up imperfections
i'm not saying general postprocess can't be used well, just the general usage of postprocessing in games which is color + grain + bloom (more or less). i would have no qualms with a game using postprocess well, but that's a rare sight. i will say that i'll give an exception to metro 2033 as it does look very nice, but mainly because i don't really feel it belongs in his list of "heavy film effects and color correction". the others i still stand by.
warmer, more aggressive tones if anything.
warmer doesn't translate to aggressive, it translates to summer in the context of BF3's big natural-esque maps.
Was going to buy it on release with a discount. Glad i didn't.
honestly, lots of people are going back to bc2. you'd think it'd be dead (which many people asked me if it was while i was playing) but it's not. you find like 70 populated servers with about half of them full.
well not playing that again
I only played the beta, but are the "colors" really so bad, that they stop you from playing a $50 game?
I only played the beta, but are the "colors" really so bad, that they stop you from playing a $50 game?
When I could be playing BC2, yes.
Wow. I almost fucking bought it!!! Good thing it's staying blue!
Fuck you dice. Fuck you. Fuck your battlefield 4. Fuck your everything. I am going back to battlefield 2 and bad company 2.
At first I thought that was a typo then i searched it. wasn't BF3 released 1 year ago? :v:
and it looks like shit in those films too. but it this case it ruins the art assets especially by muting and fucking up the original colors. not vocally, but i understood that it looks like shit. im vocal about it now because that's a dick thing to do to your userbase.
Honestly, the only film I can say that has done the color pallet reasonably well in the past decade, would probably be Moonrise Kingdom. It fit and it was appropriately used since it was filmed like a 70's movie. [editline]24th October 2012[/editline] Battlefields filter just looks like shit and makes the game harder to play. It's unnatural looking and sometimes you can miss people at first glance because they just blend in with the walls.

If anything they should be going to BF2 or BF2's mods such as PR or FH2
Unique is a funny way of saying dogshit.
BC2 sucked though, it was a game made for consoles. If anything they should be going to BF2 or BF2's mods such as PR or FH2
except bc2 is amazing and if you honestly think bc2 was made for consoles something is wrong with your perception.
except bc2 is amazing and if you honestly think bc2 was made for consoles something is wrong with your perception.
It is made for consoles, low player count and tiny maps. It aint BF. It was also originally only going to be on consoles but they ported it over because there was some demand and therefor profit.

If you think it was bad, your expectations are pretty damn high because to me it was a massive fucking improvement compared to bc1.
People play BF3?
Only when I don't get disconnected from EA. Which is always.
I just use the fxaa injector. It essentially does the same thing.
Wasn't it just a console command anyway? "Sorry guys, it'd just be too hard to implement and it would change too much."
The cooling filter doesn't look any different from many blockbuster films I've seen. Were you complaining about their color choices before this flip-flopping by Dice?
can't speak for him but I sure as fuck have been
And DICE continues to prove themselves as most disappointing developer of the decade. Such a shame that the same company that made masterpieces like BF2 and 2142 has degraded into this.

I actually reinstalled bf3 so i could use this command and now they don't want to release it. I mean, most of the community does not want it, so how hard is it to let people play the game without filter rape? They said it themselves it would not hurt to release it, why now..

DICE is the deviantart of the gaming world "nyaaagh it doesn't look bad it's our STYLE" way to shoot yourself in the foot by announcing it first, jackasses
customers never right
I wouldn't put all the blame on DICE, remember who owns them.
I'd put most of the blame into DICE since most of this was design changes and stuff that stockholders and publishers couldn't possibly care about no blame shifting!
if you want to be pretentious about "style" make mirrors edge 2 and i'll happily let you do whatever you want because at least mirrors edge is a game worth being so defiantly proud of. battlefield 3 isn't visually unique it's just technically impressive
I'd put most of the blame into DICE since most of this was design changes and stuff that stockholders and publishers couldn't possibly care about no blame shifting!
So do you have a viable scenario that caused them to change their mind? They seemed pretty sure about enabling the option.

DICE needs to be shutdown before they do any more harm to battlefield
