What a twist - DICE cancels color grading deactivation
I don't even go to ANY BF3 forums.
Off the top of my head, games I can think of that have a 'natural' color palette
- Gran Turismo, MS Flight Sim, Live for Speed/ETC games where that's the point
- Half Life games, except for some specific levels.
- Call of Duty games? They have a very small amount of it but not enough for me to consider stylized.
Games with a mild - moderate amount, disregarding cartoony games
- Assassins Creed series
- GTA IV
- Uncharted series
- Mirrors Edge
- Silent Hill games
- Skyrim
- Fallout
- Many Final Fantasy games
- Crysis 2
Games with heavy film effects and color correction, again not including cartoonish games
- Battlefield 3
- Killzone 2 and 3
- Metro 2033
- I Am Alive
- Silent Hill games
- Spec Ops: the line
- Deus Ex: human Revolution
- Lost Planet games
Heavy film effects on metro 2033? That was visually one of the most believable visuals I've played in a long time. Besides supernatural events and the Night vision goggles. Also Crysis 2 was heavy on effects, though a believable way.
Also can you guys stop calling it color correction. Unless the dev artists made everything off color, you don't need to correct it.
I actually reinstalled bf3 so i could use this command and now they don't want to release it.
I mean, most of the community does not want it, so how hard is it to let people play the game without filter rape? They said it themselves it would not hurt to release it, why now..
same reason they claimed they would look into adding VOIP before release then never added it
to get people to buy their game, hopefully everyone learned not to trust these fucks anymore
I stopped playing this game and uninstalled Origin ages ago.
DICE went full retard after the development of BF3.
Fuck you EA.
Counterstrike has been there since day one and the devs did not find the need to drown us in filters. Actually I'm playing it right now instead of your stupid ass game
So their signature is ugly ass overdone color correction

What about the mod tools that "would probably come 6 months after release"
Relevant.
Not buying BF4, I'm quitting competitive shooters for now.
Did you just call Battlefield 3, or 4, a competitive game?
Did you just call Battlefield 3, or 4, a competitive game?
If I'm not misunderstanding the definition of competing, then two teams in BF3 compete to win.
In general gaming slang competetive game is not only the game where you fight with each other but it is a game where you actually put maximum effort into winning when the game has put everything as balanced as possible. Mostly these games are the ones which are held during tournaments - Starcraft, Counter Strike, MOBAs...
Because obviously there's no such thing as a visual style, or a color scheme. You guys are morons.

No Eric. You are the morons.
competitive means player vs player
It should also mean challenging, or something skill-based, which BF3 is not.
I actually prefer the appearance with the colour grading turned on, but EA are dickheads for not giving us a choice.
Thought about buying it, really
but with pulling up this shit, they never going to see my money.
BF3 felt too much like CoD for me, mainly because "Omfg u need to unlox evryting"
I much prefer BF2 and BC2. Even though in BC2 it's the same with the unlocking, I just like BC2 more for some reason.
Not buying BF4, I'm quitting competitive shooters for now.
Pfffff, Battlefeild? Competitive?
Try Counter-Strike.
I don't play any of these warfare games (at least not since CoD MW), and even though the Battlefield games look better, I'd hardly call them unique with regards to their identity. Pretty bland colour wise.
I think I'm gonna rebuy Bad Company 2 and just stop playing BF3 all together.

I stopped finding BF3 fun a long while ago. I don't think the unimpressive DLC is going to sway me either.
I Only play BF3 now with my friends because teamwork is hella fun in bf3 but otherwise i tend to play other games because playing alone now is damn boring
Idk about you guys, but I'm going to keep playing BF3
Idk about you guys, but I'm going to keep playing BF3
you haven't gotten bored of it already? wow
It's like EA sent out a memo telling developers to actively make their fans like them, so they can get a new, compliant and younger fanbase.
At this point I wouldn't even want to buy Mirror's Edge 2 from DICE.
I wonder if some poor designer who was in charge of the color stuff got fired for being so inept at his job.
Oh, and way to go DICE! While some developers are encouraging people to build over their games and make something beautiful and unique, you're trying to "protect" your generic modern shooter. GG you fucking retards.
They are too ignorant or too much restricted by their publishers to let people mod their games. Look at Half Life 1 or 2, they are both modded the fuck out and people are buying them even today. Or Battlefield 2, or ArmA 2. They have so many total overhaul mods that are considered games of their own.

But that threatens DLC sales.
Think about the quarterly profits!!
The reason DICE pulls off this shit is because they are owned by shareholders, businessmen who could give less of a fuck about what DICE is selling. The bottom line is the quarterly profits.
Its a fucking grain filter
Get off your ~~arTiiStic~ high horses

I know, those businessmen are seemingly trying to pump as much money out of Battlefield 3 in shortest timespan as possible instead of making a stable game that provides good steady revenue for a long time.
you haven't gotten bored of it already? wow
When I'm playing alone after 2-3 hours it gets boring, but even with just one friend the game is really fun. Quitting the game because of a filter seems pretty stupid. Quit because of the gameplay, not because of the looks. Now stopping playing because you no longer support the developers is more valid, but still kinda iffy.
aaaaaand any hope of truly enjoying BF3 is gone
No, players, you're not allowed to modify the filters, enjoy your ban. Fuck you DICE

I'm sorry but after seeing comparison videos my balls exploded. I mean I like to fuck with colour settings in all my games to make them pretty, and now that I can't in one of the neater recent games, the whole experience seems kinda botched
I was playing Serious Sam 3 a few days ago and remembered that the game has an option to switch your color grading to anything from Call of Duty Brown, to "Vivid", to full on Black and White. That's the way things should be.
