That's cool. :colbert:
my feminists senses are tingling
I bet it'll be a swinging success.

So what exactly is the issue with this? I mean the character doesn't seem to have anything in common with spider man except the name.
No superpowers for one thing. Admittedly the whole character seems more of a forceful ship than anything terrible well thought out (16, female, latino descend, probably relationship issues which they don't mention yet nada nada nada) to make it hit the mark a lot more. Nevertheless there's still nothing wrong with the character from the get go.
Yet half of you act as if this were the beginning of the apocalypse.
Spider-Girl wears a skin-tight black outfit
I'm sold.
No really this sounds pretty crap.
rule 34 everywhere
Why? It sounds alot like the newest Blue Beetle, which was fantastic.
Oh... my...
Gentlemen, if this does turn out to be as good as Blue Beetle the Third, we must all buy a copy.
Writer Paul Tobin told the BBC that it was important to him not to portray her in a "sexualised" way, or as a "trophy" girl.
It won't.
Hasn't there been a spider-girl for a few years now...?
It was a part of "What if", so it isn't considered canon
It was a part of "What if", so it isn't considered canon
No, it was just an alternate universe.
This was an old Spidergirl I'm sure of it, the costume is exactly the same.
Also, could be interesting. Dammit but Marvel know my weakness, super hero Cameos :argh:
Name of Julia Carpenter, injected with an experimental chemical by the government.

Her costume is very similar to the second Spider-Woman's.
If they don't want to sexualize her, maybe they shouldn't have given her a skin-tight outfit.
I cant take this seriously.

My god, I want to have sex with her calfs.
And what does she shoot out of her nipples, venom or web?

A skintight full body outfit is VERY modest for super heroines, unfortunately.

+ it wouldn't be a spiderman character if they wore anything else.
+It is the perfect way to protect you identity- No race, no markings, only a silhouette of you basic body shape.
"People want to read stories with characters they relate to,"
So you can't relate to the current ones? Most superheroes are, in their normal form, very human.
Peter Parker is shy and introverted, nerds/geeks/introverted people can relate to him.
Tony Stark can be related to by Narcissists/Eccentrics/Extroverteds/whatever (and multibillionaires, but I'm not sure they make up for a large part of comic readers)
Hulk can easily be related to by people with anger problems.
And the list goes on. You don't need to be able to do what they do to relate to them.
Also
The makers, Marvel Comics, say she provides a positive, modern image of an empowered young woman.
Ugh, this shit again.
This will last long.

If this is the new spider girl then she is pretty legit.
Is there a reason she's even called Spider-Girl other than marketing, then? Is she just some obsessive Spider-Man fan?
jesus
What is the problem with this, Peter Parker was a teenager from New York too
Uh, you guys do realize that there have been Spider Girls before?
Like, five of them?
Why do I have the feeling most of you guys complaining about this don't even read comic books? Because if you did you would know that Marvel and DC have been coming up with a new spinoff version of a popular character every week for the past 50 years.

Oh God!
Her torso is so fucking long. What, did she just have an encounter with her arch nemesis, The Rack?
