That doesn't necessarily justify it, but it does give some context to something that juvenile. I think he made up for it with the classy songs afterwards and the dryer scene from the "Flight: Sock Puppets edition" scene.

Has william shatner ever been at the oscars hosting before, if so at least not as Kirk which is a first.
