• Seth MacFarlane made insulting jokes during the oscar - Jews, feminists and antiracists furious

I think I figured out my issue with this, I think it's not that I don't like Seth but I don't believe his kind of humor really belonged at a place like this. However, it seems to be going to shit anyway so it doesn't really matter anymore
You guys do know that a bunch of those were from rape scenes, right? Moreover, the song is basically going "Ha ha, we saw your boobs! You should be ashamed and embarrassed! Let's all make a big fucking deal over the fact that women have boobs!" Has he made a similar "we saw your dick" song? No.
it really shows the sexism in Hollywood, apparently there is a constant need or demand for boob flashing or full female nudity but rarely if ever a need or demand for any serious male nudity. At the end of the day, nudity is demanded allot more from actresses than actors
...isn't he Jewish?
I have a mental problem with those who are saying don't tell jokes that are offensive(or have the potential to be) regardless of context situation or humor you're basically saying jokes and humor can go to a certain arbitrary line but no further, once they're past that it's a bad joke and it's offensive, but that line is everywhere because someone could always be offended by some joke, if we're worried about being offensive then we better just not say anything, no? jokes and humor doesn't perpetuate rape culture or misogynistic elements in culture, people being sincere in their beliefs about people does. having a laugh openly over a touchy topic is not perpetuating that element over society.
because there's a fine line between shitty jokes that comes at the expense of others and satire that actually makes sense and is funny
I like the part where you don't know what satire is by definition. It's not what you think it is. [editline]27th February 2013[/editline]
you're unironically racist towards certain ethnic groups though
That invalidates his opinion on the matter how? Because the last time I saw lower parts of the woman body in Hollywood movie was... never. However, man's torsos are present more often then boobs. You're comparing boobs to dicks, which is not exactly right thing to do. I believe that "rules" on flashing genitalia in Hollywood are more or less indiscriminate.
...isn't he Jewish?
MacFarlane
...isn't he Jewish?
seth? i'm quite sure he's an atheist.
seth? i'm quite sure he's an atheist.
I think he meant nationality.
So he tried to be Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes but with less class.
ricky gervais? class? huh?
jokes and humor doesn't perpetuate rape culture or misogynistic elements in culture, people being sincere in their beliefs about people does. having a laugh openly over a touchy topic is not perpetuating that element over society.
Comedy and sincerity are often indistinguishable, especially by people who are sincere in those beliefs. There are places for jokes like this, in front of millions isn't one of those places
So if this was supposed to be racist, homophobic, sexist and anti-semitic what are jokes supposed to be like then? I mean should comedy stand still and all comics should only joke about airline food? But that might offend the hard working people who try to bring you the best in flight culinary experience possible. Yes some subjects are delicate, but that does not mean they should be exempt from comedy. The day people realize joking about != not taking it seriously will be a better day for all. I actually find the Jimmy Carr bit about how offence is taken not given very appropriate in these conditions. What I have an issue with is how these awards ceremonies are starting to resemble each other and just trying to be funny for the sake of being funny. I guess it really became a thing with Ricky Gervais, but what's wrong with having a serious ceremony with some light hearted jokes in between? I mean it is not supposed to be a stand up comedy show is it? Roasting people who are coming up is one thing, making one joke after the other is something else. But I do have a last question to everyone who feels offended or who feels it is inappropriate to joke about these things (except around friends I guess), what kind of jokes would you like to hear from comics? I am including their stand up tours and charity gigs as well, since those are watched by a huge number of people too.
I don't get how it's sexist like It's just stating a fact, some actresses showed their boobs in movies they did It's not like they were being exploited and it certainly isn't a bad thing, if anything it's a bad thing that women are expected to always cover up. I think the only reason people think this is sexist is because they think it's a bad thing to show your breasts.

These people can't make up their minds. More so. They don't care. Women are expected to cover up, it's okay to show man's torso, but it's not okay to show woman's breasts? That's sexist, no equality! Women showing breasts, expected to show them? That's sexist, it objectifies them! The same people. That's my problem with these folks. They devalue any real issue they can touch, making actual problems sound like it's all just a stupid fuss over nothing.
If they want breasts to stop being 'objectified' they should not take such care in keeping them away from men's eyes, so men get used to it.
who is they who are all these "they" people
If they want breasts to stop being 'objectified' they should not take such care in keeping them away from men's eyes, so men get used to it.
I agree, but hope that won't happen in my lifetime, I enjoy seeing girl's boobs for the first time in privacy. Edit: Wait, I just realised something, in this case by "they" you meant actually women, didn't you? If that's the case, I quite strongly disagree, woman can do what she wants. I thought it was about "censor everyone equally" people.
who is they who are all these "they" people
They. Should we invent another "social group" for people who just like to cry about offensive jokes and Holywood boobs sexism?
who is they who are all these "they" people
you know... them
They. Or was it all legitimate issue of Sony not finding random girl to read from paper? No one ever said anything about destructive nature of offensive jokes in this very thread? Or the article in the OP doesn't exist? Or is legit too?
idk how about we let women do whatever they want rather than try and tell them what's ok?
Oh I'm sorry, but in film industry infront of the camera you do what director tells you to. Last time I checked, nobody forced anyone in there. Men undress if needed, women undress if needed. It's very close to being equally often. Men still are shown topless more often. And no man's of woman's genitalia on screen.

To be perfectly honest the only reason the boob song was even a thing was because women's breasts are considered more erotic (which is obviously related to objectification of women) compared to men's breasts. I am pretty sure there were hundreds of movies last year when guys were topless, but it just doesn't draw much attention and you either see really toned, muscular guys topless to add sex appeal or you see overweight/loser characters as a throwaway gag, so male partial nudity is quite stereotypical too. Full frontal nudity, male and female, is quite rare.

And you can't deny that since they showed old previously recorded reactions where the women were acting uncomfortable.
