I suggest you look up the term skill ceiling.
Anyone can join a CoD game, load up with a grenade launcher or an UMP and go to town. That has nothing to do with the skill ceiling a game has.
MW1 was good. It's not the massively innovative FPS that people make it out to be but it certainly wasn't bad. MW2 was horrible, it took all the good things from MW1 and threw it out the window.
I thought MW2 online was kind of fun. the campaign was generic and boring. I stopped playing because the fan base started to drive me insane. "Yeah idk y anyone plays anything other than COD, it's the greatest game ever hurr 360 quickscope noob get pwnt". What boils my blood even more is the people who defend MW3 saying that it is a completely different game. It's not.

I don't think I have ever seen anyone defend MW3 by saying it's a different game.
Good as an expansion pack, bad as a game release. It's a bit like making space invaders and adding a save feature - it doesn't change the game much but just enough for them to release it again for more money.

It's nothing at all like that.
You guys are once again being retarded, it is suspiciously low, it is not deserving of such a low score no matter how retarded your opinion on it is. Metacritic user's are just bandwagoning stupids.
There's clearly a reason behind for all the hate. It's not because "hurr I'll make it low to be an asshole".

People are doing that then posting that they did that in this thread.
Triple the sales of Battlefags three, suck on it.
Typical fanboy, why can't CoD players accept that both are just games and to move along?

This is a good post.

Though Battlefield fans do the same shit in the same amounts, both sides are wrong. We should be enjoying both games and not hating the other one.
I like how now people are agreeing with rating a game you've never played just to bash it
Way to go full retard, FP
Showing you're just as bad as the CoD fanboys/Apple fanboys/Whatever

I don't mind that people like one game and dislike the other but people who rate a game they haven't played just for that reason are fucking dumbasses

Yeah, this fight between MW3 and BF3 is silly. There is no winner; They are both quality titles that deliver unique experiences for their respective series. The real winners this holiday season is the gamers who enjoy one or both of them.
Why not? If the game is acceptable to you, then you shouldn't care about its rating. Nor should a developer be asking the community to raise the rating. If they believe they made an acceptable product, then they should be confident enough to ignore a few negative ratings on reviews.
Excuse me if someone else mentioned this, but sometimes their income is partially based off metacritic scores

If I were to like GENERIC SHOOTY MAN GAME 4 and if another person were to like SHOOTY MAN ON SHOOTY MAN EPIC COMBAT FORCE 5, then I would respect their opinion. But for them to say LMAO U LIKE SHOOTY MAN GAME 4? UR GAY then it would get pretty damn annoying. They are both generic shooting games.

The real winners are Valve!
Anyway, I find this a bit funny.
People dislike our game? BLASPHEMY!
No, it's more along the lines of there are probably tons of people voting 0 just because they're riding the modern warfare hate bandwagon instead of just ignoring the game.

Actually, no. The REAL winners this season are Activision as they have (once again) broken every record and (once again) created the most successful* video game of all time.
[editline];[/editline]
I'd imagine MW3 generated at least double the profit that BF3 did for brand recognition alone.

Of course in the corporate sense there can be only one winner but I was more saying as far as video game players go, the consumers.
OK, so apparently the only way to truly settle this argument on whether or not MW3 is a rehash is to play through the entire MW series of games in a row.
I nominate myself to do so.
Weapons with recoil, new unlock system, huge knife nerf, huge shotgun nerf, huge nade nerf, huge perk nerf, new maps, new gamemodes (which is huge for CoD), Elite, new weapons, etc.
this is actually pretty funny because it looks like an update changelog
Every major title seems for the User score to drop immediately by trolls and dickbags.
This time is no different.
I never trust Metacritic com reviews.
Especially when this is a series which is in the sights of the bandwagon.
Heh, doesn't surprise me in the least. TotalBiscuit's WTF Is pointed out a whole host of issues with the PC version. Lag, FOV, silly unlock system, things like that.
You guys are once again being retarded, it is suspiciously low, it is not deserving of such a low score no matter how retarded your opinion on it is. So it's impossible for someone to genuinely dislike it and rate it appropriately?
Modern Warfare 3 is worth a rent. I got it through GameFly. Its fun but its the same repackaged shit. Still a bunch of fun with friends from school though.

Right.. And as I mentioned, Steam displays the Metascore which is a separate rating from the User Score. The current Metascore for PC from seven critics is 81/100.
So, there is no significant reason for this developer to request better ratings. I also find it hard to believe that they'd make potential income based on Metacritic to begin with, considering that the main audience probably purchase it the week it was released, and from those that probably camped outside their local game store the day it was released.

Yes, because reviews are made of positive and negative points, not only negative remarks and "x game is better".
Over time, as the masses get news of this, the console scores have gone up, whilst the PC's has gone even lower.
because there's no way that your great game is doing that poorly despite the fact that the better half of the gaming community knows that you only made this game to milk not only the franchise but milk the money from all your loyal 12 year olds and/or idiots

If you're saying there's no significance in users rating the game down, then what's the problem with the dev wanting it to be rated up? If it has no significance as you claim.
I think that if a studio such as Sledgehammer Games wants to be seen as successful, it's important not to have an overwhelmingly negative popular vote. They have to make games in the future to be approved by publishers and if they're getting 90% of respondents posting a score below 2 then it's going to harm their image.
