Encyclopedia Dramatica owner could be charged over 'offensive' aboriginal article

i think that it is particularly funny that many people acknowledge the aboriginals as the past custodians of their land in some sort of reparation attempt. but then do nothing about it
"hey this is your land but you can't have it back i'm using it"
Rudd is an aboriginal

We said sorry, what more do they want?!
They can have their land back when they stop acting out the stereotypes.

Aborigines believe that they belong to the land, and all the immigrants since then believe that the land belongs to them.
Anyway seriously I can't believe how far Australia has come towards censoring our media. I find it completely immoral.
They claim to be protecting us, but who are they to decide what's right for us to view? The government should not have so much control over the media, it just leads to corruption.
I love how because it's much more a minority and unknown people can get away with racist comments here, compared to if you'd said it about a black person.
To be fair they don't have a very good image, I was in Australia for a month and the only thing I heard about Aborigines was a news story about one who'd been sniffing petrol and raping kids.
As for the actual story, well it's the Australian goverment, expecting any better is naive.
The online community Anonymous, which is responsible for several hacking attacks against government websites in protest of the proposed filter, is strongly associated with Encyclopedia Dramatica.
How long before they (Aus) decide to label 'anonymous' a terrorist organisation or just ban them?
Do they have to be complaining about something all the time?
I never knew about this until now. All this publicity just makes me want to see it for myself.

When your government takes everything seriously, the line between serious racism and satire becomes blurred.
In Australia it's custom to ban anything that can hurt or offend someone.

I hadn't read it up until I read this news piece. So I read it.

They need to get the meaning of 'Satirical Purposes'
ED isn't satirical. Satirical means they're making a social or political point.
ED has no motive except to try to piss people off.

Yeah but that's the whole point really. They are allowed to do it so they do. And make this face while doing it.

admit it, if Australia didn't exist the world would be a much more boring place.

Yes, but that doesn't make it satire.
I think the Aussie Government just needs to take a step back, sit down, drink a nice cold one of Fosters and just look at what they're doing from a different perspective.
Or get a sense of humor.
I was going to make a hilarious post that TH89 was going to have a field day with this thread... But he already is..
this just in: Australia bans Australians. More at 11 :foxnews:
I don't understand how one group finds something offensive and it becomes the worst thing imaginable, when the site is full of hate filled articles and mindless banter.
I find it hard to believe Americans will protest a slight rise in some of the lowest tax rates in the world but the Australians won't do shit about their government slowly banning everything.
They should have read the offended page before thy pressed charges.
Summary of article: australia gets trolled and doesnt even know it
It takes a little more than cramming "lulz" in to each sentence and linking every other word to a meme to be considered satire.
admit it, if Australia didn't exist the world would be a much more boring place.
if they didn't exist, we wouldn't have to cower in fear of the thought of their crossbreed of whorish butthurtness and thickskulled "boss" outspeaking thickskulls, contaging the rest of the "free" world. this is what EXTREME dictatorships do.
also, america used to be the exiting thing. you never know what war tomorrow brings... those teen nations, they grow up so quickly... too bad the told old mother england to fuck off with her life lessons... well, whatever, i still support an independent warmongering americah. *pumps shotgun in texas*
anybody know that ED had a "missing white woman syndrome" article? what the...? awesome.
What the fuck? I didn't find the website that honest but seriously, this is fucking bullshit. Freedom of speech applies as the internet as long as there aren't any administration. Heck, even if it did, it made fun of everything. They hate everything except for porn (and themselves). Heck, they even say it's not done in a true way and everything they say is wrong.
This is a huge leap back in internet freedom. Hopefully the members of Australia (I'm considering them oppressed at this point) does not need to face such retarded control over this law. Disgusting.
ED is being ironic, and are making fun of the people who make fun of Aboriginals far more than the Aboriginals themselves.

maybe that's the rEAL deal?
I find it hard to believe Americans will protest a slight rise in some of the lowest tax rates in the world but the Australians won't do shit about their government slowly banning everything.
Because American Citizens are willing to express their ideas and opinions.
