This movie looks painfully awful
Did he actually just say "le sigh" unironically?
That is the only real crime I see here
I don't think it's about it being offensive, it's more just the fact they're releasing a movie, on the 11th of September, and didn't think for one second "MAYBE WE SHOULDN'T HAVE AN EXPLODING BUILDING ON OUR MOVIE POSTER IF IT'S COMING OUT ON A DAY ASSOCIATED WITH EXPLODING BUILDINGS"
So it could be a day either side and no one would get offended? Just say it was released in a different time zone
People are so fucking sensetive holy shit
I would've never made the connection unless someone pointed it out.
You are supposed to never forget. What the fuck is wrong with you
So it could be a day either side and no one would get offended? Just say it was released in a different time zone
Probably not, no. To be fair, the 11th of September is a specific day. It would be like, in the UK, having a movie coming out on the 7th of July (which at least might be chosen for a reason other than it being a specific day since it's matching day and month), with the poster featuring an exploding train or something. It's a fairly specific day, with a fairly specific subject, and the fairly specific subject is tragically linked to the specific day. It makes it look like they didn't even try at all.
I doubt the person making the poster new what date it was going to be released on.
Really guys? I'm not overly sensitive but even I can see how someone could be offended by a poster of people falling out of a burning building advertising the date of the worst terrorist attack in modern history known for, amongst other things, images of people falling out of a burning building. Nobody's saying the poster is intrinsically offensive but it's an extremely poor decision to pair that imagery with that date. This isn't some distant historical event we're talking about, thirteen years is not a long time and it's not right to tell people who lost friends or family members to just get over it. If it were any other day of the year this wouldn't be an issue.

And if you didn't know this, Leo's wearing a handy button on his strap to remind you.
Knock, knock. Who's there? 9/11. 9/11, who? Never forget. Knock, knock. Who's there? 9/11. 9/11, who? GODDAMNIT, I SAID NEVER FORGET!
Why do I have a feeling that they probably did this on purpose to grab attention
the only thing that's offensive here is the god awful redesigns especially Donatello's Jesus fuck
I'd just like to point out that Leonardo is Johnny Knoxville, Shredder's a white dude, and Splinter is Tony fucking Shaloub. There could be a scene where Michael Bay takes a greasy shit on Ground Zero and wipes his ass with an American flag, and it still wouldn't be more offensive than what I just said.
Die Hard banned for offending people and hurting feelings
Die Hard wasn't released on September 11th. Die Hard came out BEFORE 9-11-11
I would wholeheartedly say it would be complete unoffensive because of it's vague similarities. But you seriously had to make the date 9/11 like really there's 364 other days you could use you had to use that one to accompany your splosionz
Wait why the fuck does Australia care more than actual Americans about getting offended by something that remotely resembles 9/11?
Spoiler alert: Nobody in Australia really gave a fuck after 9/11 about 9/11 The amount of 9/11 jokes cracked around here would make Americans want to nuke this Country
michelangelo did 9/11
I always though the machine Donatello was working on in the intro for the 80's series was supposed to be a coffee machine or something. This has opened my eyes to the fact that it was actually some kind of bomb.
It it didn't have September 11 on it then it would be completely fine, couldn't they release it September 12 or something instead?
This reminds me of an ad I saw running in the Winnipeg Free Press for a restaurant chain called Boston Pizza, something along the lines of "having a blast", right after the Boston Marathon bombing. It's likely one of those things that should have come up at some point during a meeting or a focus group but it just didn't.
It's funny, but only if you think about it and forcefully make the connection. Kind of like if you go to Wal Mart and buy a Jenga set on 9/11. It's funny only if you force the connection

Meh, I don't care, what I do care about is the fact Micheal Bay and Megan Fox are about to ruin another franchise, I weep for the 80's kid I once was
Jesus Christ, it's been 12, nearly 13 years since 9/11. Between the wearing effects of time and idiots abusing the event's impact for both patriotism excuses and passing awful legislation in the U.S., 9/11 has little meaning beyond historical significance and the emotional impact on the actual families of those killed. Not every single goddamn exploding building with people falling out is a 9/11 analogue. For fuck's sake, drop it already. It was a horrific and tragic event that hurt so many people that it's insane, but dragging its importance and name through the mud by going "WAHH EXPLODING BUILDINGS DISRESPECT 9/11" and making awful "protective" legal acts that thoroughly ass-ram personal privacy/individual freedoms does the event and the victims no favors. In fact, constantly bringing it back up without need and/or manipulating it for personal gain actually disrespects the dead and their families far more than its mere mention.
