I am? Wow, more than I knew!
Something wrong with that? That I hold on to some family values, but not all?

Quiet nice actually, To bad about the negroes and this crap called "rock n roll" tho....
Yeah, there's quite a few things wrong with being sexist.
War changes people. Can fill soldiers with a feeling of no propose, feeling alone, hated, outside of everyone else. Survivors guilt. Anger, depressions.
And those problems can evolve, Battlefield fatigue, trauma, stress.
Add a woman in that.
And a man close to mental breakdown.
I Know it sounds wierd and distant for all feminists and other people here, but it is real.
And if not so, the enemy will most definitely exploit the captured women in propaganda and demoralization.
A family can always survive without a father. But without a Mother you are fucked.
"This is for your own good." Positive discrimination is still discrimination.
The US military is incompetent of investigating sexual assaults
Before, yes. Now? Nah. Not at all, quite the opposite.
Yeah, there's quite a few things wrong with being sexist.
As I am for equality, but also for that some traditional values are important to be had in society, does that make me the devils advocate or what?
Since I work in meny "male dominated" areas because of my skill, I often see where brains and brawns are needed, most women here in Sweden has the "IF THEY CAN I CAN" attitude, won't listen to their superiors because of gender or just because of superiority!
Which means that I usually have to stay after hours to fix their fuck ups, Most of the women that I work with Can't stand that I am a bit more "traditional" that I am young etc.
In work, I don't care if you have a dick or vagina, I care about the quality of the work and who you are as a person.
But since most of the problems I've had with colleagues 7/10 times has been of the different sex. I can't say much good about them IN work.
Does that still make me a sexist?

So, you would not tell your child, even tho that your child is capable of driving 200mph, not to do so "for his/her own good"?
Does that still make me a sexist?
yeah
yeah
Then I'm fucked either way? C:
"I hate women and think they should stick to their place in society but I'm not sexist I'm just traditional"
"I hate women and think they should stick to their place in society but I'm not sexist I'm just traditional"
women and single fathers too apparently
As long as standards don't lower I'm fine with it. If you can hump a M2 receiver 20 miles without falling out I'm good.
If you have to lower the standards that's a problem. Combat roles are just that, combat. You are expected to fight, and you'll be at the front lines. If your inability to keep up holds everyone back you have now become a liability to not only yourself but the rest of your platoon.
"I hate women and think they should stick to their place in society but I'm not sexist I'm just traditional"
Where did I say that I hate women? And that they should stick to their place in society?
If everything is measured equally, there is no problem with Women in the armed forces what so ever, but almost EVERY country that I know of so far, has had some "differences" in training and combat training in the forces.
Which means that they may NOT perform as well and ends up being a liability in combat.
Can we get coed everything now, like in starship troopers?
You're for equality but for traditional gender roles
Oxymoronic as heck
You're for equality but for traditional gender roles

At work we are supposed to be equal, but as in a family role I'm a bit more traditional. Does this make it a bit more clearer?
At work we are supposed to be equal, but as in a family role I'm a bit more traditional. Does this make it a bit more clearer?
Not if you still think women shouldn't be allowed to do "men's jobs"
Keep the standards just as high as they are now and that won't be a problem.
He may be right though. Women may demand lower standards in the name of equality like they did with the Seals, etc.
Lower standards =/= equality. Anyone that makes claims otherwise should be rightfully mocked for being a moron.
At work we are supposed to be equal, but as in a family role I'm a bit more traditional. Does this make it a bit more clearer?
Do you know what gender equality means, like, at all? And why can't men be caretakers?
[editline]3rd December 2015[/editline]
Lower standards =/= equality. Anyone that makes claims otherwise should be rightfully mocked for being a moron.
When it comes to stuff like the military there should absolutely be no lower standards based on sex and stuff. In the end, all soldiers serving in the army should have a certain efficiency independent of who they are, what they are. That is true equality.
Not if you still think women shouldn't be allowed to do "men's jobs"
On equal bases, tests etc I'm fine if everyone can perform to the expectations!
But when you see some of the stuff that I have experienced as a truckdriver, logistic planer, builder and carpenter, you kinda ask yourself "how in the fuck did they manage to complete the basics"
Or maybe Swedish women are just lazy and comfortable I dunno.
Yeah, but if you're the kind of piece of shit who would do that, you deserve to get thrown into Leavenworth.
Actually if you look into studies just in the US its fairly common for women and male soldiers to be raped by their own while serving in non combat situations, what's worst is the victims are told to keep quiet as they can lose rep and probably never be promoted for speaking up or the people who committed the crime aren't punished and are left to do it again.
The studies suggested that it was more a power trip for those involved and had nothing to do with sexual preferences.
Keep the standards just as high as they are now and that won't be a problem.

They will. PT standards for women are a fraction of what they are for guys in all branches. In the navy, for 18 year old males 47 pushups is considered barely satisfactory, for females it's an outstanding which is the highest grade you can get and it directly reflects their evaluation.
Men and women are equally capable of achieving the same physical feats. There are biological factors that, in general, affect their progress, but they have the same final capacity for physicality as men. Those biological factors don't explain why capable women are discouraged from achieving what they can - that's a social factor.
There is a really big fucking difference between "can" and "will" when you talk about making a soldier out of a woman.
There are women bodybuilders and extreme athletes. Compared to... how many men bodybuilders and extreme athletes?

Are you fucking.
What
Is this guy legit?
"I hate women and think they should stick to their place in society but I'm not sexist I'm just traditional"
Can you stop doing this? All he said is that he thinks it's ok for women to take the traditional role as the caretaker in a family. He did not say he hates women, single fathers, or any of the crap you guys put in his mouth.
As for the actual thread topic, I think this is fine. Warfare has changed a lot, and about the only position you could argue against putting women in is infantry. But as long as they keep the same standards they've always had it should be fine.
Haha are you serious? Our military is still absolutely pathetic when it comes to dealing with sexual assault and other similar issues.
Lol, explain. Also when I say before I mean before the whole 'Silent War' documentary. Tell me all about your personal experience with this topic since I'd like to hear it.

Before? Yes. Now? Nah doesn't really happen as often as you'd like to think anymore.

Women already meet the standards for most combat arms jobs so there is no need to lower them. They won't change despite the warrantless fear mongering
Can we get coed everything now, like in starship troopers?
That'd be nice, but the problem is that unlike Starship Trooper's society, we have a constant taboo of anything sexual.
Haha are you serious? Our military is still absolutely pathetic when it comes to dealing with sexual assault and other similar issues.
Funny that we have so many universities across the US seeking guidance from the US Military on how to combat sexual assault/harassment on their campuses.
What's so special about 2015 as opposed to 2014 or 2016?
it's a figure of speech holy fucking shit
it's a figure of speech holy fucking shit
Its a figure of speech that means absolutely nothing.
Are you for real?
please tell me that was meant ironically or something
Because that comment was so serious?
Right?
I just realized that I was going off of really outdated information, I apologize.
