Yea, I didn't bother to read the article. Well, that does change things a tad bit. Thing is, she needs to learn to control her words and not endanger herself with such radical statements. I understand that she may feel strongly about it, but she is not a politician, she does not need to go into such extreme detail about how she feels about the Bible. Pure and simple. Putting her in jail is extreme, but that is how it is over there and she overstepped the boundary.
Or they can stop being religious fanatics and arresting people for their opinion. She didn't overstep shit. No one should be jailed for an opinion. And she was ASKED about her views. Generally when you're asked your opinion on something you give your opinion.
Then whats the point of asking her views about the Bible if it has to be a fixed answer?
What do you mean fixed answer? What I meant is that when being presented with such a question, one needs to be assertive and not so brash and radical. The art of being ambiguous is not something unique to linguistic masters. She played with fire, and got burned.
What do you mean fixed answer? What I meant is that when being presented with such a question, one needs to be assertive and not so brash and radical. The art of being ambiguous is not sometime unique to linguistic masters. She played with fire, and got burned.
Her answer wasn't really brash or radical. Oh, so now you're justifying their actions because she, "played with fired and got burned." You're being an apologist for these religious nuts who have no regard for respecting someone else's opinion?
This is extremely ironic, FP hates Christians and thinks they're all moronic, racist inbreds that should all be sent to jail, and then whenever the shoe is on the other foot, they bitch and moan.

That is very dumb, especially in a interview.
She said she doesn't believe in the Bible, she then later expressed her reasoning.

Way to generalize. I don't think any person on here wants to jail Christians. I don't mind them as long as they don't do stupid shit like this. Poland is run by religious nuts so it's not that surprising.
And we're "bitching and moaning" because this person is being arrested for an OPINION. Are you actually supporting this?

This.
She shouldn't be going to jail, but it was still a stupid thing to say.
If someone here called Darwin a drunken fool who had no idea what he was talking about, everyone would 'rage'
If someone here called Darwin a drunken fool who had no idea what he was talking about, everyone would 'rage'
And they're entitled to do so because anyone who says that is a fucking idiot.
Way to ruin the image with the stupid xd emote.
hurr xdxdxd i am so funni.
Get over it.

Also that was sarcasm if you still didn't get it.
Trust me, a majority is. You don't go into a country and go against the majority and expect no repercussion. And the fact that the church has so much power in such a country even makes things worse for her. She should have done her research.
Every atheist and agnostic in the United States goes against the majority, yet you don't see people getting arrested for stupid shit like that here.
But the Bible WAS written by drunkards and junkies.

Is Poland anti-reality now?
this is exactly why I hate polish government

Hopefully PO or SLD get in then maybe it'll be better. I miss Kwaśniewski.

Restrictions on free speech ruin the world.
This is rediculous. "Your opinion differs from mine, and i don't like it so i'm sending you to jail"
What happened to free speech?
You are free to say everything you want.
However, you have to deal with the consequences.
Your freedom ends where you hurt the freedom of others.

Are you saying insulting the Bible's writers is hurting the freedom of others?

Oh he was wrong on many things. For example he described black people as closer relatives to apes and monkeys than white people.

No I'm not.

So you're defending the right to jail someone for having a different opinion and speaking it?
Did the IQ of facepunches goldies drop to 20?(Minus JDK and some others)
No opinion ever deserves to have you jailed, no opinion truly hurts anyone else, your freedom to say your opinion should never be infringed. There should be no legal consequences to any statement.
Speaking out an opinion is not just as easy to judge as you say it.
There are many aspects, you can't just simplify it.
For instance there is also the way you say it.
You can say "I strongly doubt the historical correctness of the motivations of chriatian believe and rules, for a fact the bible as we know was written 400 a.c. and tanslated many times".
You could also say "Christians have no clue of history their believes are stupid fuck them"
Just an example.
Of course opinion doesn't hurt anyone. However, not anyone has his own and that's where the danger lies.
You can disagree and still keep the respect for others.
Of course the OP story is a huge overreaction, I'm just saying that we also shouldn't fall into "no way people can say what they want whenever and about whatever" just because we have a bad example of the opposite here.
When blindly defending freedom of speech you forget the power of speech.
Also "you're".

That is her husband who is on trial. How in the fuck can you take that moron seriously?
Because metal musicians always dress that way, right?

You're a fucking idiot. That guy is smarter and more successful than you'll ever be. He's done more with his life than you likely ever will. That's also him in costume for performance.
He's a renowned death metal singer and frontman, and has undoubtedly touched more people with his music than you ever could.

The power of speech doesn't exist without the freedom to use it. Freedom of speech should not be restricted unless it's a direct safety hazard, for example, yelling "FIRE" in a crowded movie theatre or place. Otherwise, speech should not be restricted.

I'd get banned for calling you an asshole :(
Of course the power of speech exists without freedom to use it. That's why propaganda works so well.
And speech can be a violation of personal rights. That's why we get banned for flaming(partly).
Speech is restricted by what you are talking about and I think insulting believes and ideals of other people without providing any reason to do so is not 100% A-OK, like in this example.
I can understand people who like this popstar and are Christians can be upset about what she said. Jail is an overreaction as I stated above but I still think it's not ok and when it's happening in national media it's particularly difficult.

Why should speech be limited because someones feelings will be hurt because I called them an asshole or an ignorant shit? Why should that be limited? Should I sugar coat it? It really doesn't matter what words you use, it's the intention behind the words, and almost any word can convey the intention behind calling someone a fucking idiot, it might not be as effective, but intention is the key to speech, not words. Why limit words? Would you rather limit intention? Don't pretend for a second that there's a rational way to say speech should be limited.
HumanAbyss speaks the fuckin' truth.
There's a huge fucking difference between actual opression and expressing your opinion. And just because you're free to do so doesn't mean you can't be corrected either.

I'm not pretending. I'm trying to bac up my opinion.
You are right. It's the intention behind those words and of course you can't limit words and speech. However you can create consequences.
I'll leave the stupid story in the OP out of the calculation for reasonable argumentation.
but intention is the key to speech, not words
I agree with this. But (without trying to rip it from your context) that's the point for me.
That's where we should be careful. Of course you are not banning a ord or phrase when you are banning. You are banning the INTENTION!
(and by banning I don't mean removing the possibility of using it, I mean imposing consequences for using it which is almost the same but just almost.
anning on a forum is preventing the user to post, that's different)
Why limit words? Would you rather limit intention?
Correct here too. You can't limit words or intentions, that's not how the world works. However you can(I'm sorry if I repeat myself, it's not my first language) use a "ban" (may be a ban from media, arrest, whatever) to symbolize:" hey, we think something is wrong with what you are saying (and therefor intending) here and since we are the ones in power, think again."
That's a different level of communicating.
That guy is smarter and more successful than you'll ever be. He's done more with his life than you likely ever will. That's also him in costume for performance.

Even if that's true that argument is ridiculous. It's the same argument people use to justify Justin Bieber, Soulja Boy, Jonas Brothers, etc.
