She should sell this to the Wild Bill museum in Cody, Wyoming. They have a massive and amazing historical firearms exhibit. It's about a third of the museum. I don't recall seeing one there.

Sort of. Some people consider the Fedorov Avtomat to be the first actual Assault Rifle, even though it was classed as an Automatic Rifle because the term "Assault Rifle" hasn't been created yet.

Whether it was the first or not, the StG 44 is what codified the Assault Rifle and essentially created the specifications. Hitler ordered the weapon be called a Sturmgewehr, or "Storm Rifle", storm as in 'to storm / assault a position', hence Assault Rifle (and yes, that means Hitler personally named the new class of rifles that we use today).

fedorov avtomat would be classified a battle rifle since it used a full size cartridge, similar to the BAR/AVS-36, etc.

The Fedorov isn't chambered in an intermediate caliber like 7.62x39, it's a full size rifle catridge. If anything, it's just a battle rifle or Light machine gun, like a BAR or AVT40

I think WWII vintage rifles are really cheap there.

though garands are cheaper here
