A petition signed by over 1million to prevent Donald Trump receiving official state visit in Britain
Calls are being made to cancel a proposed state visit to the UK by President Trump after he issued an executive order clamping down on immigration to the US.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said it would be "totally wrong" for the visit to go ahead later this year.
A petition to stop it has reached over 500,000 meaning it will be considered for debate in Parliament.
The visit was announced during PM May's trip to the US - no date has been set.
Downing Street was asked for a response to the calls to cancel. A spokesman said: "We extended the invite and it was accepted."
Buckingham Palace has declined to comment.
The petition itself (which is already at 750,000): https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/171928
I suggest to British posters to signing it as well. Frankly its disgusting that Donald Trumps actions are affecting innocent British citizens.
Signed it. Screw this asshole.
I already signed it.
I doubt it will do much, but I signed it anyway.
I would ask Non-Brits not sign this - it is intended for British citizens and residents. People used foreigners signing the Brexit petition as a sign it was fake and not representative of
Already signed it. That hairy tangerine will not be welcome here.
Not sure how to feel about this myself, though I would like the UK to wake up and give Trump a bit of a slap.
I remember a while back before the elections an identical petition popped up, and people slammed it because "but we gotta be diplomatic" "he's not gonna be that bad"
Quite a funny turn of events. I'll be signing

Aren't other nations of the commonwealth technically under the authority of the Queen? I'd say their word is relevant too.
It was on 250k 3 hours ago. :v:
I signed this earlier this afternoon when it was going up at a rate of about 2000 signatures a minute.
It was beautiful.

Technically, but it explicitly says UK citizens or residents.
I could sign it if I had my dual citizenship but I haven't bothered getting it yet.
Meh they'll just ignore it like all the other high profile petitions or have a pseudo-discussion about it.
Signed it when it was at 80k, holy crap.

Yes the Queen is our Head of State here, but as an Australian resident (as opposed to a UK resident), Trump's state visit to the UK is none of my business. None of my tax dollars will go towards hosting Trump in the UK, because I only pay tax to Australian governments. Just like with the US petition, it should only be people living in the country of that petition who should sign it.
Signed it. Screw this asshole.
Matey seriously, don't sign these kinds of petitions if they aren't in your own country.
Already signed it. That hairy tangerine will not be welcome here.
Hey, he isn't exactly welcome here either. Ya'll only have to deal with him stinking up your soil for a couple days. We have to deal with him doing that until he dies...
Doesn't banning him from visiting the UK make us just as bad as him?
Doesn't banning him from visiting the UK make us just as bad as him?
NO.
Doesn't banning him from visiting the UK make us just as bad as him?
Nope. Any person with a sense of humanity does not want this bastard to step foot in their country.
Doesn't banning him from visiting the UK make us just as bad as him?
It would be the same as him if we banned all Americans or something

I know my flagdog says Canada but I actually have tri-citizenship. I'm a Yankee, a Canuck and a Brit all wrapped into one. I have every right to sign this if I so wish.
Doesn't banning him from visiting the UK make us just as bad as him?
Banning 1000000's of people because of a few assholes != banning a single asshole.
Doesn't banning him from visiting the UK make us just as bad as him?
In what possible sense? This is an act of diplomatic protest against his policy.
You'd think they could implement a simple check to see the IP address originated from UK to count. I mean you could always use a proxy but it would be something.
And... we are past 800,000.

Would screw over UK citizens not currently inside the UK for whatever reason
This is gonna break a million, bloody hell.
Would screw over UK citizens not currently inside the UK for whatever reason
Yeah but then they're going to look at it and say something like "these signatures are from foreigners because of their ip" like they've done in the past and throw it out because theirs no data showing that.
Signed it. Screw this asshole.
I say let the democratically elected leader of a country do what he campaign to do.

No. Fuck that. Not when it's blatantly hurting the country and innocent people.
