Doesn't this basically sound like the US being a "Microsoft fanboy" and Google is suing them for making their first and only choice Microsoft? There's plenty of fanboys for almost anything. They refuse to even look at other products, whether it be video cards, music players, games, or pretty much anything. If this succeeds, does that mean a company could sue a "fanboy" for not even looking at or taking note of their products?
fuck off google

Yep.
Yep.
Not really, I mean, the Government isn't supposed to allow for monopolies, and if they don't give any other company the chance, then that company (Microsoft) monopolizes the Government computer field
"The court hereby orders the government to take Google application into consideration."
Google: GREAT VICTORY :buddy:
"Uh ok... We've decided to still stick with Microsoft."
But individuals can't really cause a monopoly on their own, which is really the big problem here, but I doubt it's actually what's going on

There are also people who like what they've got and know how to use it efficiently and would rather not take a chance at another product due to the small chance it won't work as expected or may take time getting used to.
You don't find it funny as fuck that the USA uses an OS that's almost 10 years old?
There's a good reason for that. They don't use operating systems for the same reasons that normal users use them for. The U.S. government also receives specially tailored security updates from Microsoft.
I'd be fine with living in the United States of Google.
Unless they force everyone to use Chrome. Nothing personal, I just prefer good ol' Firefox.

What.
I know on NASA computers, they installed Firefox.
Most of the stuff they do online is through special encrypted software though.
I work for NASA, and yes I use Firefox since I use Linux, but nothing is really encrypted...
But this has nothing to do with creating a monopoly. The government is a customer/client just like everyone else, and if they choose to use one company's products instead of another's, that's their right, as is everyone's. If that weren't true then Apple could sue me because I refuse to buy any of their products.
The US government has an enormous amount of buying power and can single-handedly create a monopoly by choosing one company over another. Not much of an issue when we're dealing with Google and Microsoft (which already have hundreds of millions of customers) but the precedent is there. This lawsuit isn't as bullshit as you think.

The problem is....they haven't created a monopoly...EVER in fact they helped stop several.
Poor Linux. They always forget Linux. :(

Can't say no to free global wireless.

I find it funny.
It's just not ironic.
Actually if you read the article, it says Google was unfairly denied to even pitch their software to the government.
Boohoo. In this case, the government is the consumer. As a consumer, you are free to pick whatever you want for any reason you want.
That's like Ford suing you for not even considering their trucks after buying a Toyota.
