Serves you right for that god awful pc port of saints row 2
Do you understand how investors, publisher + developer relationships, sales margins, hell, even money works? It's not like these guys are literal demons that enslave developers with "EVIL" publishers for no fucking reason. [editline]7th January 2013[/editline] Also, this "wahhh EA will ruin it" bullshit is pretty annoying. There's plenty of EA-titles that haven't been destroyed by "day 1 required multiplayer-only hashed out DLC," like Dead Space and Mirror's Edge.
We'll see how Dead Space 3 turns out.
We'll see how Dead Space 3 turns out.
Do you have any reason to hate Dead Space 3 besides those terribly misinformed articles that claimed "dead space 3 is going to be less scary and co-op only?"
Why does this shit have to happen to decent companies?
Because being a decent company won't be as successful
Do you have any reason to hate Dead Space 3 besides those terribly misinformed articles that claimed "dead space 3 is going to be less scary and co-op only?"
Do you have any reason to believe I hate Dead Space 3? All I said was that we'll see how it turns out. You really must think yourself higher than everyone else because all I see you do is come into every thread EA related or where someone mentions EA and you do nothing but defend the company.
Is no one else concerned about the South Park game?
Because being a decent company won't be as successful
exactly. if every publisher on earth decided to suddenly shift "good", they wouldn't make enough money to sustain themselves or keep pushing out titles. the reason EA makes their games "badly" and "casual" is because they need to appeal to a large audience to stay above water. valve has it easier because they make money not only from their titles, but from running the most successful PC distribution service online. they have a lot of cushion to fall back on if one of their games flops. EA, on the other hand, shuts down developers if their game doesn't make ends meet. yeah, it sucks that westwood is gone, but it would not be economically feasible to keep a studio that wouldn't output enough money to stay viable. please don't even reply to me if all you're going to say is "waaahh but why can't they be like valve and be nice and not be evil!!1 rip westwood and pandemic."

For Bethesda, Skyrim might be (from what I know) a simplified Elder Scrolls made so that people who play little to none games, can get into it more easier. Mind you, Skyrim was still fun to play and roleplay in, despite the simplifying. On a side note if you asked me, a casual game should just have easy to learn controls and mechanics so he/she won't be alienated by, say tons of menus with a bajillion different items, and controls that you just can't get. The real magic of games comes from it's personality (I.e. Good characters, well written story, well designed, interesting lore, good music.) as well as the main aspect that makes video games the best medium there is for anyone. The journey to the end as apposed to just rushing towards the end.
i reccomend taking a shot every time you read "valve" in a THQ thread

Take good care of Company of Heroes and Dawn of War please :(
Please let Warhammer be okay.
I actually hope ubisoft picks up a few, i doubt valve would pick up any of these metro on the source engine? No thank you
How Ea has convinced some of you that its not all that bad is beyond me. Ea has repeatedly crashed and burned, bought, drained and split talented developers. Killed countless franchises, and still have the licenses in strangleholds despite never doing anything with them. Perpetuated the very worst cliche's and solidified gaming as "something for nerds". Responsible for alot of what makes the official face of gaming a disgousting advertisement spree with porcelain faced celebrity cunts peddling subject matter they have no understanding of, to an audience they presume are infantile. So fuck Ea, and fuck you for sticking up for them like a dumbass.
Would you rather them be like THQ?
Yeah. If you cant convince your customers to support you, not out of fear, persuation, bribery or trickery, youre running a shitty, short-term business. and i promise you that Ea is going to crash and burn some day in the future.

I wonder how much Homeworld would cost to buy.
I hope Saints Row goes to a decent home Silly and colorful are on EA's 'no fun allowed' list of rules
Rockstar pickin up SAINTS ROW
You cant really blame people for being worried about companys like EA getting hold of an IP they like. EA want money first and foremost, on its own thats not such a terrible thing , as thats what a bussiness is. but knowing EA they would happily change and modify the way the game plays or the way the game feels to appeal to a wider audience, with the intention of making more money- nobody is saying EA is the herald of eternal darkness and murder, they are simply saying dont trust them not to mess around and rush games like Metro and warhammer.
Gabe will descend from his mighty throne and buy all the titles, and then they will create sequels for every single one of them and use them as launch titles for the new Steam console. Hallelujah.
Is no one else concerned about the South Park game?
lol no
I wonder who's going to get the Warhammer 40K rights, if anyone?
Warhammer 40k series is licensed to THQ by Games Workshop. The license is probably non-transferable. Games Workshop simply has to find a new company to license it to.
It'd be awful if EA got Company of Heroes. I can imagine them destroying it like they did Command and Conquer.
destroyed? I played C&C 3 and tiberian twilight, latter wasn't as good, but it had some good parts. And I played the original games, like generals, etc. It seems that there is alot of nostalgia people have./

If EA gets Metro its almost quaranteed that they'll force multiplayer to appeal to "wider audience" along with DLC's.
Hopefully someone awesome gets Red Faction so they can bring it back. Because of how shitty Armageddon was (I blame SyFy), they canned the series. But then again the series wasn't really dead considering Saints Row is in the same universe. But still, I don't want the series to be killed off, even though THQ was going to do it.
metro to valve, please. Not activision, not ea, not ubisoft. It deserves a nice home where people cant rip it limb by limb and reanimate it with multiplayer and overpriced shitty DLC ;_;
and hats, would be great if valve buys saints row, imagine that with steam workshop stuff
