Isn't this the version that has like, a bajillion mods for it?
Sims 2 is better than 3 if you ask me. Slap it on a SSD so transitions don't bother you as much, and enjoy pretty much an infinite number of mods. Which is why Sims 2 is probably going to continue being better than Sims 4
ermm nice try but bob newbie is already dead in sims 2
I'm gonna get this because I'm too lazy to dig around in my attic finding my old case of Sims 2 discs :v: Can't wait to make my world famous table lamp and microwave emporium in OFB!
is this EA's attempt to appease the angry crowds of Sims 4 haters
You have to install and use Origin.
Origin is much better than Steam technically, but it lacks games and a community.
The catch is that you'll have to manually fix the game yourself. Since the game is so old it won't detect your modern hardware and you'll have to fix resolution and shadows and AA yourself.
your acting likes sims 2 came out in like 1994
Is there a way to disable certain mods? I'm not sure I want every expansion pack ever for the sims at once.
The catch is that you'll have to manually fix the game yourself. Since the game is so old it won't detect your modern hardware and you'll have to fix resolution and shadows and AA yourself.
And? Oh my god, I have to configure the settings myself, what a tragedy.
You have to install and use Origin.
People still hasn't gotten over Origin yet?
Origin is much better than Steam technically, but it lacks games and a community.
To be honest, a large part of the steam community is absolute shit anyway.
And? Oh my god, I have to configure the settings myself, what a tragedy.
I'm just saying most people who will be getting this won't know how to fix the resolution and shadows by going into the game config files.
To be honest, a large part of the steam community is absolute shit anyway.
especially the people who comment on workshop items
And? Oh my god, I have to configure the settings myself, what a tragedy.
It's as easy as editing a few files to make it detect your hardware and/or VRAM. I posted the two fixes you'll need, resolution and antialiasing, here in the megathread. You'll want to use it if your game doesn't go beyond 800x600 and has options greyed out.

I mean, trying to play 2 without the open world, create-a-style, traits system, or all of 3's fantastic build/buy mode additions is a bummer. But I do prefer things like 2's style, music, humor, load times, and expansions (at least the ones that weren't remade for 3, like Open For Business)
And? Oh my god, I have to configure the settings myself, what a tragedy.
he was just saying that he'd have to manually configure the settings, he wasn't trying to rag on EA christ you guys are quick to get defensive
I remember losing my copy of Sims 2 a long time ago. EA, thank you.
and my Origin library slowly grows larger
EA does things like this, Humble Bundles, free games, oddball deals, etc...and I still don't know what I think about EA. I just know my library is getting bigger.
It only took me 10 years and the price of The Sims 2 10 years ago when my mother picked it at random as a late birthday gift for me to get EVERYTHING. I was a bit put off as my ticket was there a week with no answer, but this is nice.
Fucking awesome, especially since a week ago the price was still about 20 euro per expansion... (Also, 40 euro per expansion for The Sims 3)
Good on them. I've not played 2 in ages, its going to be weird getting used to loading screens when moving between lots.
EA gave me 15% off my next purchase. Fucking wow.
Good on them. I've not played 2 in ages, its going to be weird getting used to loading screens when moving between lots.
It really isn't weird, trust me. Depending on your PC, lots will load lightning fast because the game's just that old. Obviously the confinement to one building itself is still there, but it loads dead fast after the first load and each neighbourhood's first load.

Really impressed by this move  Always wanted to get The Sims 2!
I still don't understand why Open For Business was never put into TS3. OFB was the best expansion pack. Fuck, it was the only reason I kept playing the game.

Hoping you're right.
Sims 2 was my favourite expansion and the only thing that's stopped me from playing it recently had been the effort of downloading all of it onto my new PC, along with some essential lost discs/codes. So.. awesome, getting this for free, still don't remotely plan on getting sims 4.
i never bought sims 2 except on the ps2 :v: thanks EA
I still own a Copy of The Sims 2 DVD Edition from 2004, so it's nice now that i can download it all i want.
especially the people who comment on workshop items
And especially people who comment on guides then add you since they can't figure out TESV is TESV.exe
