This is pretty interesting, if it doesn't succeed it'll be great for an emulator console anyway.
uh bro, 1080p on a tiny screen is a lot easier than 1080p on a large screen.
It's exactly the same.. it is also easier to actually make a larger screen because pixel density = more difficult to manufacture.
If all games are free, how will developer make any money? I thought this sounded like a great idea, until i got to that part. I'm not going to develop games if i can't put a price tag on it. Unless you want me to join the micro transaction devil.
Sounds similar to this console: Oh god.
you mean the PC port?
I don't foresee this going anywhere, just like the many other consoles that have tried this before.
God forbid a console use anything less than the latest greatest graphics hardware
God forbid me to want to get the best for my hard earned money.

Since this thread started it's gone from $450,000 to $850,000 This escalated fast
concept also known as the "pc"
how many pixels are present to be rendered on... on a large screen it's going to look more blurry and pixelated regardless.
you just stated that 1080p on a small screen has less pixels than 1080p on a large screen. congratulations, you don't know what 1080p stands for.
I have a feeling that this is going to hit its target by midnight.
Quad core TEGRA CPU... Also the GPU? 1GB RAM... Bit rate/clock speed? 8GB FLASH HDD... Expansion is possible i hope Android OS... Oh god
Uuuuh. Those buttons are going to be a pain with just different color circles. They should have put icons on them (like the playstation X, O, Square and Triangle, and xbox's A, B, X, and Y).
What kind of games would it be able to handle? BF3 for example, is apparently out of the question....?
a $100 box that plays freemium mobile games on your tv and it's kickstarter funded no thanks
Eww they're going with the xbox controller design. I don't care what console you prefer, but I grew up with a Playstation, and I've been used to the Playstation controller layout for my entire gaming life (I mean, mouse+keyboard masterrace, but if I'm gonna go with a controller it's Playstation layout all the way). I wish they let you customize it. Would be much better.

Bloody hell, they just broke 1 million.

Give it a week max and someone will have come up with a driver for a wireless PS3 controller.
Is this just about playing mobile and tablet games on my TV? No. Nope. Nyet. Nein. Can we say it more clearly? OUYA was not created merely to host ports of existing Android games. We’ve built this badboy to play the most creative content from today’s best known AAA game designers as well as adored indie gamemakers. That said, we believe many existing Android games will feel bigger and better on a TV with a real controller. And we’ve heard from developers like Brian Fargo and Adam Saltsman that the controller will be the most exciting reason to develop for OUYA. We hope they speak for all developers when they say OUYA will inspire new forms of gameplay.
cool! i cant wait to play shitty $0.99 android games on my tv now!
I don't know how it's supposed be pronounced, but I pronounce it OOH YAH "Hey guys this films boring, lets play on the OOHYAH"
I don't know how it's supposed be pronounced, but I pronounce it OOH YAH "Hey guys this films boring, lets play on the OOHYAH"
That's right
Just glad to know there is another console going to be on the market, not just xbox, ps3 and wii.
I'm interested in one of these. It's better for people who don't have a nice PC or an Xbox to play games. But it'd be better if it had its own OS and some form of media. OUYAtridge anyone? How about a USB port for external drives? They need to add shit like that and it may please everyone.
It has a USB port
Ah, fucking iPad.
This is going right next to my N-Gage.

The problem being that I highly doubt AAA devs would want to work with those hardware limits
