Does anyone else think that if Valve decides to enter the console market to some degree, that they would follow suite with OUYA considering that they have experimented with multiple aspects related to this console.
Broke down and bought one. I feel giddy!
uh, wow

Wow, were some big buisness investors browsing the internet piss drunk at 3:00 am?
Im going to buy it as soon as it comes out in Europe , i dont care 99$ isn't much, and there are ALOT of amazing android games out there, if you are able to root it you can possibly run other OS's on it, like with (most) android devices.
It's amazing if it will be like it shows, the UI of the games kind-of reminds me of the w8 metro theme.
PS : It basically is android TV but specialized for games + better specs etc.
I think this is actually kinda cool.
An android box could be useful. It's basically like a roku, but with more potential. Kinda annoying that they run their own app store, but being so open I bet it'll be a breeze to root. Also, this would be sweet for NES/SNES emulation.

It's also cool that they already have a prototype, and this is a reliable company that knows how to make inexpensive hardware.

If it is an android console you can install any android apps on it, so yeah also the NS Emulators, PS emulators and so on ^^
There are very few games I see myself wanting to play that it can run properly. I'm expecting thousands of indie platformers mixed in with odd watered down versions of more popular games. I don't know, homebrew might be cool or something.
I wonder what the Open Pandora would be like with kickstarter.
ok pledging soon
It's at 2,750,000. Wow
If this gets enough preorders do you think it'll sell in stores like best buy and gamestop, or just online?
Holy hell this has taken off. I wonder how much they'll have raised by the 9th...
With this much money they might be able to do some amazing stuff with this console. Maybe improve the hardware a bit or finance some really nice release games.
That being said, I was worried about not being able to get the $99 one for the console by Thursday. And I was right. Because now there are almost 19,000 pledges for that. Out of the original 10,000
He had to raise that limit by 70,000. Hilarious.

What I don't get though is what's the difference between the $95+ and $99+? It's the same stuff.
I'm guessing it was just a $4 discount or something.

I hope the devs keep that on the down low or ignore it. Last thing they need is some well known youtube imbecile to gloat about emulating games from older consoles during their OUYA review.
They should contact Valve imo. This + Greenlight could have a lot of potential.

If I understood it right, if you buy the 95$ tier you are guaranteed to get one from the first batch. The others will get it a bit later, but before it hits the stores.
Needs more tf2

Oh. I don't know if I'd want that. Sure it's cheaper and you get it before anyone else but at the same time the first batch is ALWAYS the buggiest.

This probably COULD run TF2.

Oh wow someone rescinded their backing of Ouya. The $95 backings just went back in stock. 1 left.
According to this, the Tegra 3 SoC has a performance of around 7.2 GFLOPS when running at 300Mhz, while the Xbox 360 is around 240 GFLOPS.
Basically, don't get this if you're expecting Xbox/PS3 level of game quality, since even they have issues running at 1080p. Get it because you like what it offers (The idea of a game console that can emulate the SNES, NES, MegaDrive, etc. is super appealing to me) or like the idea behind it.
It's not really the same thing though, tegra3 works massively different than your average console hardware
1. It's designed to be very power efficent (pointless in a console but still)
2. It's designed to be easy to develop for
3. It's designed to be efficent at rendering specific things over others. I.E. it can effortlessly do 1080p output and 2D rendering without a hitch, 3D rendering is pretty efficent too. However it might suck at doing lots of logic caluclations, nessicary for complex scenes or strong AI/scripting.
Also a lot of you forget that this console will basically the be the ultimate emulator. Android/Tegra3 is famous for its emulation capabilities, and this being a Tegra3/Android console that is dirt cheap AND has a controller will see widespread adoption among people who wish to emulate.
And you guys also need to keep in mind the sucess of the Roku box, a "useless" device that is also around $99 in price, which lets you watch Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, Amazon Video, Pandora, etc without needing a PC or tablet/phone hooked up to your TV. It is doing very well, and a lot of people (including me) love to use it over other methods, since its always just there ready to use for your TV. And its a lot cheaper and unintrusive than a console set up.
1. It's designed to be very power efficent (pointless in a console but still)
Consoles have more problems with power consumption (= heat) than you think. PS3 and 360 both had a large portion of their cost devoted to cooling and struggled with it. That problem only gets worse as we shrink to smaller lithographic nodes.
Passed the $3 million mark
