• Meat And Masculinity: Men May Avoid Vegetarian Options Over Manly Perception Of Meat

I eat meat because vegetables taste like hippy, and I'm allergic to hippy.
I'm a vegetarian but I'm fitter than half of you motherfuckers out there. Besides, all that muscle turns to fat when you get old and lazy.
How do you know that? I eat meat and vegetables both in good proportions. I work out and exercise. I'm super fit. How can you say that we are less fit than you simply because you choose not to consume meat? I hadn't realized that eating meat automatically makes me unhealthy.
I'm a vegetarian but I'm fitter than half of you motherfuckers out there. Besides, all that muscle turns to fat when you get old and lazy.
I've seen some fat-ass vegetarians and some ridiculously in-shape meat eaters. I have nothing against people who choose to be vegetarian for a good reason, but the pompous attitude you have can take a flying fuck right off a cliff.

I like to go for free-range meat.
See if you can detect the subtle masculine undertones:
I approve, good to see other races of burgers represented as well
I am sure that it would occur as a social creation, but that it would naturally occur slipped my mind, you make an excellent point. I do believe though that women don't have any severely reduced desire for meat.
No I wouldn't say it is much reduced, but then this may be re-inforced then in culture by playing on the need to be skinny and delicate to be attractive. (Not saying it is actually necessary, just by learned stereotype). So women tend to eat more veggies and fruit in an attempt to stay healthier and thinner. And cause scarffing down a steak is seen as very non delicate. Not that that ever stopped me. Steak is delicious.
tbh I can see how men would eat more meat than women naturally because it gives them more protein to help muscle growth - appealing to that really isn't sexism
It's true, sadly. How many thin, slender men to you see making it to the cover of a magazine? How many thick, muscular women do you see?
i can't eat food without knowing that something died for me to have it
vs I can do it too!
You lose because that meat still looks tasty :v:
It's true, sadly. How many thin, slender men to you see making it to the cover of a magazine? How many thick, muscular women do you see?
That I don't see as terribly bad (excluding when photoshop is horribly misused) as it is a reinforcement of natural differences in strength as well as natural heterosexual preferences.
These are the only kind of vegetarians I hate, you guys are too fucking stupid to realize the fact that animals kill each other in the wild for meat by the thousands each year, the same shit happens in the ocean with fish, if it wasn't for humans domesticated animals like cows and chickens would be hunted down by predators in the wild instead of being safe, fed food, and given medication to prevent diseases. And yes, I know that quite a few places treat farm animals like shit, but a few people not eating meat isn't going to magically change that, if you're really that hurt by it only buy meat from free range farms.
Cats torture mice, therefore we should torture animals. Hell, beat your dog because dogs fight and kill each other all the fucking time, you're doing it a favor by simulating it's natural habitat. Some animals practice cannibalism on their young so maybe people who kill infants shouldn't be prosecuted. Hurting living creatures is not better because we feed them. We are humans, we move past the animal world and create civilization. Eating meat out of necessity(because you're poor) is one thing, eating meat just because you love the taste of it is just unneeded cruelty towards another living thing.
Not eating meat won't bring back the animal that has already died to make that meat. That's just weird logic, if that's how some people see it. Also I agree, meat is fucking rad. Some vegetables are okay too, I guess.
I eat meat because meat tastes good.
I prefer both at once. Seriously, I can rarely eat bare meat. At the very least, I require bread. And my vision of perfect meal is balanced piece of nice meat with big side of vegetable, or a salad after the main meal. I generally prefer raw vegetable over cooked vegetable, with exceptions of things like potatos, tho. Well, I prefer raw meat, too, but that's not doable with all meat. Oh god pork is so fantastic meat.
Is this news to anyone? I'm not usually one to proclaim commercials as sexist, but the most sexist commercial I have widely seen on TV is Campbell's Chunky Soup. Tons of men eating the soup because it has all the "meat guys love". I'm sorry, do women not like meat? That's news to me.
It's marketed to tradies as something quick and easy for lunch advertising to the female tradies would be the same as advertising to men who wear dresses. there are not many of either [editline]20th May 2012[/editline] vs doing it right
I'm not masculine in any sense, but I still love my meat. But I don't focus on it over other stuff. I do have this weird habit of drinking about a whole gallon of whole milk every day.

I've also upped my consumption seeing as dining halls on campus all have unlimited service, and I can get milk there.
The argument for animals' suffering due to farming is bullshit. Even if you only grow crops, you still remove all of the wild land that animals once lived in (one of the largest causes of extinction is loss of habitat; your fields of wheat were once areas where wild animals lived). However, I don't eat red meat because of how inefficient and wasteful the entire industry is. It takes over a dozen times more water and other resources to produce things like beef and pork than it does most vegetables, and while white meats are still more costly than veggies, the waste is not nearly as bad. Maybe this isn't as important an issue in countries where water is less scarce and land is more suited to grazing, but in my country (Australia) half the country is constantly in drought and our land is extremely poorly suited to farming animals on it (it damages the land extensively, even more so than it does in other parts of the world). Besides, white meat is far better for you than red meat, especially when you take into account the copious amounts that people tend to eat in modern society. If you want to get more educated about this issue instead of just spouting, "Vegetarians are lethargic sissies, bacon-eater master race!" or "You meat eaters are all fat fucks, I'm fitter than all of you and I don't even eat meat." then you should look through some scientific journals for information on agriculture and its water footprint.
Eating meat out of necessity(because you're poor) is one thing.
I just won the lottery it's time to go get me a salad and start a vegan lifestyle yeehaw I'm rich now you can all go fuck yourselves I'm gonna get me some broccoli.
Humans have consumed meat our entire existence, and will continue to do so, you can cry all you want about that cruelty bullshit but it doesn't change the fact that those animals will inevitably die, at least with farm animals they live a safe life and serve a purpose after death that doesn't involve feeding insects and/or being ripped apart by carnivores.
So let's consume humans, then. We will all inevitably die, why not cannibalize each other? Everything will inevitably die so who gives a shit what happens to them in life?
Plus farm animals are killed in a MUCH MORE humane matter than if they were killed in the wild, it's almost always instant.
That doesn't make up for the fact they live a shitty life in a glorified coffin.
Animals are fucking tasty. I hate vegans who think taking away my cheap meat is good. A man without meat can become violent.
Vegetarians do have lower levels of testosterone. Just saiyan.
So let's consume humans, then. We will all inevitably die, why not cannibalize each other? Everything will inevitably die so who gives a shit what happens to them in life? To answer your first question, probably because we've been eating animals for a loong time, most of us haven't been eating humans. Just some rare tribes and shit. A coffin it is when you're grown for food. If we could, we'd replace animals with a lump of growing meat but science isn't that far yet. For now all we can do is enjoy some steak or bacon. [editline]20th May 2012[/editline]
Vegetarians do have lower levels of testosterone. Just saiyan.
Lower level of testes
That doesn't make up for the fact they live a shitty life in a glorified coffin.
ea free-range, or better yet get over it.
I can eat everything. But steak without veggies just doesn't feel complete. Also, I like man meat. As in penis.
I can eat everything. But steak without veggies just doesn't feel complete. Also, I like man meat. As in penis.
Cooked penis, yum
Humans =/= lesser animals. To answer your first question, probably because we've been eating animals for a loong time, most of us haven't been eating humans. Just some rare tribes and shit.
Why the fuck are we not equal to lesser animals? Because we follow morality versus instincts, because we build civilization and unshackle ourselves from our primal needs. If you don't need to eat meat, but do, then you are no better than the average animal.
A coffin it is when you're grown for food. If we could, we'd replace animals with a lump of growing meat but science isn't that far yet. For now all we can do is enjoy some steak or bacon.
Or we could, you know, stop enjoying the suffering of other living creatures. I mean, everyone gets in an uproar when a cat is doused in gasoline and set on fire, yet you aren't concerned when an animal is put in prolonged suffering just because "it tastes good"?
If we could, we'd replace animals with a lump of growing meat but science isn't that far yet. For now all we can do is enjoy some steak or bacon.
I call bullshit on that, even if it was better people would still stick to real animal meat because they think it tastes better.
