11 years to put this guy down? I thought you could buy guns like Chicken McNuggets down in Texas.
You get one free with every bottle of whiskey you buy.
Do you realize how much more money keeping a prisoner alive requires? An absurd amount.
I thought there was some figures out ages ago that suggested that keeping them alive actually saves cash in the long run.
no it's because of appeals processes. if you want executions to be cheaper then you'll have to learn to sleep at night knowing that even more innocent people are being executed as a result.
I dont believe the U.S even produces the drugs used in executions, it has to be imported. The drugs used I believe cost a thousand or so a pop. Not that much compared to legal cost but you have to add in all the medical stuff and equipment.
How in the name of fuck is it possible for a (relatively) simple execution to cost THAT fucking much?
You need to have an insanely thorough investigation, so much so that if it were removed the amount of innocent people dying would skyrocket. It's uneconomical, and trying to make it cost less results in utterly destroying the bloodthirsty purpose behind it in the first place. Now, I'm not a state governor, but I'm fairly certain that's an unecessary expenditure right there.
Do you realize how much more money keeping a prisoner alive requires? An absurd amount.
Executing also costs a whole lot. And states benefit from prisoners in various ways you know.
I'm fine with my tax money going to keeping people in jail, just aswell as I'm fine with my tax money going to put out fires even though somebody did something stupid to light up his house.
How in the name of fuck is it possible for a (relatively) simple execution to cost THAT fucking much?
When your life is on the line you will use every cent you have to go all the way to the top court, and get the best lawyer you can afford. To counter that the state will hire the best lawyers and they cost a fair amount. Then they pay someone in the 7 figure range to push the "kill" button. They lawyers themselves would easily cost more than putting a prisoner in jail for 30 years
Good.
Guys go to Mass Debate if you wanna talk about the death penalty. This guy deserved the maximum sentence possible and he got it.
Do you realize how much more money keeping a prisoner alive requires? An absurd amount.
'i value money over human life'
Why we even give scum like this the satisfaction of a quick death is beyond me. Capital punishment is a waste of money and effort. Let them spend life in prison.
That costs more you spastic.
This guy deserved the maximum sentence possible and he got it.
but that's subjective though but what is objective is that money is being wasted on little more than unecessary retribution, and that money could most definitely go towards saving lives and stopping crime in infinitely more effective ways than what's being done now supporting summary execution is indirectly supporting the environment to make it seem necessary, and on top of that the logic behind it is all muddled to begin with, so much so that when I try and follow it I just get led in hypocritical circles so it's A) a waste of money, (money which would be invaluable in stopping crime in the first place), B) amoral and hypocritical, and C) ineffective in deterrence.
That costs more you spastic.
It's a more humane option than outright killing them.
11 years to put this guy down? I thought you could buy guns like Chicken McNuggets down in Texas.
Yes, but it's only good to wrap your mouth around one of them
The chemicals are only a few hundred dollars, but court costs alone add up in the millions. EDIT: The chemicals are basically, potassium chloride to depolarize the muscle cells in the heart to cause it to stop beating, heavy duty sedatives given in a high enough dose to cause respiratory failure, and a heavy painkiller if i remember.
No, they use a drug that will knock them unconscious in seconds, then followed by a chemical that will stop the lungs from breathing, and finally potassium chloride to stop the heart.
Do you realize how much more money keeping a prisoner alive requires? An absurd amount.
LOL. Dude, capital punishment is way more expensive. Taxpayers spent $200 million from 1995-2004 without a single execution. Now your gonna say that life is prison is more costly. If Indiana (just one example) commuted all inmates on death row to life in prison w/o parole, the state would save $37.1 million. Just did a research paper on this btw.
