i like how everyone's pissing over islam about this, even though they fail to realize that religion in general is the issue, not whichever particular branch the islams are stupid for burning him and he's stupid for being a twat and risking his wife and family over such a trivial, insignificant matter
Aye, It never ceases to amaze me how Christians and Muslims actually worship the same god and still find things to war about.
Just different prophets.
Yep. Muslims believe in Jesus as a prophet as well as Muhammad, some people seem to forget that.
It constantly amazes me why god is taken seriously yet the flying spaghetti monster isn't I have been touched by his noodley appendage and he has shown me the secret to life and I have been blessed with his almighty bolognese sauce!

I dislike it when people associate the word 'infidel' with Muslims. It's a Christian term that the Muslims may of used. The Muslims said 'Kafir' which means "unbeliever".
Wasn't that from The God Delusion?
No, it was started by a letter to the Kansas School Board regarding intelligent design. The author proposed another hypothesis, the aforementioned noodly god.
I don't usually want to generalize, but fuck man, I hate this religion. When has it actually contributed something good?
When it kept alive many sciences from ancient greece etc while europe was busy burning each other for being witches
Infidel is the English translation for Kafir. Kafir is Arabic.
Kafir is only sometimes translated as Infidel, it really means unbeliever.
alfredo sauce is superior... infidel
Implying green pesto with garlic and tomato isn't the best. It's fine, you're just an uneducated lesser being, the FSM will forgive you, for he loves all. :smug:
But didn't Dawkins reference this but instead using a magical flying unicorn or something, I can't recall it properly.
You might be thinking of Russell's Teapot.
Main Entry: in·fi·del Pronunciation: \ˈin-fə-dəl, -fə-ˌdel\ Function: noun Etymology: Middle English infidele, from Middle French, from Late Latin infidelis unbelieving, from Latin, unfaithful, from in- + fidelis faithful — more at fidelity Date: 15th century 1 : one who is not a Christian or who opposes Christianity 2 a : an unbeliever with respect to a particular religion b : one who acknowledges no religious belief 3 : a disbeliever in something specified or understood — infidel adjective From Merriam-Webster
But didn't Dawkins reference this but instead using a magical flying unicorn or something, I can't recall it properly.
No idea but it was all taken from the basic idea of Russels teapot. Love that shit, might get a tiny solar system tattooed somewhere on me like my calf, with russels teapot clearly marked.
Infidel is the English translation for Kafir. Kafir is Arabic.
Infidel is somewhat analogous to Kafir, but they're not the same. Infidel originated in the 15th century and refers to someone of a religion other than one's own. Not used in any of the Bible translations as far as I know. Kafir refers to one who does not believe in the Abrahamic God (so Jews and Christians don't fall under this definition) and is used often in the Qu'ran. The origin of the words themselves i.e. how they were formed are also different, but that's a rather boring topic. Infidel is derived from the Latin "infidelis" in=not fidelis=faithful, "kafir" means "concealer of the truth" or something along those lines.
It's not worth it. If you're in a country where your fucking life is endangered. Just convert then leave as soon as possible. Religion isn't worth dying over.
Uh, no way a person truly believing in Christianity would convert to Islam save their lives, they would rather die. That would be a slap in the face to God, and they wouldn't do that. I feel sad that his wife got raped and the kids had to watch, no one has to endure what they had too.

I'm sure if I was a Christian, and I really had to save my family, I would convert. Islam only adds onto Christianity, I mean, come on.

Hey Mr. Christian... Where's your god now?
Hey Mr. Christian... Where's your god now?
Let's not be rude.
Islam has something called "Taqqiya" where you're allowed to deny your faith/convert under the threat of death etc.
Hey Mr. Christian... Where's your god now?
Way to spit upon the dead.
Islam has something called "Taqqiya" where you're allowed to deny your faith/convert under the threat of death etc.
I'm sure not many Muslims will take that seriously nowadays. Martyrs are not very common now (Shahid).
Did I say a religious doctrine holds back scientific progress? No. I said religion does, and what does religion give birth to? Yes, religious groups. Religious groups holding back stem cell research/scientific progress.
religious groups also gave birth to food pantries. Is that evil?
Religious groups have done a lot of good.
