No, just saying your point about it being an unreasonable amount over a long period was wrong. Yeah it's not something people can easily amount and have to lean on.
It is an absolutely unreasonable amount of money for people to just have around. Even over a long period of time, people supporting families, paying taxes etc.
Didn't NHS effectively collapse in Scotland recently?
Quick searches indicates it's going strong.
It is an absolutely unreasonable amount of money for people to just have around.
Maybe $150k in solvent assets, but gained through loans and other methods combined with savings, not really.
Ah yes, being bound to debt till death do ye part (or bankruptcy interrupts destroying your future hope for finances).
Maybe $150k in solvent assets, but gained through loans and other methods combined with savings, not really.
Yeah just take out a loan. That's not 150k from savings is it. Utterly ridiculous.
Ah yes, being bound to debt till death do ye part (or bankruptcy interrupts destroying your future hope for finances).
Since when does taking a loan out equal sure debt? Many people have managed to pay loans back, it's not a definite thing.
Yeah just take out a loan. That's not 150k from savings is it. Utterly ridiculous.
I'm arguing more about the fact that $150k is an unreasonable amount for a person to have period, not through savings, at least i'm not arguing that anymore. That's what your argument seemed to shift to.
Yeah doy! I just keep 148,000$ in my mattress on the off chance something goes wrong with me.
Be a selfish entitled cunt will you! Someone has to fucking die, most cases while they are still young, in order for some prick like you to be able to live the rest of your life more comfortably, when you didn't even require the organ in order to keep living, and you have the audacity to complain about it costing money :colbert:
AHCCCS (pronounced like "access") was the only health insurance Shepherd could get because he had a pre-existing condition
:britain:
Didn't NHS effectively collapse in Scotland recently?
honestly how the fuck do people come up with this shit
Quick searches indicates it's going strong.
Well some healthcare system in Scotland was having some troubles last month I know that
Since when does taking a loan out equal sure debt? Many people have managed to pay loans back, it's not a definite thing.
Taking out a loan is the definition of debt. Please realize two things: 1. Paying off $150,000 of debt will either be hideously expensive per-year ($5,000/yr to pay off in 30 years, roughly. That much per year is huge to low income earners) or take a very, very, very long time. 2. You pay a lot in interest on the loan, so the total amount you pay will handily exceed $150,000. I can imagine it exceeding $200,000.

Entitled cunt? I live in a country where I'm entitled to healthcare. So everyone in the UK is a cunt because they're entitled to healthcare? Or are you calling me a cunt because I believe it's absolutely absurd that people in the US are forced to come up with such an enormous sum where elsewhere it is free?

Yes of course that's unreasonable, but a smaller one to bolster long term savings for a large expense isn't. e: I myself am confused at where the line between my fake arguing and real is at.
The fuck, where did I imply taking out a $150k loan? Yes of course that's unreasonable, but a smaller one to bolster long term savings for a large expense isn't.
You fail economics forever. That's that bad. Current savings account interest (annual): 0.3% Current loan interest (annual): 5-35% You can't take out a loan to earn money unless you have something to actually invest it in, and even then it's undesirable (businesses that can do this make an effort to pay off loans within a few years, individuals don't have this sort of option).
No the fact you seem to to think $150k is a absurd price to pay for an organ that required someone else to die in order for you to get it
It's $150,000 more than he has to pay in his country, of course it's absurd to him. And I think it's absurd too, and I live here.
No the fact you seem to to think $150k is a absurd price to pay for an organ that required someone else to die in order for you to get it
You mean voluntarily decided to donate upon their death? It is an absurd amount, you try getting that money. Nice attempt to portray me as being heartless though, 3/5. Sorry I'm sort of used to living in a country where we don't assign a value in dollars to someone's wellbeing or life.

I'm not sure if the entire amount is required at one time, but I'd imagine not. Let's assume so anyways. e: Like, I support socialized medicine, and this is an exorbitantly large charge, but i'm not seeing it being impossible to accrue, seeing as how many families have had to pay for such things before. Not every family that goes through such a procedure is rich.
No the fact you seem to to think $150k is a absurd price to pay for an organ that required someone else to die in order for you to get it
It's not like they kill people to get their organs. The dead don't use their organs, might as well give them away.
It's not like they kill people to get their organs. The dead don't use their organs, might as well give them away.
Just think, if bush hadn't put that retarded cap on stem sell research we could've been growing new organs for people in a lab by now.

Surely socializing it won't work since that would require raising taxes which a majority of the American public opposes due to the fact it requires them to pay more money into a corrupt government they hate that produces third world quality services that are plagued by fraud that nobody seemed to care about when they are already struggling to pay their current Taxes with living cost increasing, the US dollar going to shit, and the fucking Federal Government being too motherfucking corrupt to tax the only people with disposable income in this fucking economic recession

As I said before, we founded the NHS after World War 2 when our country was a fucking wreck. If we can do it, you can too. It's not the cost, it's wanting it. And if your government is as corrupt as you make it sound, perhaps you ought to move here.
Just think, if bush hadn't put that retarded cap on stem sell research we could've been growing new organs for people in a lab by now.
It's better to throw the stem cells away than use them to save lives, because Jebus doesn't like science.
they arent poor either. have you seen what health insurance costs?
Shit I forgot entirely about private health insurance. That would subsidize a large amount of the cost, likely, further lightening the load. That of course costs money itself, but we're talking about middle range income here, not just plain poor. To make this more clear, this has shifted (to me) from this is unreasonable for poor people (yes) to this is unreasonable for most people (ehh)
have you seen what any insurance company will do to get out of paying though? do you know how much of the time they are successful?
True, it's a pretty corrupt system. I heard numbers about their take in vs pay out a while back and it's just astonishing. Kagrenak could post more about it whenever he wakes up, I got the data from him.
and middle range income? 200$ a month for basic coverage. that is a shit ton of money for a lot of Americans to pay monthly. [editline]21st November 2010[/editline]
True, it's a pretty corrupt system. I heard numbers about their take in vs pay out a while back and it's just astonishing. I read this thread thinking the Republicans somehow managed to force poor people to give up their organs when they died.
I read this thread thinking the Republicans somehow managed to force poor people to give up their organs when they died.
No one should be forced too, but organ donation should be encouraged way more than it currently is. Not like you're coming back to life, so you have no need for em. Someone else does. Simple choice.
