I am not discrediting the news story but NPR is notoriously liberal and biased.
Compared to what?
I am not discrediting the news story but NPR is notoriously liberal and biased.
To be fair the title is "Arizona Budget Cuts Put Organ Transplants At Risk" at NPR, and it's not exactly anything "biased" to say that these cuts are affecting the AHCCCS (Arizona's handling of Medicaid), can have affects on the organ transplants in the state.
exactly, this is also a PERFECT example of how state run insurance does not work.
Huh? It doesn't work when the system is structured to favor private alternatives, and the public alternatives are often the ones that go to the cutting board first. The problem to begin with is these people don't have enough money, and that's why they are on the program. If they didn't have access to this, what else would they pick? They couldn't afford the other options.
exactly, this is also a PERFECT example of how state run insurance does not work.
State run healthcare works. Countries in the top 10 of best medical care either have full state welfare or mixed between state and private. When the USA can barely get into the top 15 healthcare systems in the world, something is wrong. People quickly forget that there are 40 million American Citizens without the ability to pay for healthcare because of a low income. Most Americans could never get a job that means they could pay for an organ. Now Arizona is saying these people can't have organs because of 'budget cuts'. Whoever is in charge needs to rethink their budget plans. [editline]21st November 2010[/editline]
I am not discrediting the news story but NPR is notoriously liberal and biased.
If it said 'Sick Republicans force people to die in front of death panel', I'd agree with you. But it doesn't.

I am all for socialized healthcare, but it needs to be done the way canada does it, broken into each state.
The US is also MUCH MUCH larger then those countries. southern california alone is larger then all of canada. I am all for socialized healthcare, but it needs to be done the way canada does it, broken into each state.
I'm pretty sure southern California is smaller than the entire nation of Canada.
Two months is plenty time to get the money you need for it. If someone else has the money, why shouldn't they get priority? Just because you got a shitty situation in life doesn't mean you should get a boost up. e: I'm arguing the other side for the hell of it, I don't believe most that follows. Please stop quoting me and disagreeing :colbert:
2 months is no were near enough time for me to get enough money. you know we are talking about poor people here?
I'm pretty sure southern California is smaller than the entire nation of Canada.
California's population is actually massively larger than Canada's.
The US is also MUCH MUCH larger then those countries. southern california alone is larger then all of canada.
Population is irrelevant when talking about the Human Development Index as I assume MrEndangered was, and healthcare spending is measured per capita so again, population is irrelevant. Keep in mind that the US spends more per capita on healthcare than countries like Canada does, yet they cover less of the public's cost. It's quite obvious that your system is broken.
California's population is actually massively larger than Canada's.
Oh, I thought he was talking about land mass, my bad.

Xen Tricks, a person who needs a heart transplant and makes even 40,000 a year wouldn't have enough in two months. Also, I love how the only republican backing FPers come in here with bogus bullshit and pointless posts like "OH LIBERAL BIAS SITE, STATE HEALTH CARE DOESN'T WORK BLAHURR"
The United States spends more on healthcare than any other country in the world yet they still have a terrible health care system compared to most developed countries
That's due in large part to how our health system is ran.
That's due in large part to how our health system is ran.
That's his point.
"Help me republican man!" "REPUBLICAN MAN TO THE RESC... oh, you're poor." "Why are you taking my wallet? Wait, where are you going? You're not going to leave me here? Republican maaaaaaaaaan?"
You know, I've heard people call Republicans evil before, I'd never understood why - until now.
you also have a much much stronger/larger economy but I guess we're ignoring that
my point was that even Canada's system is by territory because it is the easiest way to micro manage the system. American healthcare reform should do the same thing, reform the system but instead of just making it a federal system, have a federal system overlook a robust state system. That formula is proven to work in other countries and I honestly think it is the only way you get not only get the republicans on board, but also be able to truly cover the needs of the people in general.
Are the republicans actually retarded? These are people lives they're taking away and for what? A little bit extra money? America needs to rid themselves of these idiots.
Are the republicans actually retarded? These are people lives they're taking away and for what? A little bit extra money? America needs to rid themselves of these idiots.
according to the article the people who where postponed are not at risk of death
They rationed certain procedures above others - cut the high risk and expensive treatments to save money. Rationing healthcare to save money
Still, Going broke and stopping coverage the most expensive procedures =/= rationing, you can still acquire the transplant organs on your own, it's just that the state can no longer afford to pay the high price for them, Rationing is when the supply it self starts to run out and the state steps in to keep people from hording services Meanwhile the whole HURR OBAMACARE = RATIONING comes from the fact that with everyone being required by law to have health insurance that covers transplants, the already limited transplant organ supply will start to dry up due to more people be able to qualify for them
way to go Republicans. Hey, didn't they threaten that the Democrats were going to do this with their "socialist" health care?.
Right. Instead of not getting it at all, they would have him wait in line, and he would die before he got in for treatment anyway. Yep, that's an improvement.
Whatever news website you read, it's time to stop. The 'Extreme porn act' limits porn such as filming somebody being physically hurt without consent or being actually raped. Making actors do things that are physically dangerous (Such as trying to fuck somebody with a rusty nail encrusted plank of wood) and such things as bestiality.
Okay...
Our porn laws are very similar to the USA. While we don't have the very liberal approach as Sweden does, neither does the USA.
Actually the U.S. still has very liberal porn laws, well outside of Utah atleast
There are currently 200,000 weapons currently licensed and in use throughout the UK. Firearms are purchasable in licensed shops owing to circumstance. The general public do not wish for firearms to be purchasable by the public, and neither does the government. Therefore most of us are perfectly happy how things are, so much for being 'repressed'.
I didn't say shit about being repressed, I said I want to be able to at least own the semi-automatic version of the same rifles used by the Military that are paid for by my Taxes like I do here and not be limited to a long ass double barreled shotgun
The UK military is very well funded and very well trained, to the point where we provide military training to allied nations such as Israel, Germany, etc. While the UK does not have a giant army, having anything larger than we do now is a complete waste considering we share resources with other NATO countries. We've invested in a smaller, high tech military with some of the best equipment in the world to rival the US. Any dick waggling between the UK and USA is purely stupid for either side to start.
What happen to the British Military constantly being raped when there's a budget crunch?
That's a USA problem, not a UK problem. What's your point?
I want to be able to own the same guns as those who work for the Government
It depends on who you talk to. I really don't see much of a differences between Brits and anyone else in the world. We have racists, and we have anti-racism laws. Nobody gets a prison sentence for saying nigger if you're talking to your friends in the street.
Thanks for clearing that up [editline]21st November 2010[/editline]
It's the fact that Arizona has a republican governor and conservative legislator and to fix budget woes they're cutting services like these
Dude nearly every US state has had their budget crash, and the states just can't not pay for the services, look at California, what about going "Socialist Democrats Win, Take Healthcare Away from the poors! Yet they want to export that system nationwide!" [editline]21st November 2010[/editline]
Arizona. The scarce avaliability of organs is not what's at question, it's the fact they've decided that he won't ever have a chance of getting one because of budget cuts. Budget cuts should never affect the length of time people can live if you have the chance of living a full and active life.
Well they already gave him a pacemaker so he won't fall over and die and treated him for 18 months so it isn't like they left him to die [editline]21st November 2010[/editline]
For those that are placing the Scandinavian countries in such high esteem, one of the most hugest factors as to why they are prospering so is that they have only white people there, their poor minorities hardly clash with other classes. They also get very pissed at immigration.
What the fuck are you saying, they have plenty of africans and arabs in Scandinavia, how ever they have Taxes that are massive compared to other countries in Europe and a higher GDP median house hold income than most other countries [editline]21st November 2010[/editline]
:colbert:
Hold the fuck up, 2 months to get 150k?
Is not being able to own military-grade weaponry really that terrible?
It is when you have to fight military-grade weaponry
It is when you have to fight military-grade weaponry
Dude face it, a Revolution/Civil War/Balkanization/Societal Collapse/Invasion will never happen, though it's still nice to have the gun in the off-chance it might happen
It is when you have to fight military-grade weaponry
Oh yes, I'm sure you need them for your rag-tag gang of rednecks to overthrow the government and their Abrams, Predator drones, and F-22 Raptors.
I wonder if the right to bear arms would allow me to by nukes?
