Poor state of education in combination with widespread religious belief is the reason those figures look like they do, rather than half of the population being mentally challenged I'd say.
Better education can trump widespread religious belief every time, it isn't an unfixable problem.
And do you think it's fair judging the population of an entire country based on the actions of a few (hundered) individuals? I hardly think these hardcore reps represent the overall opinions of the GOP. Perhaps someone with greater insight could shed some light on what's going on politically in the US right now.
According to the article, ALL the Republicans in the House voted against it. I don't think that's a minority, considering they have a majority in the House, and I certainly wouldn't call them "hardcore reps".

She's a Republican. :smith:

It's only a matter of time until America becomes a third world country which stones infidels and we're all sitting in jail for having intelligence.
My mom said to me that global warming is wrong because God wouldn't put us on a planet that's going to kill us. She's a Republican. :smith:
I forgot (alot of) Republicans don't believe in the dinosaurs either. "They didn't exist, their bones are there to trick us and test our faith!"
Why do we even need an amendment declaring that What a stupid misuse of the legislature [editline]15th March 2011[/editline]
39% of Americans believe in evolution. 58% of Americans believe in climate change. Split those and you can logically conclude that only 48.5% of Americans are half smart
Not true! As much as 97% is half-smart by that.
And that's my point, they're not retarded, they just haven't gotten proper information.
I never said they were retarded, I said they were not smart. Being smart has little to do with intelligence, you can make anyone fairly smart. It's the difference between ignorance and stupidity, basically. [editline]15th March 2011[/editline]
Not true! As much as 97% is half-smart by that.
There's no way of knowing whether the numbers are mutually inclusive or exclusive so I just averaged them, but it's likely that someone who believes in one probably believes in the other making your high estimate really high

And intelligence and being smart are in fact relative and are part of each other. You can't have one without the other. Wisdom is what you're thinking of.
I agree that it is unreasonable to taint the entire country as "retarded" because of what Republicans do. But, these are people you vote into power via the democratic process to represent your views. By extension, what they say IS representative of what a portion of the Country thinks. As Republicans are currently in majority (blocking this amendment), that means they represent the viewpoint of the majority of the Country. Therefore, there is actually still logic to their viewpoint. Stop voting these people into positions of power. Find Republicans that actually know some science.
what do monkeys have to do with the weather? And intelligence and being smart are in fact relative and are part of each other. You can't have one without the other. Wisdom is what you're thinking of.
Being smart is being educated, ie not being ignorant. You can be smart but ignorant, and that's the problem with the majority of Americans. Ignorance. And in some cases, willful ignorance. And evolution and climate change are both widely accepted science, it only makes sense that someone who believes in one due to not being ignorant will believe in the other as well.
Find Republicans that actually know some science.
You know that's going to be just a tiny bit of a situation. inb4 dumb ratings by "moderates".

A fellow smart person :buddy:
Republicans are retarded, not the US as a whole. But that's just my observation.
How did those republicans gain congress seats? Yeah, americans voted for them.
How did those republicans gain congress seats? Yeah, americans voted for them.
Why did American's vote for them? Well because they were stupid enough to be brainwashed by their whole "Oh we promise we'll be better than Bush ;)" shit. Plus when I went to vote, all I saw were old people sooooooooo...
The government has no business voting on the truth or falsehood of scientific discoveries anyways. Legislating laws regarding climate change is one thing but it is horribly inappropriate for scientific truth to be decided on through politics.
Republicans vote in opposition to that of the Democrats, regardless of what it is. So I rest my case in saying Republicans are purposely trying to ruin my country.

Woman behind him trying so hard to keep a straight face. His idea was great, execution a bit bland, but still very awesome.
Republicans vote in opposition to that of the Democrats, regardless of what it is. So I rest my case in saying Republicans are purposely trying to ruin my country.
Maybe democrats should try reverse psychology.
Maybe democrats should try reverse psychology.
The Republicans are already using reverse psychology on the American people whether they realize it or not. The Democrats don't have to do shit to look good.
This is definitive proof that every House Republican is a moron.
I'm just glad Republicans got voted into office in 2010, 'cause by 2012 everyone will be sick of their shit and Obama will win again no problem, along with Congress [img_thumb]http://i54.tinypic.com/25ipsfb.png[/img_thumb] (he's not perfect but can you imagine one of these insane fuckers running our country).
Fuck Obama, what the fuck has he done other than triple our debt.
I, too, want the United states to become 50 individual countries.
I like how, when we tried that right after the revolutionary war, it failed so horribly that we created the system we have now.
