Biden: "If you want to protect yourself, get a double-barrel shotgun"
Yeah but a .22 is significantly less lethal at range to the point where you could run away and take minor injuries compared to being gunned down by a high velocity bullet.
Also you realise a lot more people than that die and it's the fact 1 mental dude could only take out 5 people but that's 5 unnecessary deaths that could've been prevented if measures had been put in place. I know the guys who feel the need to collect guns are just gonna see this and rate dumb like they always do but it'd be nice if they saw it from the otherside of the fence. i'm not anti gun or anything but it just seems way too easy to get ridiculous guns over there.
Every time a drunk driver causes an accident that causes, 2,3,5 unneccesary deaths
There are a lot more car accidents than alchohol
Ban alchohol and lower speed limits
"I said, 'Jill, if there's ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here ... walk out and put that double-barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house," Biden said."
Multiple problems there, Biden. For starters, you can't shoot someone who's out on your yard because the law indicates that they have to be inside your kingdom to protect it, which is your house, not your yard. If you shot someone standing in your yard who wasn't an immediate threat that would be murder. Secondly, if she's just walking out onto her porch and blasting her shotgun to ward off any intruders that is also against the law, you are directly endangering your neighbors (reckless endangerment) and shooting at someone who is an unknown threat is attempted murder.
Also, the AR-15 isn't hard to aim. One of the reasons the M16A4 is used by the military is because it has such a good sight picture. It's easy to get your irons on sight and accurately on your target, not to mention someone could use a simple and cheap optics system like a reflex scope. this picture obviously made for an M16 VS AK47 discussion, still explains why the M16 has good sights.
He also puts every weapon under the same category. "You don't need 30 rounds for home defense."
Well, not every weapon is the same caliber. A .22 doesn't pack as much of a punch as a 9mm, and a 5.56 doesn't pack as much punch as a 7.62.
If the guy you're dealing with is a tweaked out dude on angel dust he's probably not going to give a shit if you punch 10 rounds of 5.56 into him.
Infact, when Marines where fighting skinnies in Somalia they were getting pissed off because they were putting half their magazine into a guy before he finally gave up and fell over dead.
tl;dr stupid uneducated statements made by a politician, who would have figured
The joys of living in a country where not every man and his dog has a gun.
You've never fired a shotgun have you
Double barrelled shotgun isn't what you wan't for self defence. You want a pump action or semi automatic. By chance you miss the first two or they survive.
But this is in a hypothetical home invasion situation, obviously its unlikely but if somebody specifically buys a shotgun for home defence they should get a pump action or semi automatic shotgun.
It's not his place to tell me what I do or don't need for self defense, same as it's not my place to tell him what he does and doesn't need to protect his own well-being. I don't want to come off as some conspiracy theorist or paranoid nutjob/internet toughguy here, but I am the only person I trust with my life.
I want to be able to own a live mortar to protect myself and my property, and a large amount of phosphorous.
You can indeed own a mortar (assuming you pay the $200 tax stamp, and have the funds for it), but not the phosphorous rounds.
And you can't buy modern day military rounds, if I remember correctly. That includes under mounted grenade launchers for rifles and etc. You can only buy 37mm projectiles (for the underbarrel grenade launcher, don't know what you can get with mortars) and I don't believe you can legally buy -explosives-. You can only buy flares and the like.
So really it'd be a collector's thing/for looks.
That's ridiculous. How am I supposed to protect myself with anything less?

But the nailgun shoots assault-loving, child-hating, racist Nine inch Nails, not shotgun shells

fire slugs, or make your own shotgun shells that have massive fuckoff nails in them.

going back to being serious, it really pisses me the fuck off Biden would state such bullshit statements that would make other impressionable Americans think it's okay to just go into their backyard and start blasting off rounds. He's trying to get ~assault weapons~ banned because of the shootings, but he's adding to the problem by making people uneducated about firearms, firearm safety AND firearm laws. You should never start just blasting off rounds to scare someone off, not only is that extremely dangerous to your neighbors but it's highly illegal also.
i am not saying you're lying but how does the fact that the gun is loaded affect anyone, you cant see shit if its loaded or not if its a double barrel
i bet you wouldnt stay around even if the gun was unloaded
Pointing a weapon at someone who isn't an immediate threat is also assault. If some dude is standing on your yard you can't whip out your .45 (or dubble barrel shotgun) and level it at his head to intimidate him away.
If you miss a dude in a fucking hallway with a fucking double-barreled shotgun, then you should just give up because you can't fucking aim worth shit
I mean seriously people :v: Not only is it a confined area, it's got massive spread.
but what if i miss
Hard to miss with a shotgun, the large spread guarantees anything larger than a raccoon turns to jelly while forgoing the need to even aim. :v: especially at close range, as would be typical in a home invasion scenario.
The AR-15 doesn't even demonstrate proficiency in target shooting, I'm a bit puzzled why they are so widely used.

You're acting like every shotgun fires a massive ion cannon laser out of its barrel(s). It doesn't. Depending on what round you're using, you're either sacrificing your chances to hit or to do damage that matters. Birdshot would have a high chance of hitting someone, but actually causing damage is next to nil. A slug would seriously wreck some shit, but you have a higher chance to miss since it's a singular projectile. You're also likely to be experiencing high adrenaline in a life-or-death situation, making your accuracy worse than it would be normally. I'd prefer more than two shots, thanks

typical double barrel shotgun has a 28 inch skeet barrel and probably at least a full choke. spread is tight as you can find

In a hallway.
Maybe if the robber was a dwarf ninja or you had no arms you might miss them.

Unless you're using a sawed off shotgun its going to be relatively easy to miss. Imagine if they also have a gun and intend harm? I would definitely not wan't to reload in a home invasion scenario. I'd much rather simply use a pump action if you're going to use a shotgun for home defence.

counter strike source lied to you, a shotgun's pellets doesn't have a 40 foot spread straight out of the barrel

I'm pretty sure he meant to use the weapon as a means of intimidation (which any sort of gun would be more effective as than a means of neutralizing the attacker) to scare away the intruder. Also, it is highly unlikely that you'll be dealing with a "tweaked out dude on angel dust"
In a hallway.

You side with any anti-gun argument you can find then speak non-sense even if it degrades your credibility in the debate.
It has nothing to do with needing it you geriatric fuck
counter strike source lied to you, a shotgun's pellets doesn't have a 40 foot spread straight out of the barrel
Well no, it's just that if you can't shoot a rather large human shaped target inside your hallway with a shotgun you probably can't aim for shit.
I'm pretty sure he meant to use the weapon as a means of intimidation (which any sort of gun would be more effective as than a means of neutralizing the attacker) to scare away the intruder. Well, as I said his version of "scaring the intruder" is HIGHLY ILLEGAL. If you want to intimidate someone, get a pump shotgun and rack it. If the intruder really wants to tango after he's heard that, he's got a death wish.
Well no, it's just that if you can't shoot a rather large human shaped target inside your hallway with a shotgun you probably can't aim for shit.
There have been firefights over the distance of the hood of a car and no one hit anything. The reason why, is because of adrenaline. You're shaking, and you're scared. It's going to fuck with your aim in a life or death situation.
Well no, it's just that if you can't shoot a rather large human shaped target inside your hallway with a shotgun you probably can't aim for shit.
Suppose they also have a gun and you thus need to use lethal force. By your logic both people would immediately run into the middle of the hallway and kill eachother at the same time.
Well no, it's just that if you can't shoot a rather large human shaped target inside your hallway with a shotgun you probably can't aim for shit.
didn't you already say once before that you've never held a gun
Suppose they also have a gun and you thus need to use lethal force. By your logic both people would immediately run into the middle of the hallway and kill eachother at the same time.
So you are somehow saying that people who have guns for self defense are incompetent?
So what are guns needed for anyways if people can't even use them properly?
