Biden: "If you want to protect yourself, get a double-barrel shotgun"

You forgot it needs a secondary sight, how about a x12 scope.
What about terminal velocity? Coming back down it wouldn't be anywhere near lethal :v:
It would be only a little more "lethal" than a pebble of the same weight falling from the sky
That's assume it's shot directly upward.
Most of the time this isn't the case, and they are shot at a slight angle. This means that it travels in an parabolic arc, which allows it to keep much more of its velocity, so its speed can still be well within the lethal range.
i don't get it so they wanna ban assault weapons cause they're so dangerous but apparently the assault weapons are pointless anyway because a double barreled shotgun is easier to use & more deadly but they support using this?? huh

Yep, pretty much. Any gun that's good at killing people is a great gun for home defence
Shotgun seems a bit overkill. I think that the best way to protect yourself would be pepper spray.
In all honesty, people don't really need weapons for self defense. If somebody breaks into your house, everyone around should gather together in a circle and sing Kumbaya until you've made peace with each other.

You can sing around a campfire if you must, but you can't have a large or menacing one.

You also have to make sure the wood in the fire was gathered from an environmentally sustainable source

You heartless bastards, supporting tree murder. Think of the saplings.
The NTA (national tree association) has the blood of infants on its hands.
you don't NEED a campfire to stay warm - just get an electric heater instead! just make sure your electricity provider generates electricity from environmentally safe methods, like hydroelectricity.

Wouldn't it be the National Fire Association?

Stop trying to confuse me with your logical thought processes.
It's not his place to tell me what I do or don't need for self defense, same as it's not my place to tell him what he does and doesn't need to protect his own well-being. It's not like you're going to miss 29 shots only to hit the last one.

That's not an argument
That's not an argument
Well say if you shoot twice at somebody, and somehow miss both times, I'd be inclined to say you're fucked if the other guy has a gun and can hit a human sized target at a distance of several metres.

So this is your justification for death because some idiot says what you should or should not use for home defence?
Ever thought that criminals might be armed, too? Most pistols would put you at a more heavily armed state than a guy with a double-barrel.
A shotgun will tear a guy in two. A pistol will put a hole in him. Hmm.

Is this a joke? It depends on what you fill your shells with.
So this is your justification for death because some idiot says what you should or should not use for home defence?
Well say you have a firearm with the ability to shoot 30 times instead of twice.
If you miss such a large target at such a close range the first 2 times, are you really going to land a hit any of the next 28 times without being shot in the process?
You'd have better luck hitting them with the gun itself.
A shotgun will tear a guy in two. A pistol will put a hole in him. Hmm.
you'd have to be crazy to load your home defense shotgun with frag shells + it's probably illegal

perhaps you will, perhaps you won't - that's not a good reason for actively restricting them though
edit
actually nevermind - yes. There is a good probability that you would be able to hit something in the next 28 times
Biden is stupid as fuck if he is going to recommend a double barrel shotgun for home defence. A. They're expensive. B. They're typically pretty long and hard to move, sawing it off is going to require $200 tax. C. Lack of ammo capacity makes gives the attacker a advantage if he is using anything but a double barre led shotgun. D. Why not just get a semi-automatic? Oh wait its banned by the stupid legislation he supports.

Okay suppose we're not playing fucking counter strike and you can shoot through walls and fire blind if you have a general idea where bad guy is. More ammunition typically equals more utility. Buck doesn't penetrate that well from personal experience.
[editline]19th February 2013[/editline]
Sobotnik you know jack shit about firearms you are certainly not in the position to be advocating what this man has said.
but what if i miss
You miss in a 1,5 meter to 2 meter wide hallway? Your aim sucks.

actually you can shoot through walls in counter strike & people often fire through walls where enemies "should be"
You miss in a 1,5 meter to 2 meter wide hallway? Your aim sucks.
"get a better aim" shouldn't be a reason to strip someone of 8 more / 28 more chances

your gun moves where you move in CS.

thats assuming you're not fighting the bad guy. what if he is shooting at you, that is called moving the fuck out of the way of his bullets and shooting through whatever you can, or positioning your gun and shooting blind outside of a doorway. Depends on intensity of the situation. Plus, if he has plates on its gonna be harder. But smart criminals are rare.
[editline]19th February 2013[/editline]
guns actually kill people unlike games, you aren't going to run into the middle of a hall, crouch and fire hoping you don't die.
your gun moves where you move in CS.
oh
i was talking about wall penetration, not blind firing
I don't think shooting at nothing will stop her from becoming a Jill sandwich
I prefer a silenced magnum and a stealthboy.

Sobotnik's advice when attacked by three intruders = invest in a triple barrel shotgun.
His advice if you miss = let them kill you.

Suppressive fire.
Suppressive fire.
grazing fire would be the term used in this case. suppressive fire is used to keep would-be attackers behind cover to give squadmates time to flank

Unfortunately, this isn't a videogame.
Unfortunately, this isn't a videogame.
Yeah, because bullets aren't scary in real life right? I can totally just shrug off 30 rounds being fired at my general direction
Plus, I bet you're getting all of your firearms knowledge from video games and movies. Clearly you can't see how unwieldy double barrel shotguns are.
