Sounds like it might have been one of those instances where a pre-existing condition is exacerbated by the sudden violence; or that the attacker inadvertently knocked her down and she hit her head or something. I'd bet that the attacker didn't intend to kill the girl

Reminds me of the episode from Billy and Mandy when Grim got locked up in jail with a guy who beat up someone for farting.

Well, on the up side that girl can go around school now and fart all she wants and no one will say shit about it...after she gets out of jail.

If she takes a plea bargain (pleads guilty), her charge will be reduced to either manslaughter or criminal negligence causing death. And since it's (probably) a first offence and she's a minor, the sentence will probably be less than two years in juvenile detention.
