You do realize that the lottery isn't a raffle right? [editline]7th January 2016[/editline] What about all of your friends and family?
I would hook up my immediate family and close friends for sure! Then I would mold into the shadows. Otherwise I'd be getting calls/mail from "long lost relatives" and people who never really cared and just want money.
Quietly. You can choose to remain anonymous when claiming the money, but afterwards it's kind of up to you.
I think only certain states allow you to choose to be anonymous when you win. I could be wrong though, I just recall reading this before.
If anybody won that jackpot they'd be pretty much set for life on the interest alone.
They wouldn't be "pretty much" set for life. You could easily live comfortably off of investment interest with 3-5 million. You could live like a rich eccentric with the jackpot money from this just off the interest.
It's at $700 million now. And "could" reach $1,000,000,000 Fuck. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/powerball-jackpot-grows-to-a-record-675-million-as-ticket-frenzy-builds/2016/01/07/e19bd830-b541-11e5-a842-0feb51d1d124_story.html
I feel sorry for whoever wins this thing. It's so easy for shit to go wrong with that kind of money, you're more likely to have a ruined life than a dream one.
I feel sorry for whoever wins this thing. It's so easy for shit to go wrong with that kind of money, you're more likely to have a ruined life than a dream one.
yeah man if anyone here wins it i'll take on the burden if you don't want it
Fuck you and fuck your lottery america ..not like i dream of this shit or anything.. *tearfully sings god save the queen with a mouthful of bangers and mash*
Quietly. Chances are nil, but you are at a statistical 0% unless you actually play.
If you were to win the lottery(ever), do not tell ANYONE. So many things could go wrong with that information out there. Claim it anonymously or through a lawyer. There have been past stories of people winning the lottery, one guy's brother even tried to kill him after he won. There will be a ton of people begging: friends, family, strangers. I personally don't play the lottery, but good luck to everyone on here who does! Also try to be smart with the money and don't just go throwing it around and potentially doing something illegal.
Wouldn't it be a total dick move to not tell your friends and family though? oh btw i been a billionare for the past 8 years
bought one for shits an giggles
Don't they put a cap on it like other countries have, so that if first division doesn't win it goes down to second division and so on.
If you wanted to live off interest about 2 million would be enough You'd get around 90 grand monthly.
Please tell me what kind of assets you're investing in that give you over 50% annual yield.

You cant hide from that. [editline]7th January 2016[/editline]
Please tell me what kind of assets you're investing in that give you over 50% annual yield.
a 2-5% yield would be cool with me tbh

The son sued his own mother over this and was actually killed during the case's discovery period. We don't know if the murder was related, but it was 4.5 million, so it's possible.
Wouldn't it be a total dick move to not tell your friends and family though? oh btw i been a billionare for the past 8 years
relationships have a tendency to buckle in the wake of lots of money
If anyone here wins, here is a convenient guide.
Congratulations! You just won millions of dollars in the lottery! That's great. Now you're fucked. No really. You are. You're fucked. I've seen this question (what to do if you win the lottery), a few times on ARFCOM. Amusingly, it recurs quite often. I posted a similar article to this one "back when" but I've updated it with some actual stories and slapped it in GD because, well, why not? Keep in mind: IAALBNY (I Am A Lawyer, But Not Yours). Consult professional advisers before spending your hard earned lottery cash.
https://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=749519

I did a high school paper on the curse of the lottery, and boy will this one be one hell of a curse....
Wouldn't it be a total dick move to not tell your friends and family though? oh btw i been a billionare for the past 8 years
Yes and no. People knowing that they are friends with/related to someone who has won that much money may feel like they deserve your money, or become beggers/try and cause problems to make you feel bad and pay to help them. If anything, say you got a well paying job or something to where ever you move, if you move.
Quietly. You can choose to remain anonymous when claiming the money, but afterwards it's kind of up to you.
It depends on the state. Some states require you not remain anonymous.
It depends on the state. Some states require you not remain anonymous.
If I win the lottery, I'm following that guide and moving to Alaska.

If I win the lottery, I can feel safe in the knowledge that my friends won't suddenly turn and come after my money, mostly because they're all pretty well-off themselves.
Imagine if a crackhead won all this money, haha.
Imagine if a crackhead won all this money, haha.
It would be this guy times ten http://m.nydailynews.com/news/national/unemployed-ex-con-turned-powerball-winner-dies-hospice-article-1.1536710
Winning sounds scary.
It does, but fuck I want a house in San Francisco. you'd never catch my ass anywhere near Indiana again.
I want a house in San Francisco
Why of all places in the world, there?
