You could get into Warhammer 40k, that money would dry up reaaal fast. :v:
I'd probably spend less money if I got addicted to coke.
if I won the lottery, I would go to college for another 4-8 years in business.
Then I would become an entrepeneur
What exactly could go wrong with having $400,000,000 all at once vs having $30,000,000 a year for 30 years?

With that much money you can hire personal security for the rest of your life as a pittance.
Alternatively, do what I'd do. Go off grid. If I ever won that much money I'd totally buy thousands of acres in the midwest and build a house in the middle of it on solar/wind power and a well. On a butte or something so there's no road access, only way there is private helicopter that I'd own.
Yeah then your helicopter needs repair and you're stuck
Yeah then your helicopter needs repair and you're stuck
Bro, seriously?
That much money and I can/will definitely do all of the following:
-Learn everything about the helicopter so I can fix anything about it (or keep a mechanic on staff who can)
-Keep a full set of replacement spare parts for the helicopter stocked at the house
-Have a 2nd backup helicopter just in case
-Secret garage in the mesa/butte with a secret door so I can park vehicles in it and take stairs/elevator to the top
Think with your Bruce Wayne Brain man cmon
I mean, my grandest plans for winning the lottery don't even touch $50m.
-10,000 acres of land in Montana for $10.75m
-Sikorsky Helicopter $7m - $15m
-T-72 tank from Mortar Investments $75,000ish
-House & Workshop on land in Montana $500,000
-New truck $100,000
Dunno how much it would cost for enough solar panels and wind turbines to be 100% energy independent for a house + wood/metal shop. Probably not as much as the house would cost. A few tractors and farm tools/vehicles so I can grow my own food. A shitload of guns and ammo for fun. I dunno, I can't imagine spending more than $50m
See the stupid thing about this is that it's not returning any money. Believe it or not even 50m will dry up. Especially owning something as high upkeep as a tank + helicopter
-snip-
And spending half of the money all at once isn't a smart idea. 25m is a lot of money, don't get me wrong. But I think you would still need to be conscious about your spending

I would use all my money to ensure tank driving becomes a recognised olympic sport

I will make anime real

50 million will not dry up on solely tank and helicopter upkeep. It just won't.

Go shit on someone elses' dreams.
You can sell excess electricity back into the grid so I could make money that way. I'd also make money selling fruit/veg/milk/beef/eggs/chicken from my farming/ranching.
And obviously the other $350,000,000 of that is going into some sort of interest bearing account so I can make more money

The jackpot is almost $500m. Who the hell said anything about $50m total?
Go away Kyle
Cartman was right, you're the worst :v:

Couldn't you just become the primary shareholder of Games Workshop with 486 million?
I wonder what sort of pull that would give you in the creative process.
50 million will not dry up on solely tank and helicopter upkeep. It just won't.
This, thank you.
T-72 has a fuel tank of 320 gallons. On that it has a range of 290 miles. Assuming $2.50/gallon for diesel fuel I can have a LOT of playtime in that thing for $800.
A Sikorsky S-76 has a fuel tank of 281 gallons, which will get it 473 miles at cruising speed. Let's round down to 400 miles to account for start up and take off/landings. The fuel that uses (Jet A) runs about $5.50/gal for commercial airlines. Let's round to $7/gal for private purchase. Little under $2000 gets me 400 miles. The property I'm looking at that's 10,000 acres is 40 miles to Billings, MT; 150 miles to Helena, and 170 miles to Butte. Assuming I used my batcave truck to go to Billings and only flew to Helena or Butte once a month I'm only looking at $3400/mo in gas for that, but I seriously doubt I'd need to go to Helena or Butte that often, Columbus (closest town at about 5 miles away) has everything I need except for a Home Depot/Lowes/Walmart. I can go to Billings for that.
How much would you be making on interest if you've got most of that money distributed throughout various banks with sensible investment programs?
That's what, in the tens of millions per year?

The highest return CD I can find is 2.45% per year, compounded, if you invest over $50,000. But everyone knows CD's are a terrible way to invest and you'd get special interest rates if you approached anyone with over a few million dollars.
BUT assuming you just dumped all $300m into a 2.45% CD for 5 years, at the end of the 5 years you'd have made a little over $38m. Roughly $7.6m/yr.
Bad bad way to invest but that's as much effort as I'm putting into answering that question for you.

Depends on interest rates of said banks, duh.

So does it really improve my odds if I buy two $10 dollar tickets instead of just one?
Are there any strategies to number picking or should I just play what the computer picks?

Buying two tickets technically doubles your chances of winning, such as they are.
You could pick the numbers yourself, or you could let the computer do it, or you could use divination to come up with a number, it's so random you can do whatever and have a good shot.

So picking them myself or letting the computer do it, either way is equal odds?
BTW, it's at $1.4 billion now.

Why would it not be? The numbers are random; any string of numbers has the same probability of winning.
I mean technically '1 1 1 1 1 1' is just as likely to win as any other 6 numbers but something in the human brain makes that very hard to believe.

Yeah, just remember that it's the probability to get all 6 numbers instead of getting any numbers.
It's just as likely for it to be 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06 as it is to be 05, 12, 20, 28, 48, 51. Doesn't matter if you have a good spread of numbers or not, it's random.
How much are tickets atm? I have 10$ sitting around, may as well give this a shot.
How much are tickets atm? I have 10$ sitting around, may as well give this a shot.
2 dollars per a ticket.
How much are tickets atm? I have 10$ sitting around, may as well give this a shot.
$10 gets you a ticket with 5 chances to win.
How much are tickets atm? I have 10$ sitting around, may as well give this a shot.
5 draws on one ticket or 5 tickets with draw. Your choice really.

1 1 1 1 1 1 actually has a 0 percent chance of winning because once a ball is selected it is out of play.
just keep in mind that 70% of winning tickets so far have been computer picks
just keep in mind that 70% of winning tickets so far have been computer picks
And 70% of people who win go bankrupt, so many odds to beat
1.3 to 1.4 billion in one day. If the draw was friday I bet it would double.
1) be sad because some middle age redneck in a ford F150 from Alabama won the lottery
2)
