I can see why people would buy this. I've love Battlefield games but I hate the weapon grinding.
BF2 was best, if you liked a weapon you could just unlock it first no fuss no muss G36E whoring all day. [editline]17th April 2012[/editline]
I dislike how the game actively disadvantages you at the start, jets and helis with no flares, tanks without smoke...
yeah this is bullshit in the more recent games, like BC2/BF3.
BF2 was best, if you liked a weapon you could just unlock it first no fuss no muss G36E whoring all day.
The problem with BF2 was that almost all the unlock weapons were straight up upgrades over the stock ones. It took far too long to actually get an unlock point. And if you didn't have access to the weapons, you were probably getting demolished by them (I still remember people sniping with one of the assault rifles at stupid ranges because it had no semblance of balance). Plus the broken shooting mechanics in the first place didn't help the ranking up problem.
I find this a very fair solution. All the hardcore Battlefield players have unlocked most guns already, so it's good if newer players get the chance to catch up without being constantly hammered by better equipment. I mean one of the reasons why I play BF3 rarely is because everyone has better stuff than me, so I just get destroyed. I won't buy it though, it IS a little overpriced.
Bearing in mind that it costs £60 for a pack of weapons and hats on TF2, and nowhere near 119 items, I don't really see the problem in this. I guess people are just going to bash it because it's paying for something you can earn normally (I would have said it was just EA hate, but I seem to remember a similar amount of shit being flipped when Mann Co came about).
so I just get destroyed. .
You're probably bad. I sometimes use default loadouts you get from the start and I can still win over most people with high level gear. Exception is not having flares, that shit's so annoying then.
This is like, two weeks late.
EA has already done cheat DLCs in the past. Most notably, The Godfather where the player can use real world money to get in-game money for the single-player campaign. There's also a purchasable gang member who has relatively high stats and is useful in combat scenarios. That content can only be unlocked through purchase, so it's kinda not a cheat per say, but it will help you play through the game easier. What bothers me are some cheats like the Gamebreaker pack from Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. Purchasers can have the option to toggle Frank's head size, hand size, unlimited items, and many more cheats that would otherwise be in the final product and relatively easy to use. The content within that DLC are meant to be just for fun or zaniness, which the game is known for. Having an option to purchase extra zaniness seems silly when it could have been easily implemented as a cheat code. Some are saying the content is in the disc too.
Knowing Capcom that's probably true. They've been repeatedly caught charging to unlock content already on the disc. I don't really buy their excuse of 'The only difference between regular DLC and DLC on disc is the delivery method' either. If it was ready to go when you went gold, why the fuck isn't it a standard part of the game?

You're not launching your game and having to download 40 different character outfits just to play with your friend who bought a bikini for Akuma.
