Because gay guys are good at music and generally more creative
Of course. Have you ever wondered why Freddie Mercury was good at music?
It's a catholic school, of course they're going to be homophobic. How is this news [editline]1st March 2012[/editline]
So you're telling me that within the US you can be fired from your workplace without a reason being given? For example you could walk into work one morning be told "go home, you are fired" and if they wanted that would be that?
Yes well at least where I work I probably could.
Apparently you can fire people for the reason of being gay. But in other countries for example Sweden or UK it doesn't matter if you work at a catholic school, you can't be fired for being gay.
That he is gay is NOT a good reason. A good reason is if he's done a lousy job after several complaints or if he has done something that could compromise his job.
Thanks tips, it's called sarcasm.
Not sure what the problem is here. The whole idea of a Catholic school is to educate while instilling Catholic beliefs. To hire a gay teacher would go against their objectives as Catholic educators. This is equivalent to having a culinary teacher at a business school. He is a liability to their objectives and so they got rid of him. Like any other organisation would do.
To hire a fruit teacher
he teaches music. not fruit.
he teaches music. not fruit.
well played
Not in the US, sadly. Worst part about it is companies would bitch and lobby their way out of any attempts to put in place some regulations designed to prevent shit like this.
There are laws put in place to prevent people from getting fired for "no good reason." However, churches are exempt from this. And, when this was challenged, this was the result: http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/forum/story/2012-01-11/hosanna-tabor-church-state-case/52500140/1 . I'm not understanding why you're all freaking out about this, saying its appalling. Yeah, it sucks, but he did decide to teach at a catholic facility where they say being gay is a sin, and should have known this could have happened.

It was honestly pretty dumb on the guy's part to have a gay marriage when he works for a church.
Not really. In most states, there's some kind of clause where if you are fired within the first 90 days of employment, you don't need a reason and aren't eligible for unemployment. On the other hand, after those 90 days, most states require (AFAIK) that anyone laid off must be given a reason and then be eligable for unemployment benefits.
Not my state. As long as you can't prove that they fired you based on your race or religion, they can fire you for whatever reason they want. They do still need to provide unemployment, though.

The people subject to it's teeth have the lobby power to kill it before it gets anywhere, and if not that, render it absolutely harmless. ON top of that Fox is going to call it liberal socialist commie bullshit, which will turn hundreds of thousands of idiots out against it as well, idiots that would 100% benefit from it being installed. We need it, but we'll never have it.
I'm glad I stopped being full Catholic. Our church is getting more and more antigay, or atleast more willing to admit they are. Such a shame.
The guy worked at a religious school that forbids it. Whoop-de-do he should have expected it.
