Would be nice if the news could not turn every little (lawful) incident into a "police brutality" news headline, there is already enough shit going on with the whole BLM thing.
But who am I kidding, those news make money and get clicks so they keep coming.
Often enough they are basically the same as the drama people on YouTube: They take information, add a little bit of lies here and there, put it into wrong perspective and leave out some vital evidence so it all suits their intent which is to rile people up against each other because this will create a chain-reaction for more headlines and nobody suspect the middleman in this fight for justice.
And since this is exactly what the world needs right now, they get paid for it and can go to sleep with a clean conscience.
I'm glad somebody else noticed this. I also wouldn't be surprised if she actually had some mental issues, the weird escalation from the police trying to talk to her and her yelling "Don't fucking touch me" and yelling about OCD, to the screaming, seemed a bit weird, like a meltdown you'd see a spectrum kid having.
She claimed several different mental illnesses/conditions.
To me at least, that's just spitballing excuses, hoping that something sticks. She lost her mind after each excuse in turn, almost like she was flabbergasted that they didn't work and she didn't get her way. Maybe I'm misreading it, and she actually does have some disorder, but it just feels like entitlement to me, especially given the flip between not wanting her parents to know, and threatening to have her father kill someone.
Unfortunately, it's really hard to tell the difference between the two.
I don't know what video you were watching but they most definitely used physical force in addition to pepper spraying her. I mean this is a 15 year old girl were talking about here, aren't the police trained to use force in accordance with the situation they're faced with?
If this was a buff ass dude who was threatening them physically then sure but a 15 year old delinquent, come on.
They used the amount of force necessary to gain compliance. It took two of them to gain control of her. Dont underestimate a 15 year old's strength. They're not babies.
So, I get that she was loud and obnoxious and somewhat violent. But the fact that violence is the answer for American cops is so terrifying as a Brit, the whole point of cops is to prevent crime, including violence. So them perpetrating violence is never good, especially against a minor that they could've detained without attacking her with pepper spray. All over a panicked girl who thought she was in trouble for being hit by a car (and she had some weed). You think it's surprising she was scared of the officers in the current climate?
I can see this from both points of view, but fuck me America, your culture in general is so fucking violent.
Watch the video
If you only read headlines or skip through a video before making judgments, you're going to look like a dumbass.

Police should be tough, if someone isn't complying they shouldn't have to reason with them for 20 minutes to try get them back to the station or whatever.
Imagine if she had asthma or worse, an allergic reaction to the pepper spray; things could've turned sour real quick.
Still made some absolutely stupid decisions though.

But she didn't so why the fuck even bring it up?

Good thing theres an ambulance 50 feet away. An allergic reaction could happen, but its not common. She also could have had zero response to the spray as well.
She also could have been killed when being struck/striking the vehicle.
I'm just glad we don't have yet another dead child on our hands by the police, these officers already show more intelligence than all the other deadbeat officers.
Seriously, don't pull the bullshit "what if" card.
Sorry; wasn't saying that the police were in the wrong (definitely isn't the case at all), just saying that there was a possibility regardless.
Seeing as there are bars on the back windows it probably would have been a good idea to roll the glass down after he sprayed her even if only to cover their butts.
If she complied they probably would have just let her go and not even been aware of the weed. Just some questions and then taking her details for further investigation if she was at no fault.
But nope, kicked up a fuss and ended up getting sprayed for acting like an absolute tool. Good job. Police aren't monsters, they're people.
