it appears that my future proofing has run out. it is time to start saving
One of the good things about this is it might pressure monitor manufacturers to drop 4k monitors in price.
One of the good things about this is it might pressure monitor manufacturers to drop 4k monitors in price.
I don't think I'd ever buy an Apple device but I'd buy a 4k monitor for sure.
Anandtech wrote that it's likely because AMD is one of the developers of the DP standard, and that the DP was simply overclocked for higher throughput. Not that I know much about this. Edit: Oh, I should have read this page before posting.
Yes I know, I work for Anandtech. I actually hadn't realized Ryan Smith had published that.
Depends on what you're doing, if the card isn't a problem then you shouldn't upgrade before it is. SSD and flash is the same, I'm pretty sure. There are different types of flash storage, SSDs are really just the term that is used when talking about flash storage in computers.

Just to clear something up, SSD = flash storage. The only difference here is that where most SSDs are connected with SATA, Apple's moved to using PCI-e. It's considerably faster than SATA SSD.
I thought they were the same but had someone tell me Flash was considerably quicker so wanted to check.
Good thing about Apple is how much they pay for distributing their products so they can be viewed in a store. Here in Denmark we don't even have Apple stores, but instead we have "official reseller" stores or something like that, and they are basically Apple stores with another name.
You say that but I went to view the new iMac in my local store (UK) and they hadn't received theirs yet saying it could be a couple weeks. I could order one online today and get it in 3-4 days so it's odd how the store cannot have one on display.
Customer orders first, simple as that.
Yes but the screen is a huge selling point of this particular product. I don't want to drop £2.5K without seeing it.
I messed the names up and thought the title meant they're releasing a 27 inch laptop.
I messed the names up and thought the title meant they're releasing a 27 inch laptop.
Wait a couple years and there's gonna be a 27 inch iPhone for sure
