Canada concerned about returning ISIS fighters, Justin Trudeau says

If you just stop taking them back or give them harsh life sentences, they will stop coming back and they instead surely stay as ISIS fighters, and kill more people there. If you take them back, they atleast have a good chance of being rehabilitated without causing further harm.
I dont know which option is better, i just think both should be serioiusly considered.
Oh look it's a right-leaning American criticizing liberal Canadian politics like it's his country, really makes you

We are allowed to criticize these decisions, when it's a matter of letting a bunch of Daesh scumbags run amok in another country, and then they come home crying about how the big-bad Iraqi government wants to put them on trial for their crimes against the Iraqi people.
In all honesty, the Iraq government will make their decisions on how to deal with them. They have done so several times already, and usually they tend to be lenient on those which were forcefully conscripted. But the foreigners who came from their safe homes and went around killing and raping innocent people because of their beliefs and looks? Fuck them.
Let the devil sort them out.

I get being skeptical of claims of tracking and re-integrating people who fought for ISIS but I really don't think the answer is to send Canadian citizens to Iraq to face justice. Morally or practically.

I'm canadian and this post is ridiculous. As a Canadian I have been shitting on the US for the past few years and I think it only fair that they get to take a squat atop us as well.

Ha-ha silly me. I guess I'm worried about friends and people I know up North because their government wants to coddle actual terrorist and militants who left their homes to go fight in a Jihadist's paradise. Ha-ha, silly Americans.
Some replies in this thread seriously pain my heart. Do you guys honestly believe providing tax-payer funded rehabilitation for ISIS terrorists is just? These people deserve redemption?
These fuckers massacred and persecuted my people. Or are westerners just going to add the Arabic letter 'noon' to their facebook and twitter handles in 'solidarity' with the Assyrians and forget about it 3 years later.
Throughout the past 150 years, the West has brought nothing but misery to the Assyrians. My great-grandfather died fighting for the British in WWII under the promise that the Assyrians would receive their own country. 70 years later they are still stateless and are still being slaughtered and the West still wishes to let their murderers off scot-free.
I swear the left has gone batshit insane. I used to consider myself a lefty but there is no way I can associate myself with this political madness. Shame on those who wish to pervert the course of justice for those slaughtered by suggesting that battle-hardened war criminals should receive anything less than an empty prison cell. Extradite those fuckers to Iraq, Syria and Lebanon and let the people who have suffered exact their own justice if you guys don't have the guts to.

To be fair his frustration probably has some reasonable backing, at least most european/canadian shitting on the US is somewhat based in facts. Whereas here in America it's common as fuck for people to straight up make up shit about Canada and Europe when talking about them.

Let me explain something to you. While righteous anger is well and good, we aren't going to suspend rule of law for any group of criminals or terrorists just because we're especially offended by them. That way lies a breakdown of democracy and rule of law altogether. All Trudeau did in this case was state the way Canadian law approaches crime of any type. If you don't like it, campaign to get the law changed.
What, would he have made you feel better if he said that we'd tear them limb from limb? Because the way our justice system works has been in place since long before even the Harper administration, and it isn't going to change now just because we're dealing with a lower species of human trash than ever before.
If you want blood, get it yourself if you must, but be ready to face the legal consequences.
You may not understand how the law works here, so allow me to lay it out: violent criminals who are ideologically motivated get prison sentences up to and including the 25-to-life sentence reserved for those who commit first degree murder. What this means is that they're essentially sentenced to life behind bars, but they may be paroled after 25 years if it is found that they've become reformed.
If they haven't, they go back.
If there's evidence these returning fighters have actually committed any war crimes, they can expect to be branded dangerous offenders and to be given the same sentence.
