no-one can take shit anymore
Why should no one get away with saying nigger? Honestly, unless it's used in a derogatory way it really shouldn't matter. Either way, he didn't even really say it.
The problem is that a lot of people think that using the word makes someone racist, where of course the truth is that someone isn't racist unless they actually believe that one race is superior. I don't mean to say its not a derogatory word that shouldn't be used. However if someone just drops the word nigger into a sentence that doesn't make them a racist, especially if they are reciting an old rhyme. By that logic, a white person singing along to a song where a black guy says nigger is also racist.
Why is everyone so sensitive all of a sudden?
Because racism is. . .bad?
If I remember correctly, doesn't Topgear make something like 30% of all the income for the BBC?
Because racism is. . .bad?
But it was a joke, not racism.
Yeah, they're not gonna fire him. They're not just gonna get rid of probably one of their most popular shows just like that.
This is the racist asshole who spends a number of months of the year in foreign lands soaking up other cultures and boasting about all the wonderful people he has met along the way. Good job caving on this one, BBC.
He also said the BBC had told him "very firmly" to apologise but added: "Apologising for using the n-word would be the same as apologising for starting the war in Syria. It's something I hadn't done."
lol what
Why are people offended by other people being racist on TV? If anything it's funny to watch. I mean it's not like it's serious reporting, it's just entertainment.
Top gear just wouldn't be the same without Clarkson, and if as far as I know it's one of the most popular BBC shows. So I doubt they'll kick him out for something so minute.
When there's a media scandal surrounding multiple racist allegations it's not exactly minute for them. [editline]3rd May 2014[/editline] Also, I get the feeling that people just defend him because they like him. If Donald Sterling was caught mumbling "nigger" I'd bet everyone here would be on the attack.

Empty threats

I get the feeling that you just want to portray people in this thread as biased and dumb as a crappy means to defend your own opinion.

The slope joke is borderline racist, but again, it was a joke, he wasn't being serious. The media also loves to defame literally anybody just to attract an audience using sensationalist titles.
Judging from this, Jimmy Carr, Ricky Gervais, Frankie Boyle and all the other English comedians are about to be fired...oh wait DOUBLE STANDARD.
Judging from this, Jimmy Carr, Ricky Gervais, Frankie Boyle and all the other English comedians are about to be fired...oh wait DOUBLE STANDARD.
i dont think any of them work for the bbc
i dont think any of them work for the bbc
Yeah, but people should be offended, shouldn't they ?

I get the feeling that you just want to portray people in this thread as biased and dumb as a crappy means to defend your own opinion.
I also like that with the hundreds of millions that watch this show around the world, it's only a few hundred British do-gooders in very small and humourless action groups. A few of those incidents where foreign ambassadors have intervened have been misreported. The Mexican incident had all 3 of them got to the Embassy in London and explain that's just what they do: act the cock and 'believe' stereotypes. That's how they've been allowed to refer to it in other episodes. Mexico basically gave them permission.
I don't think it's fair to go through unused out-takes to find ways to pin people. There are probably plenty of people who have sworn accidentally on shows for kids and they've just used another take.
Yeah, but people should be offended, shouldn't they ?
No, they shouldnt. Context is what offends. If people were offended when people just said these words, a lot more people would be in trouble. The only reason this has gone as far as it has is because the mirror and other tabloids have a raging hate for the bbc and its associates. Clarkson is an easy target to attack the bbc.
I'd stop watching Top Gear if they fired him.
I'd stop watching Top Gear if they fired him.
I'd stop watching BBC

Stop fucking focusing so much on what people say and pay more attention to what they mean. If they're trying to be offensive, you have the right to be offended, if they're making a joke and mean no offence, don't take that shit so personally.
It's like people somehow grew a spine over the past few decades then tore it off and blamed everyone else for it.
Am I rascist for stating that whites are superior at being referred to as whites? It is treating a certain race as being superior at something.
Am I rascist for stating that whites are superior at being referred to as whites? It is treating a certain race as being superior at something.
what?
Yeah they arent going to axe Topgear they arent insane, clarkson should just tell them to shove it. The show is only great because short stretch and slow make it so.
But it was a joke, not racism.
Not even a joke, it seems like it was a genuine slip up.
Fucking mouth breathing daily mail readers. I can't believe this has gone so far
Fucking mouth breathing daily mail readers. I can't believe this has gone so far
I think you'll find daily mail readers are on the whole likely to be fans of Clarkson, even if the paper itself isn't
