Clarkson given final warning from BBC - one more offensive remark anywhere, any time, and he's gone
I don't really care if the guy stays or not, and I agree with you that he didn't actually mean to shoot them. But the guy has a habit of saying stupid remarks on and off the air, and then expecting his successful TV show to save him.
Maybe you don't care, but a lot of people do. And what ever happened to freedom of speech? You're literally asking this guy to stick to prewritten lines

Every time someone brings this up. Ugh. I don't know.
Freedom of speech does not entitle you to say hateful comments and not expect backlash. And pre-written lines? If he seriously needs a script not to say something racist (Nigger, slope, I distinctly remember something about Mexicans?), ablelist (comparing certain cars to disabilities) or just simply saying people should die for having a strike then I don't know what to say.
There is only one conclusion we can draw from all of this.
Clarkson is the most destructive human being in the world.

You really think he means it when he says people should die for having a strike? He's exaggerating, and that's the way he speaks, a long with a lot of older people, and no doubt sometimes he forgets he's on camera

That's not what I said. What I said was that he has a habit of running his mouth and not expecting any consequences. I get that he's a comedian, and that obviously he didn't mean to literally go out and shoot them, but it was just an example of how he doesn't actually seem to know, or even care of what pops out of his mouth.
The strike thing was pretty minor, a misunderstanding at best, but he does have a past of saying racist or just plain derogatory remarks. It's becoming a joke on how fast he can publicly apologise.
Paula Dean all over again.
BBC fires Clarkson, ITV hires Clarkson, ITV creates motor show, BBC loses, ITV wins. Again.

More like BBC fires Clarkson, Channel 5 hires him, adds him to the crew of Fifth Gear, Top Gear's popularity drops, the other presenters leave and join Channel 5. Fifth Gear becomes what it always wanted to be.
I don't think the BBC would do it unless it got really bad. Top Gear is like 90% of what's aired on BBC America - at least 4 hours every day, sometimes up to 9 hours.
This forum is full of conservatives who think they are liberal but really aren't. If they were truly liberal they would be outraged by this and demand action be taken instead of reacting passive-aggressively.
No, because white people haven't been discriminated against. African-Americans are still suffering the effects from 300 years of oppression, and it still goes on and on due to bigots like Clarkson and members of this forum.
Ey up. Looks like Sanius and Thisispain joined together to form SJWZord.
This is the same country that serves negerbollar and people are offended by gingerbread costumes?
You're a racist if you call it negerbollar. It's served as chocolate balls but DAMN YOU IF YOU SAY NEGERBOLLAR
Ey up. Looks like Sanius and Thisispain joined together to form SJWZord.
sanius and thisispain aren't retarded

Freedom of speech is a political right, freedom from criticism is not. Individuals have the freedom to criticize Clarkson for the things he says and you in turn have the freedom to criticize his haters. At not point in any of these exchanges is anyone's human right to free expression compromised.
I really, really wish we could go two threads in this section without someone arbitrarily bringing up free speech any time someone they like is criticized for the things they say.
It's not just that. Freedom of speech only protects you from the government, not companies who have full right to fire you, despite how stupid the reasons usually are
No other personality would get away with saying nigger, so why should he?
Oh wow you just said the n word what a racist asshole

Are you a fucking idiot? Of course his freedom of speech is being comprimised, he's being threatened that he will be off the BBC. There is no freedom there
And he signed a contract with the BBC saying that he wouldn't fuck up their image and reputation. So he's in violation. So he'll get fired.
He's not fucked up their image or their reputation, he didn't even fucking say NIGGER, did you actually watch the video?
And he signed a contract with the BBC saying that he wouldn't fuck up their image and reputation. So he's in violation. So he'll get fired.
Freedom of Speech is a political thing. It's something that prevents the government from arresting you when you say "wow I really don't like X". Freedom of Speech doesn't give you the right to get on the air, and say "fuck blacks, hispanics, and asians, because I don't care" and not have any repercussions.
You must not be able to read very well, as we've explained the same concept over and over again.
But he wasn't on air. He didn't go on TV and shout "NIGGERS!" He mumbled something vague in an out take.
This entire thing is blown out of proportion.
That's great, too bad it DID make it out. You can't ignore things that get out into the public. That's like a school finding out you've been sneaking into the girls locker room because someone found your phone and watched the video. Sure you didn't get caught, but it's out in the open now, and now the school has to do something about it.
Or like what happened to the NBA team owner a few days ago. Sure his racist remarks weren't ment to get out at all, but once they did the organization had to take action or risk their reputation by inaction.
The BBC will hurt their reputation MORE by shutting down their most popular show for a stupid reason.
That's a different incident, this is about him supposedly saying nigger
I just noticed that someone who mumbled nigger is more of a focus than someone convicted of a murder that happed 40 years ago. Yeah I know it's shitty tabloid media and he's a celebrity but come the fuck on. I've seen holocaust deniers get less shit than this guy. I'm a liberal faggot and I think they're blowing this way out of proportion.

Yes, because an outtake that was expressly removed due to an accidental fuck up of a line is equivalent to sexually based invasion of privacy.
Besides, did you even read the article? 300 complaints isn't something they can just say "oh yea, totally we'll get on it" and not do anything about.
Are you kidding? Do you think the BBC is some lemonade stand on the street?
The BBC has about 24. 5 million viewers.
He was going overboard with the racism so I agree with this to be honest.
Being Jeremy Clarkson shouldn't give you free reign to be a racist asshole.
You can't even tell that he said "nigger", it sounded like a gibberish, and even if he said it, it doesn't automatically make him a racist asshole. If anything, you're an asshole for calling him a racist asshole because you think he said nigger.
If anything, you're an asshole for calling him a racist asshole because you think he said nigger.
What
"Clarkson said that in filming the section a couple of years ago, he was very keen to avoid using the offensive term in a version of the nursery rhyme and mumbled it on two takes before replacing it with the word "teacher" on a third."

When I viewed this footage several weeks later, I realized that in one of the versions, if I listened very carefully with the sound turned right up, that I had actually used the word I was trying to obscure," he said.

more just said "what a fucking dick" and didn't bother calling in because they had other things to do.
Yes and I pray that they may continue on with their lives even though someone out there in the world may be a cock. I sincerely hope that this incident didn't cripple all of their hopes and dreams.
What
he didnt even say nigger, yet he feels the need to think clarkson is an asshole for mumbling gibberish, he didn't even say nigger for fucks sake.
People like to make up bullshit if someone says anything that sounds remotely offensive.
Also great response, very informative.
http://edition.cnn.com/2014/05/02/world/europe/uk-jeremy-clarkson-racism-row/
He said that he actually said nigger because if he said he didn't say it, BBC would have fired him for not "admitting" it, even though he didn't say it. What are you supposed to do when lots of people are saying you said a word that you know you didn't when your job is on the line?
He said that he actually said nigger because if he said he didn't say it, BBC would have fired him for not "admitting" it, even though he didn't say it. Now you're just moving the goalposts.
Also why are people standing by he didn't say these things? He's publicly apologised for this as well as the slope comment. He admitted to it.
Because the complainers "are always right" and will keep on being annoying until someone bends over for them
Don't get me wrong. I think its fucking stupid that people are offended over words; but I came in here due to the absolutely retarded defense of "oh its a violation of freedom of speech" which it clearly isn't, but some fucking idiots will continue to use it because they don't understand the very freedoms they've been given.
It is stupid though that we are coming to the point where anything you have ever said in the history of your life becomes a justifiable excuse to fire someone.
