I still don't see how this is a thing. Yes, he said 'nigger'. No-one is denying that. But it's the context: in this nursery rhyme that's how it goes. It was never aired, and he has apologised about it. It would be entirely different if he just called a random black person it, but he did it in the context of a well know rhyme. And you know what? I dont even get why the slope comment was that bad, the racial slur wasnt even the main factor in the joke- he simply used a racist slur to create the assumption he was talking about the very visible incline in the bridge they made, and the humor came from the fact he could also have been referring to the Asian man currently crossing it. Thats literally the most tame racist joke ive ever seen.

It was cancelled for a few years and then came back in 2002 as an entertainment programme rather than an informative programme (the older episodes had long features reviewing family hatchbacks on economy and space etc)
