yeah dude who needs background checks during a police investigation it's not like knowing a person's past tendencies could possibly help solve a violent crime!!
Not when it's expunged. What part about expunged and squeaky clean do you not understand? When it's expunged, it cannot be used for ANYTHING other than hearsay. It won't hold any value in court, won't do anything in the court process. The only thing it does do is tell the public that he did something bad a long while ago but it wont do anything against him in court. Therefor in the eyes of the law his record is "squeaky clean", and as far as the judge and jury are concerned that is true. [editline]26th March 2012[/editline]
Then you don't understand how investigations work.
I understand it quite well, and when somethings expunged it can't be used in court.
Medically speaking, and I've seen this many times, if this guys head was being knocked into the back of the pavement with such a force he was in danger and his life was threatened, and lets say for arguments sake that he was 'screaming for 45' seconds on the 911 call. He would have to had a concussion. Slamming his Occipital lobe with that much force would have sent massive waves through the parterial lobe and slammed his frontal lobe into his skull. That is the textbook example of a concussion. I wouldn't use him going unconscious as an example though, some people can stand that. Concussion though, if his life was in danger for that 45 seconds, he would have had one.
Assuming his story is true, his head might not have been continuously slammed for those 45 seconds. It's possible to get lacerations on the back of your head after about 2, maybe even 1, well-placed hit(s) against cement. Getting your head slammed against the ground in the middle of the night is a very disorienting experience. Zimmerman may have genuinely believed his life was in danger. He didn't know if Martin had a knife or other type of weapon.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson yesterday spoke at an Eatonville church, where he called Trayvon a martyr
Trayvon Martin is not a martyr, he died for no cause. Burning yourself alive and remaining calm through the whole ordeal to demonstrate your detest to the religious inequality of your country is being a martyr. Edit: Also Thich Quang Duc's death actually did something when it was a critical turning point of the Buddhist crisis and collapsed the Diệm regime, Trayvon Martin's death will change absolutely nothing.
Trayvon Martin is not a martyr, he died for no cause. Burning yourself alive and remaining calm through the whole ordeal to demonstrate your detest to the religious inequality of your country is being a martyr.
why did you post this
correcting witnesses/asking leading questions/police saying zimmerman's record was "squeaky clean" can't find anything on what the police said on the 911 call right now but that's just a drop in the bucket compared to the monumental fuck up this has been.
I believe the "squeaky clean" comment was made because he had a charge expunged. Regardless, even if the rest is true, I don't see how that leads anyone to conclude something so bad as police getting together to cover up a crime, it would just mean they made some mistakes, if anything. I'm not taking any sides here. I agree that justice should be served and every resource possible should be used to investigate this incident. However right now people are making too many assumptions about what happened there, without the proper evidence to back them up. If the court finds him guilty, then he's guilty. If they don't find the proper evidence to back up the claims against him, then he will be found not guilty. Right now, Zimmerman should still be considered innocent until proven guilty in court because that's just simply how our justice system is supposed to work.
the police have already shown they're incompetent and at every step in the way they've gone out of their way to defend zimmerman they've corrected witnesses, they let him walk free in the middle of a murder investigation, and now they're telling us trayvon just decided to beat the shit out of some random dude he found walking along the sidewalk? yeah no that really makes a whole lot of sense! how exactly can they verify that trayvon actually started the fight? how do they know that he said "well now you do [have a problem]"? because zimmerman said so?
This is not a murder investigation though. Murder is premeditated. There is no evidence to back up murder accusations against this man, as if he had literally gone out with the intention to go shoot someone. Also they don't have a way to verify that, they have to see how his story fits with the actual evidence.

And yeah, he didn't know if Martin was armed, another good reason why he shouldn't have accosted him.
why did you post this
Because Trayvon Martin was not a martyr.
Because Trayvon Martin was not a martyr.
good job dude you really put all those "travyon martin was a martyr" guys in their place
Because Trayvon Martin was not a martyr.
Was anyone really debating that?
Yeah, and if it was hard enough to lacerate your scalp, your bounding your brain back and fourth. And yeah, he didn't know if Martin was armed, another good reason why he shouldn't have accosted him.
Not necessarily. A small, sharp rock is capable of cutting the scalp. Having lacerations on the scalp doesn't mean that the momentum of the head was strong enough to damage the brain. Cutting my hand with a knife doesn't lead to a broken bone. I agree that he was wrong to follow and confront Martin.
Was anyone really debating that?
I don't think Rev. Jesse Jackson knows the definition of the word.
Was anyone really debating that?
It was unnecessary for that comparison but it is aggravating when Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have to ram their selves into every situation so they can feel relevant.
I don't think Rev. Jesse Jackson knows the definition of the word.
You sure as shit told him, I'm sure once he reads this thread he'll recant his words.
I don't think Rev. Jesse Jackson knows the definition of the word.
ok welp we get it thanks for your input we now know that trayvon wasn't a martyr you can stop posting now
To be honest at this point I know he was attacked but, no one just simply snaps like that, what the fuck did Zimmerman do to the kid to make him do that? not picking sides but fuck
To be honest at this point I know he was attacked but, no one just simply snaps like that, what the fuck did Zimmerman do to the kid to make him do that? not picking sides but fuck
chase him during the night?
ok welp we get it thanks for your input we now know that trayvon wasn't a martyr you can stop posting now
Yes master.
To be honest at this point I know he was attacked but, no one just simply snaps like that, what the fuck did Zimmerman do to the kid to make him do that? not picking sides but fuck
Confronting him probably got Martin angry, especially if Zimmerman used a racial slur. In all likeliness a larger verbal confrontation came before any physical altercation.
Confronting him probably got Martin angry, especially if Zimmerman used a racial slur. In all likeliness a larger verbal confrontation came before any physical altercation.
to piss someone off like that you'd have to be a right almighty douche I think
Hmm took a month for him to say "Oh yeah I forgot, he decked me and slammed my face into the sidewalk"
Hmm took a month for him to say "Oh yeah I forgot, he decked me and slammed my face into the sidewalk"
no, this information was just released.
But why did Zimmerman not just shoot to the side of Trayvon as a warning shot, or shoot him in a non-vital area? I think that Zimmerman was trigger happy.
But why did Zimmerman not just shoot to the side of Trayvon as a warning shot, or shoot him in a non-vital area? I think that Zimmerman was trigger happy.
because in real life you don't fire warning shots this isn't a fucking movie.
because in real life you don't fire warning shots this isn't a fucking movie.
Why not shoot him in the legs or something?
to piss someone off like that you'd have to be a right almighty douche I think
Depends on Martin's tendency to violence.
Why not shoot him in the legs or something?
...really? The legs have one of the largest veins and arteries in your body. If you hit it, you're dead. Good job killing him anyways. Like I said, this isn't a fucking movie.
There needs to be a megathread about this topic.
b-b-b-bullshittttttttttt
