i doubt theyre renaming it to an assassins creed title, aside from the Ubisoft twitter confirming that "Watch Dogs" was still going to be made, it would take a lot of work to redo the whole game so the main character has roots to the assassins and templars not to mention they would tear down all the work they did on the story

They've done nothing to fuck around or screw it up.... They only abandoned a trademark they aren't using!
I'm almost certain it's just the lack of underscore. No moron would think it'd be cancelled after all the marketing and development, and renaming it would also undo a lot of the marketing.
