Honestly I'm not convinced. I can't see any shadows in the screenshot. By the looks of it, it's the same engine with new models. And speaking of models, they need to improve on the cliffs.
But yeah it's too early to say. Anyway, my conclusion is that it looks far from done.
The shadows are clipped at a fairly close distance on the console version. It happens in all games with dynamic lighting, the pc version shadow clip sphere is generally about 5x as large as on the consoles in most games. Also, the lack of ambient occlusion in that picture makes me gag.
Holy crap yesssss finally diagonal running animations.
I'll finally be able to enjoy third person view. I hope they will also remake the jumping animations, goodness they were awful.
honestly Oblivion would be a pretty game with some dynamic shadows
this game claims them, but it seriously should have dynamic shadows ON THE ENVIRONMENT TOO
so far I have seen good character shadows, but have yet to see and noteworthy environment shadows.
Ridable mammoths please. It could be a part of a random encounter where you find a lone mammoth being attacked by a pack of wolves (as described in the article) and if you manage to save it the mammoth becomes loyal to you or something.
Sounds like a rideable Dogmeat.
Scratch that, I just want a ridable Dogmeat now.
from a magazine "if you drop something, sometimes people might return it to you, steal it, or even fight over it"
i cant wait 11 months fuck fuck FUCK
So.... can you run diagonally?
Yes.
First thing I will do. Hunt down a dragon and kill it with a snowball.
Scratch that, I just want a ridable Dogmeat now.
I want to give Dogmeat clothing that he could wear.
He'd look AWESOME in T-51b Power Armor. :buddy:
The devs are using Havok Behaviour technology for their animations. Anyone who ever played Oblivion or Fallout 3 in the third person should appreciate that this is a giant leap for mankind.
Did anyone else lol when they read this?
Holy hell I want this.
NPCs will react to your actions differently depending on your prior relationship with them. Creative director Todd Howard illustrates this with the following adorable example: “Your friend would let you eat the apple in his house.”
In other words: you can be that asshole friend who shows up at his buddy's house, eats all his food, sleeps in his guest room, pisses in the toilet and leaves.
Awesome.
So you won't get murdered any more for eating someone else's apple?
This changes everything. A realistic criminal system?
I did like how Oblivion was the middle ground for it all, and incoperated everything from all of the provinces. Like I first thought "Why does skingrad looks so different?" Then I realized that it was from a different culture than the other towns, and I hope Skyrim has something different than all snow too, like maybe some plains or something. Hell I'd be OVERJOYED if there was a small town that was built like the imperial city. It's probably a pipe dream though.
Tell me, there wasn't an Elder Scrolls from where the Khajiit came from is there?
Elsweyr, Khajiit's suck, Argonian is where it's at.
Fucking racist prick, Khajiits are nimble as fuck, Argonians can breathe underwater oooh real useful when you're dicking about on land :v:
Immune to disease.
I remember playing hours on Oblivion, still play Morrowind on my 360, because I don't have my original Xbox anymore..
"None of the dragons’ actions are scripted"
This will not end well. Especially as it's Bethesda.
Player has fallen in love with dragon...
So.... can you run diagonally?
oh man it's the first thing i'm gonna do when i get this game i'm gonna run so diagonally hard while spraying cum all over my keyboard fuck i can't wait for the animation it's the only reason i'm buying this game

I loved that. Especially because i just resisted, killed everybody, and asked that Thief's guild guy.
I killed around 15 people because of an apple. Best thing is, we all were stunned by Oblivions realistic AI back then :v:
Always funny to look at the past. Wonder in 5 years, we'll look back and say "te-he, we though it was so awesome because you could eat an apple."
Hahaha, resist arrest for an apple.
Hahaha, resist arrest for an apple.
More like - Hahaha, be arrested for an apple.
I better not imagine what could happen in an upcoming game when reading about it's features. Because too many times it didn't work like that. I still remember when I read about GTA SA where you could hide in the shadows. The only place where you could do so was in Madd Dogg's mansion and only in one mission. Same goes for the one-punch-knockout-from-behind in GTA IV. So I better stay doubtful when it comes to cool-sounding features stated by the developers and I'll wait for previews and reviews.
I actually thought oblivions AI was alright. It made the game fun to play. Nothing wrong with some random shenanigans. Speaking of shenanigans, I once found two imperial guard huntsman shooting arrows at each other outside bruma. I guess one of them got in the way of the other and got an arrow up his butt, and went all like "BY THE NINE DIVINES!".
I'm very excited to see what they can do with the norse/viking theme. Though, I'm already seeing horns mounted on helmets but I'm fine with it.
even when the dragons are speaking/shouting
i laughed uncontrollably at this thought

ai was decent except when the player was in sneak mode.
Make a trail of money from the largest town to the lair of a dragon.
THAT IS MY QUEST.
Hopefully a new engine means we won't get items floating two inches above tables like in fallout and oblivion.
