They still released an incomplete game though. Should've labeled it Early Access.
So is every game that has ever had a content patch ever "incomplete" at launch to you? Is TF2, which has been out and updated freely for 7 years, still incomplete to you?
Jesus did EA kill some of your dogs lmao?
They still released an incomplete game though. Should've labeled it Early Access.
Do you play on the very first unpatched version of your games or something? Shit happens, and a dev cycle is incredibly short ontop of that. You can't have everything in at launch, especially not a big game like S4 without something being axed.

I consider The Sims 4 to have missed a lot of key elements, whether you agree or not with me on that, it's another matter.

I didn't even know there weren't any ghosts in the game. I felt ghosts are more important than pools tbh. I guess people value killing Sims more than a ghostly reminder of all the Sims they killed

Ghosts have much more impact on gameplay than pools, and it went almost completely unnoticed.
I'm loving all the people still going on with the anger and paranoia on this page
I still can't really trust EA, fool me once... But i must say, I would be quite happy to wait another 4, 5, or even 6 months if it mean't having a bigger and more filled game, free updates are good and all, but what about all those poor fuckers that don't have accses to internet, just... fuck them?
Bring back open neighborhood and CAST and I'm ready to buy.
You mean the 15 minute load times and shit performance?
But i must say, I would be quite happy to wait another 4, 5, or even 6 months if it mean't having a bigger and more filled game, free updates are good and all, but what about all those poor fuckers that don't have accses to internet, just... fuck them?
Why exactly are you complaining about post-release content for this game specifically when literally 90% of games nowadays have plenty of post-release updates?
Why exactly are you complaining about post-release content for this game specifically when literally 90% of games nowadays have plenty of post-release updates?
because I'm not? :v: read my post again, i'm not complaining about post release updates i'm saying i'd rather wait 6+months for a bigger more polished and finished game
I tend to defend EA, but even I thought pools would be in a paid-for DLC, like "Summer adventure items DLC" or something. That's cool of them to give something so demanded for free. Kind of disproves the theory they took them out for money, too, since it's well, free. :v:

That's what they want you to think. If it wasn't for the huge backlash in the first place they would have sold that as DLC.

This strikes me as completely planned. There's no way that EA didn't expect there to be backlash, so they're using this in an attempt to show people that they've "changed" by releasing free updates.
It's a conspiracy.
because I'm not? :v: read my post again, i'm not complaining about post release updates i'm saying i'd rather wait 6+months for a bigger more polished and finished game
I was mainly replying to this:
free updates are good and all, but what about all those poor fuckers that don't have accses to internet, just... fuck them?
It seemed to me like it was a complaint about post-release updates, but if it wasn't, I apologize for the misunderstanding.
You mean the 15 minute load times and shit performance?
The load times are apparently appalling on The Sims 4 anyway. At least that's what I've heard.
The load times are apparently appalling on The Sims 4 anyway. At least that's what I've heard.
They've posed no problem for me.
God you guys will find any excuse to bitch about EA being the worst thing since fucking Ebola But I'm sure if this was another company like valve you all would be like "should've been done by launch but oh well its here now" Not "WOW FUCK THEM AND THEIR MONEY GRABBING WAYS, I HOPE THEY ROT"
The load times are apparently appalling on The Sims 4 anyway. At least that's what I've heard.
I guess if you call 5 seconds the worst thing since hitler, yeah they're pretty bad.
I guess if you call 5 seconds the worst thing since hitler, yeah they're pretty bad.
But remember, it's by EA So literally 100% horrible
EA's improved a hell of a lot in recent years. Origin's a quality service - the client's much more streamlined and responsive than Steam, and the free games are a nice bonus. Yes, they've sucked in the past, but they're obviously trying to improve their public image. That doesn't mean EA is manipulating the public by tricking people into thinking they're better, it means that they're probably actually trying to be better. The EA hate on here is ridiculous. Companies can change priorities without it being a giant conspiracy. EA was never "evil," it just made poor choices for their consumers, and it's been doing that far less frequently than it used to.
EA actually performing an objectively-good business practice today, when at any other time this would've been paid DLC? Good on them, hopefully this kind of good business practice will become standard for them soon. Even with things being as topsy-turvy as they are in gaming right now, I never would've expected this to be honest.
God damnit EA, how am I supposed to blindly hate you if you do cool shit like this?
God you guys will find any excuse to bitch about EA being the worst thing since fucking Ebola But I'm sure if this was another company like valve you all would be like "should've been done by launch but oh well its here now" Not "WOW FUCK THEM AND THEIR MONEY GRABBING WAYS, I HOPE THEY ROT"
to be fair, its because of how EA usually acts, causing people to be really shitty about minor things and not trusting them why SHOULD we trust them? within reason obviously
You mean the 15 minute load times and shit performance?
Is it impossible to optimize something like this?
Oh boy, EA doing something good suddenly Facepunch calls for bullshit! That's so new!! Come on.
-snip-
So there is literally nothing EA could have done to please you. If they didn't release the pools, you would yell at them for removing features. If they released them as paid DLC, you would say "HAHA SEE I TOLD YOU SO LOOK AT THOSE MONEY GRUBBING 1%ERS!!!" And even when they release them for free, you are angry because "they wouldn't have done it if it wasn't for backlash." Literally nothing would have made you happy.
Where are you getting all this? Nowhere in my post did I say that I'm unhappy. Yes I was upset when I found out that pools won't be in game, I got even more angry when they said they CAN'T put pools in the game, and yes my blood would be boiling if they released them as DLC. I am however glad that they are releasing it for free, but on the other hand that does not mean I can't be sceptical or even paranoid like someone said of their reasoning to do so. All I'm saying is no one should be praising EA for one thing that they did right. They still have a long road ahead of them to shed the bad reputation.
This is just like the diving board backlash from the Sims 3. (Although I am still kinda mad about the lack of toddlers)
Even though I don't have The Sims 4, I admit that I am surprised they didn't chose to make pools into paid content. I've spent the last few minutes trying to come up with something witty to compare it to, but I can't. In this current day and age I'm surprised that an unimplemented feature was added to a game for free instead of as part of a paid content pack.
So presumably the Sims 4 doesn't have ghost sims as it is? They were one of the most interesting parts of the Sims 2/3 for me, I would try and get one of each type.
